Dave Russell I think he's imitating RA's staccato style.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm back home from a family get-together at Chris' folks' house. The nieces had balloons. Balloons were everywhere - much bopping with balloons, batting balloons around in air, and popping of balloons.

I now hate balloons.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Me, too. Thanks, Larry!

Ah, the peace and quiet of home after the pandemonium of the in-laws house... :)

What do you have against the letter "a", CJ?

idk, do you have too sally?

message 1711: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Sorry, I was rather not in the condition to type...plus I was trying to capture the bonfire mood. Although I like Dave's "staccato style" designation. I don't know that I've ever had a style:)

Ooh, balloons drive me crazy. I'm not a fan of balloons mixed with children.

I'm hungover right now. Coffee, please.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Which play, Matty?

message 1713: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Yup Sally. Loaded my canoe and went with a friend for a 4+ hr jaunt down the Wildcat Creek near here. 7 impassable snags as it hasn't been cleaned up yet. Think I will volunteer this year with my chainsaw when they do it. Local DNR does a cleanup weekend for the waterways every year. Today some "road farming" after more yard and property work. Getting ready for church now....

Kate Padilla | 2 comments Right now I'm reading up on Charles Baxter's Feast of Love (I finished the book yesterday) and I'm finishing a cup of English Breakfast tea.

message 1716: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments right now I am glad to be in my chair finally. I want a diet coke with a slice of lime but there is no one here to sweet talk into getting it for me

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Right now, my hands and feet are warming back up after riding my bike back home from the in-laws in the dusk.
It was a long, noisy, family-filled day.

Tired. But happy.

message 1718: by Lori (last edited May 25, 2009 12:56AM) (new)

Lori Right now I am very sleepy but must stay up long enough to have my Ben & Jerry's Mint Oreo. I've got my priorities!

message 1719: by RandomAnthony (last edited May 25, 2009 07:53AM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments You know, it's funny, the last four or five posts remind me of how exhausting holiday weekends can be. I want to sit in a dark room and be quiet for a while after all the visitors and activity. Although the visitors are still here, so that wouldn't be very polite.

I'm looking forward to my office tomorrow. Although I don't mean to sound like I've haven't had fun...the weekend has been great...

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Best part about a 3 day weekend is the ensuing 4 day work week

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm enjoying having the house to myself after spending several hours shopping and lunching downtown with a big chunk of Chris' extended family.

I brought home a paperback copy of Neverwhere A Novel from Orca Books.

message 1723: by RandomAnthony (last edited May 25, 2009 03:45PM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Funny, I just lent my friend Jed my copy of Neverwhere Saturday night...

I'm with you, our Chicago visitors are gone. The house is quiet. I'm glad they came, but...yay! They're gone!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I still have a picnic in the park for dinner tonight to look forward to. KFC takeout, and watching the kids on the playground until it gets dark, I'm guessing.

message 1725: by Félix (last edited May 25, 2009 04:10PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) Watch out for the balloons, Jackie.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments The balloons all popped or shriveled, Larry. Darn!
;)

message 1727: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) There's a Eastern Mystical saying that goes with that, Jackie. But I can't seem to access that memory bank right now.

message 1729: by Nuri (last edited May 25, 2009 10:48PM) (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments I'm home until Thursday.
I ate a whole bowl of cherries and a Korean melon.
There was also kimchi stew, grilled fish, and home-pickled cucumber kimchi.
It was SO good.

Beats last night's mustard and cheese sandwiches by a whole lot.

I wish I could just read myself to sleep now, but there are cover and thank you letters to be written.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I like mustard and cheese sandwiches...

Mmmmm. Mustard, cheese, pastrami, and pickles. On light rye, with iced tea.

message 1732: by Heidi (last edited May 26, 2009 10:11AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I'm soooo thrilled to have had a crazy busy morning this morning at work! When we get like this, I get singularly focused on what I'm doing... with razorbeam attention.

One of the pts told me, "You've been doing this for a long time... I can tell! You're really good at this." It surprisingly caught me off-guard to hear that. And made me super happy.

message 1733: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Yay Heidi! That makes me smile for you.

Right now I'm headed out to the patio with a stack of books and a pitcher of iced tea.

message 1734: by [deleted user] (new)

Laser Heidi, one of our new Super Heroes. :-D.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Heidi, I'm not surprised to hear you're good at what you do. :D

I'm looking out the window of my office at the first cloudy sky I've seen since LAST Tuesday, and feeling very grateful for the great weather I had over the holiday.

message 1736: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell Perhaps influenced by a post you made in another thread, I thought for a second you were headed out to the patio with a stack of boobs, Sally.

message 1737: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments :) Usually when someone gives positive feedback about my teammates, I encourage them to write a quick note to our study PI so she can hear that people are happy with her staff. And, also, so coworkers can have positive feedback in their personnel folders.

I didn't think to encourage said person to do that this morning b/c it was such a nice surprise.

I had to come in and put on more of a shirt. It's sunny out there, but not warm.

message 1739: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Oh.... Not to complain? They were all right, but growing up, bread was always something we resorted to when there was no rice.

Yay for Heidi's razorbeam attention! I really like the way "razorbeam attention" feels. I imagine a sharp and sparkly glint in your eyes. Speaking of sparklies, I can easily imagine Heidi naturally and effortlessly emitting pink hearts and sparkles.

message 1740: by Lori (new)

Lori So can I, because Heidi is nice and sparkly!

Heidi, I can't remember, when did you finally move out from the moldy building?

message 1741: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
She kind of does here already!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments She does, doesn't she. I love your positive spirit, Heidi! :)

message 1743: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments HOLY SPIT!!! I meant "laserbeam attention." I'm totally blushing right now. And I'm sure my face matches my hot pink dress.

We moved out of the moldy office building in early December. Now I'm holed up in a closet with no windows. I miss my moldy office... at least I had a window.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Nools wrote: "Speaking of sparklies, I can easily imagine Heidi naturally and effortlessly emitting pink hearts and sparkles. "

Really?!! Because I'd like to think that I'm TOUGH!!! And scary! And intimidating!!!

(GRRRRR... I'm a bear.)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i like heidi's profile pic

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Can you put up a picture of an outdoor scene, Heidi? That's supposed to be beneficial, even though it's illusory.

message 1747: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Oh, I have decor ready to put up when we finally get our overhead storage units installed. They've been promising them since December. We're not supposed to put anything on the walls, though... admin guidelines. Bummer.
