Canjun tots were something on the menu in a bar I was in this past weekend. Basically taters in the tot form with canjuny spices sprinkled (I think mainly cayenne). They were spicy & delish.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Why do you want to change from nusing, Cj? And welcome to TC, if you haven't been formally welcomed yet:)

message 1560: by [deleted user] (new)

Is there too much stress in your profession Cj? What else would you see yourself doing? Something else in the medical profession like a transcriptionist(sp?) or do you want out of the whole medical area?

Gee that's a lot of questions sorry.

message 1561: by byhera (new)

byhera (ordinary) | 50 comments coz i wont to be a nurse, my parents pushed me, my life is for design.
so, what i must doing now?

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments It's your life, CJ! Do what makes you happy. You only live once.

Anthony, stay away from the mallot.

message 1563: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Cajun tots - *sigh* I'm going to do my best to not get irritated with this.

It's not directed at you, Sherrie.

I just can't stand that people add seasoning and egg batter to stuff and call it "Cajun" because that's NOT what Cajun cuisine's about. It's bad enough that people mistaken New Orleans or Creole cuisine for Cajun. They're all distinctly different. I wish they'd call "Cajun seasoned-whatever" by another name.

but i think its too late.
live is bored. nothing can make me laugh right now.

message 1565: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments It's NEVER too late. You're an adult, right?! Do what you need to do to go into design - go back to school... move to a place where there's a market for careeers in design... open up your own webpage on etsy and sell stuff you make... grow your own business. There's something you can do, whether it's on a small scale or a large scale change. Just take control of your life and don't make it about living for the happiness of others. They won't always be around.

Hm.

Right now I'm waiting for the coffee to brew so I can make a to go cup. I'm driving over to pick up some baby sunflower plants.
Since we're moving the rockbed around the garden there is now this huge spot with nothing in/on/around it where it used to be border. So I'm going to go pick up these baby sunflower plants and make a little grove.
If this spot does okay I'm going to plant some corn next to it come June.

Cj 18 is too young to be locked into something that doesn't make you happy. You may want to stay with it for a short period of time to pay the bills, and to give you time to build a beginning for what ever it is you would like to design, do as Heidi says. If you are this miserable so young it is definitely time to find something different to do.

message 1572: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Jim's right, CJ. Take it one step at a time. Do what you need to do to make yourself happy. I'm assuming the class you speak of is a requirement for design majors. If not, then forget about it. If yes, and the class is too hard, then take it again and again until you pass. That's all you need - a passing grade. As for the rest of your questions, only you can know the answer to that. Do the work. Do the research to find out what you need to be successful. Don't rely on others to give you that answer. They don't always know what's best for you.

Kevin, you're a cheeky monkey. :)

Whine, whine, whine. Always something to complain about. ^^;

In other news, I woke up really early today. At first I was a little sad about it, but it's been a pleasant/restful/contemplative morning, and the day feels so much longer. : )

Sally, check the germination time for your corn. a June planting may be a little late.

Do you have goldfinches where you are? They absolutely love sunflower plants when they are near harvest.

message 1585: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell Why does the Southerner always win on AI? Is that show big in the South?

And who's Amber?

Heidi wrote: "WHOA! Our group member # is at 311... which makes me think of Amber which makes me think of tadpole (because that was on his mix) which makes me think of birthday celebration... "

That was quite the progression Heidi, so from now on 311=birthday celebration.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Dave wrote: "Why does the Southerner always win on AI? Is that show big in the South?

Amber was one of the songs on tadpole's shebang, Dave.

I was wondering about that, Jim. The gardening book I'm going off of says to wait till the soil is warm to plant corn outside, or so I'd thought.

Also, we're just going to dig in about 1’ and stir in some garden soil/compost etc. to make it nicer in there. It's super hard clay/sand/whatever right now and has been covered by a rock bed & weed mat for 2 years.

message 1589: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I miss the goldfinches we had in Utah. We had a feeder that took only thistle seed. It was a tube feeder with perches with the feeding holes under the perches. The birds would hang upside down and pull the little crescent-shaped seeds out. Goldfinches are so beautiful abd fun to watch!

Oooooh! I hope that some finches come to my yard! So cute! They look like they'd make some nice chittering noises.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments So cute! I mainly just get chickadees and juncos, and scrub jays, in my yard.

message 1592: by [deleted user] (last edited May 21, 2009 10:36AM) (new)

Thanks for the picture Larry, we get quite a few of those. I love chickadees, we have one that never comes over to the plant hanger that we have the hummingbird feeders on unless the finch feeder is empty. Then it will come over when I am in the screen porch to chirp at me. It is almost like it is telling me to fill the feeder.

We've had these this spring.

Lori Yep, boring birds in my yard too. Altho I've seen a hummingbird twice! I like to sit out in the back first thing in the morning. Unfortunately I'm not yet wearing my glasses. So who knows I might have all these unusual birds back there!

message 1594: by [deleted user] (new)

We have a set of hummingbirds that sit on our feeders and eat every morning while we eat breakfast.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments There were hummingbirds visiting the cherry tree at work back when it was in bloom. Yay!

I kind of liked the progression, myself.

I guess I never noticed that Southerners always win AI. I only paid attention to this one (peripherally) because it affects traffic around here. Amber is a 311 song, Dave.

I LOOOOOVE finches! And hummingbirds! I never noticed their little claws until I saw them perch on the bird feeder while I was visiting the farm. Lunch/afternoon breaks on the porch were awesome. We have several cardinals that hang out around my place, and recently a bluejay, too. Those little suckers are BOLD.

message 1598: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought the progression was great too Heidi. I love how the mind works sometimes.

Don't like Bluejays, they are a mean bird.
