Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Oh, and um. My Californian failure to know what goes on anywhere outside of LA and SF, but. What's in central Jersey...?

ALSO: Me, too, BunWat.

It's either Rutgers or Princeton, I bet he meant Rutgers.
;-D

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Why did I think those were more North?
But I am looking at the map now, and it is telling me this is very much so.

Nools - I'm thinking about you a lot with this Joan Didion book I'm reading right now. It's nonfiction essays written in CA from 1964-90 or so. Lots of Berkeley and SF and Malibu and LA etc!

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I am soooo friggin sleepy, I could fall asleep at my desk right now. The only thing stopping me is that I have to go to a meeting in 2 minutes.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning, raring to go and wishing I could go back to sleep. I think it's because I had a supergreat weekend and felt like I was ready to take on the world by last night.

I think I'm going to put off laundry until tomorrow. No way I have the energy to do it tonight. No. Way.

How's everyone (in school right now) doing with school? Are you guys done with finals and papers and projects? Anything left? Are you planning on taking summer classes or an extended break for the next two and a half months?

I'm finished with everything but submitting my grades online. The server seems to be down here at school so things are spotty.

message 1457: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I'm sleepy too. Slept lousy for no reason at all, and skipped the gym this morning, which probably would have energized me. Getting by on sugar.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm going through the boxes of weeded books from the library branches. They've been weeding LIKE MAD the last few weeks!

Here's what it looks like when I first arrive at my weed table:

message 1459: by Julie (new)

Julie | 568 comments Wow. That does look like a lot of weeds.
But I still wish I had your job.

message 1460: by Matthieu (last edited May 18, 2009 05:50PM) (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments A 66-year-old women in London is pregnant. I fucking hate this world.

message 1461: by Lori (new)

Lori Yeah, I felt some pissiness about that too. Think of the kid, woman!

message 1462: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments To quote my roommate: "Have fun when your mom dies in 15 years, bro."

I hate kids, but still... she's awful.

message 1463: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Not her fault Matt, her boyfriend said the condom had been tucked in the back of his wallet since 1958.

message 1464: by Lori (new)

Lori They just don't make em like they used to.

Oh. Wait.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments And now I'm done with the weeds, at least for today. Here's what my weed table looks like now, pretty much:

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Why are you still at work? It's 6:16!

message 1467: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Do they sell these "weeds" like at a library surplus book sale? Ours does

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm going home now, RA.
And yes, Kevin, they sell the books at library sales, and online at Once Sold Tales, and Amazon, too, I think.

message 1469: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Very good idea Jackie. I volunteer at all the library book sales and they are a big hit although I am down on people who come in with bar code scanners and just buy to resell.

message 1470: by Lori (new)

Lori Oooof, how I HATE those people Kevin. They empty the shelves at GoodWill, and are just damn rude too.

message 1471: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments agreed. They elbow in ripping things off shelves and then tossing them back randomly if they don't show a value after scanning. I don't collect books to resell although I give away many. I bought 2 original Edgar Rice Burroughs 1st Edition Tarzan volumes recently and a guy stopped me on the way out and was admiring them and I just handed them to him and said "here, you seem like you would really enjoy these." he beamed. Way cooler than selling them or even keeping them

message 1472: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Yay! Kevin gets cool points for giving away books to book-lovers. :)

message 1473: by Lori (new)

Lori Aw Kevin you are such a mensch.

message 1474: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Headed to the library to renew my card. Time sure does fly by.

message 1475: by Heidi (last edited May 19, 2009 07:40AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments :) BunWat, everytime you post something adultlike (or even just post something), it makes me giggle since your av is a cutie pie little girl.

message 1476: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yeah. The just have to verify identity and residency to renew it here. I tried to renew a book online. It wouldn't let me because my membership expires before the book would be due back.

So off I go.

message 1477: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Do it again!

message 1478: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments lori- i had to check out to make sure what you said. thanks!

message 1479: by Heidi (last edited May 19, 2009 08:13AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments :) I was riding in the backseat of my friend's parents' gigantaur van. We were going on "a field trip" (of sorts) to Oak Alley Plantation. That was my "I'm a BEAR!" face.

message 1480: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I used to make that face alot. I think I still do.

I've been to Oak Alley! It's fun, and really tres creepy.

message 1482: by Heidi (last edited May 19, 2009 08:25AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Yeah, my friends Amy and Paul and I were on a secret Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine ghost hunting mission. We were busy hatching the plan in the van en route to the plantation.

We didn't see anything, though. We DID try to creep each other out to make up for what we missed.

message 1483: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments No. I was just being tough.

message 1486: by Heidi (last edited May 20, 2009 08:04AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Wow. I'm wearing my bronze gladiator sandals today with my brown linen skirt and dusty rose button down linen shirt. The outfit makes me feel like a safari hunter or a jungle explorer. I get lots of compliments on the sandals, so I thought the mini ego boosts couldn't hurt, right? Well, I've finally found a disadvantage to wearing them.

I was running up the stairs to work from the parking garage(because I do that) and slipped and almost face planted into the concrete stairs. I'm not sure if it was best that I caught myself on my hands or not. I did, though. My legs had trouble catching footing, so I'm sure I'll have scrapes across the front of my thighs and calves. I fully expected my palms to be bloody and full of loose gravel/sand/concrete. They weren't. I did break a nail. That part sucks. And I'm sure I will have bruises tomorrow. The worst part was the nurse who was walking up the stairs behind me stopped to ask if I was okay. My ego - seriously bruised over that. I abhor that I'm proud.

Is it weird that I kinda get a kick out of watching bruises/battle scars develop on me? I always have... even as a kid. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a klutz, and I don't do that sort of thing often. But on the rare occasion when it does happen, they're like badges of honor or temporary tattoos, only different.

message 1487: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I like a good bruise too! I bruise very easily, and if I got the bruise in a good way I like to show it off. They turn cool colors too.

message 1488: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (buckythecat) I didn't know where else to put this. Right now I just finished checking this out...someone emailed it to me and it's a real movie. Straight to video, which is SHOCKING.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Heidi, Lol/sorry about the fall. That sounded spectacular painful and embarrassing.

I once had a roommate who tripped and fell often. I've always been grateful that I'm not klutzy. I lose/break things often, however.

Now, let's discuss this scar & bruise fetish of yours. I'm willing to wager that your fascination with that equals mine with "marks" touching the indentation divots left in skin from tight bands and naps and the like.

message 1490: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Most of my bruises and scars can be explained with great stories. I like to tell a good story, so I'm proud of my scars. Except the weird one on my shoulder; I have to make a new story every time. Knife fight? No, shark attack.

message 1491: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i have lots of scars and battle wounds and most have really good stories and some have great stories because of my wealth of stupidity that caused them. por ejemplo: my front two teeth have been knocked out 4 times (yes, they are fake now), once football, once basketball elbow, once a direct malicious shot to the chops and once by a guitar. anytime you have a stab wound made by a fork it is worth telling

message 1492: by Matthieu (new)

I'm drinking lemon tea and enjoying doing nothing today. It's a nice pattern of knitting, reading, and gardening I seem to be hovering within.

message 1500: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Ha, thanks. I'll be done in a few days. I can't wait to come home. So long, freshman year!
