Sarah (songgirl7) I'm home! I only had 1 margarita because my parents were paying and I didn't want to be presumptuous. But I do have tequila, triple sec, and sour mix here, so...

Sarah (songgirl7) I like how you've got a sign telling me where to post. If you could make it light up and flash and play mariachi music, I'll bet you would.

Sarah (songgirl7) I don't think it's gonna happen, Sally. I'm just getting sleepy.

Knarik Right now I am, with all the other Armenians all over the world, light a candle for the memory of 2 million innocent victams of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 by Turkes. We wait impatientily for Obama to keep his promise and to pronaunce the word Genocide in his today's speech. On April 24 all armenians are one, and we have only one wish and distiny and debt to our ancetors-to make Turky to recognize what was done 94 years ago!

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments I think the whole world is waiting on Obama to help make up for many of the mistakes made in the last 50 years or so. I keep hoping.

Lori Wasn't there some hoopla just a few years ago when some countries did call it genocide and Turkey had a hissy fit. Unbelievable that they still can't/won't recognize it.

they are ready to do everything and anything not to recognize it. But we will never forget The Truth. And though the memory of that horrible events are sad, heavy to bear and hard to talk about( as we lost not only people, but also the greatest part of our contry, our cities, our charches, our houses), but by demanding the recognation, we try to pay our last debt and respects to our ancetors and also SUCH CRIMES MUST BE PUNISHED. There is a great number of countries who recognized it.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Right now I'm listening to Brahm's 4th symphony and watching baseball with the sound down while looking for a new restaurant in downtown Milwaukee. We have symphony tickets for tonight...here's the program:

Joachim - Elegische Ouvertüre
Schumann - Piano Concerto in A minor
Brahms - Symphony No. 4

My insane mother visited today, so some classical music will do me good.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm checking all my GoodReads groups, and then I'm heading to the computer store to turn in my (I'm guessing) virus-ridden computer.
Not THIS computer, which is Chris' PowerBook, but the Dell I usually use at home. The one with all my music and photos on it. :(

Later, if it's not too cold and rainy, I may go watch the Procession of the Species Parade at 4:30.
I'm sorry your mother is insane, RA. I'm always glad my mom is someone I like and get along with.

Félix (habitseven) She meant:

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Can't see the picture! Take out the colon, Sally.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments That looks really good today, Sally and Larry. l may do the chicken soup thing when I get home again later, in sympathy for the Dell.

By the way, I hate Dell. I worked for them as a temp back in Austin, and have some leftover angst. Chris bought it because he needed a PC in order to take a particular job.

message 1069: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Which part of Dell did you work in, Jackie? I lived about a mile from the Round Rock campus.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments The one in north Austin, Larry, in one of the tons of business parks. Not too far from one of the Half-Price Books, though. And not too far from a Whole Foods, as I recall.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Right now I am doing nothing. Actually less than nothing. Negative something

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments You are undoing, Kevin?

I know exactly where that is. I had a job interview there once. I didn't get the job.

Croyle Smith | 29 comments Right now I'm hiding in the office The Doctor said I had to get ride of the stress in my life , I cant just dump him in the gutter now can I?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments No loss, Larry. It wasn't a fun place to work. Think cubicle farm, with fluorescent lights, and very sedentary work.
I was SO happy to get back to the book world! It was just a temp job right after Chris and I moved to Austin.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Hiding from the stress, or the doctor, Croyle?

Croyle Smith | 29 comments I'll be fine. always am. just trying to bring my BP down again without those damn drugs. dont like taking anything like that. AND HOSPITALS ARE STUPID!!! they lay you in bed hook you up to machines and a BP cuff that goes off every 15 minutes for 2 days telling you you need to relax and get some rest, who can rest when your arm is being squeezed to death.

message 1082: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I hear you on that.

Lori Yikes Croyle! Is there a specific thing you are stressed out about?

Jackie, what is the Parade of the Species?

message 1087: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Right now I just got back from a motorcycle ride and am getting ready to take the dog for a walk before I settle into my chair

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I just got back from promising my first born child to Best Buy's Geek Squad in return for them fixing my computer, which turns out to have FOUR major viruses on it, plus a smattering of smaller less dreadful viruses. The operating system is totally corrupted, so my choices were to have them transfer my files and uninstall everything, and then reinstall a new operating system, or to get a whole new computer.

I was sorely tempted to get a new computer, but since Chris needs Microsoft Office, which the guy says they don't install anymore (huh?!), I'm having them do the first, and slightly cheaper (but not much) option. I get it back in a week. I am very happy they can save all the music and photos on there, but I am feeling very annoyed at computers and internet viruses right now.

So am I consoling myself with onion rings from Eagan's Drive-Thru and a pear cider.

Lori, the Procession of the Species Parade is this great Earth Day celebration Olympia does every year as part of the spring Arts Walk, where participants (anyone who wants to) dress up as something natural - animals, plants, clouds, mythological creatures (dragons, which go in the Fire section), and parade through downtown, accompanied by samba drums and dancers. The parade is organized into four sections, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. I found out today that Fire is extinct species and mythological creatures.

It's great, and I saw some of it as I drove back from the mall. I saw an ocean guy with blue metallic fringe all over, a giant pumpkin, and several butterflies.

message 1089: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments I'm glad your laptop is getting fixed, Jackie. Sorry 'bout the viruses, though. Life is tough without a working computer.

Right now, I'm listening to Hello Seahorse! (thanks, Matt!) and drowsing over Dante on a nest of blankets on patch of sun in my living room. This beautiful, lazy Saturday is tainted only by a slight, gnawing anxiety for the upcoming week of papers and final projects and the most intimidating midterm of my life.

message 1090: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments don't install Office. The Geek Squad is a hoax. They are merely computer nerds who barely know more than than most people are are basically UPS boys as they send about everything in. Whatta gip. Sorry Jackie

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Thanks, Kevin. I think it's my own fault for going to some fishy websites. Don't go to anything Russian, ever, okay everyone? Or even Eastern European. They are BAD NEWS.

message 1092: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) There are some bad ones out there. Sorry you had to go through that, Jackie.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Thanks, Larry. I will go nowhere but GoodReads and Facebook, and maybe Hulu from here on out.
Oh, and Photobucket...

Hm...wonder what kind of weird, ahem, obscene material Jackie's been downloading lately...

Or maybe it's just pics of Eastern European cats.

:)

message 1097: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Cats. Yeah, that's it.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments No, no cats, RA. It was a Russian version of YouTube, called RuTube.
Stay away, okay? Even if it has episodes of favorite shows you REALLY want to see...
