Félix (habitseven) I'm just about to present the project I've been working on for the past few weeks to the VP in charge of my future. ::holding breath::

Good Luck Larry! You'll be a rock star and wow them all!

message 1004: by [deleted user] (new)

Good Luck Larry, I'm sure you will do fine.

message 1005: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments You'll do great, Larry!

Heidi, you, not so much. You need electricity.

:)

Right now I'm looking for a new car. My 95 Saturn has, I'm afraid, reached the end of the road.

(Breaks into Boys II Men song)

message 1006: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Nobody NEEDS electricity. It's a superb convenience. That's all.

message 1007: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments I am hoping Larry's presentation is going well.

Also that Heidi will have a good time convening with nature. : )

Félix (habitseven) Thanks everyone. I certainly appreciate the kind, supportive thoughts. The particular VP is a good guy, but a very frustrating person with whom to communicate sometimes. He and I have different philosophies when it comes to dealing with people within management systems, he being more the define/dictate/audit performance type, whereas I favor the inform/inspire/recognize approach. I trust people more than he does.

Fortunately, he's one who seems to appreciate people who speak their minds -- which I will do. Uh ... and I did that today.

I wasn't fired. So that's a good sign.

Glad you still hold your position, train man!

message 1010: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Me too. I really like eating every day.

Right now I'm sitting at my desk for the fifth straight hour, trying to finish grading this stack of papers before tomorrow's class.
I've been watching a momma squirrel and her babies in a tree outside my window all morning. She first tried to take them all en masse from this tree to another in my neighbor's yard, yet the damn dogs on the other side of my back fence scared them all. So she resorted to luring one at a time down the tree, and then she'd pick them up in her mouth and they'd hold onto her neck, while she raced across my yard, up the fence, and up the neighbor's tree.

It's been a nice distraction, rooting her on all morning.

message 1012: by [deleted user] (new)

Larry the Train guy - Still - yeah!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I would get nothing done if I had a squirrel show like that outside my window. Instead I have the maintenance guys pruning the trees. Not nearly as cute. ; )

Good luck, Larry! Break a leg, or whatever train guys are supposed to do... Bust a rail?

message 1014: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Thanks, guys. I do appreciate it.

She just ran by with a ginormous nut or snack/treat of some kind, apparently they're done with the move and now it is lunchtime.

message 1016: by Félix (last edited Apr 21, 2009 01:39PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) Seems early for baby squirrels. But I guess she knows what she's doing. Grey squirrels, Sally? Here in Omaha we have some black grey squirrels. That is, they're grey squirrels, but they're black.

Moving day isn't quite over, she's still going by with these enormous bundles in her mouth. I wonder if they're food, or maybe even a second little batch of babies?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Maybe it's lining for the new nest that she moved all her babies to?

I'm eating cheese right now, by the way. And a Fuji apple. I knew you all would want to know that. :D

Félix (habitseven) I making mac and cheese. The real thing. Not the blue box crap.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'll be right there, Larry!

Larry wrote: "I making mac and cheese. The real thing. Not the blue box crap."

Do you bake it Larry?

message 1024: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Oh yes, Jim. With breadcrumbs and parmasan on top that get toasty brown and crusty.

message 1025: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments Right now this Dutch boy is discovering what "mac and cheese" is. Ziss is tasteful wiss ze skwirrel?

message 1028: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Buckled?

message 1029: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments Maybe I mean bent? But it looks buckled.

message 1030: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Ah.

message 1031: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Btw, m & c was exquisitely good. No, it really was.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments How could homemade mac & cheese NOT be exquisite? It's the perfect comfort food!

Félix (habitseven) Yup.

I love baked mac and cheese. I love it with tomatoes. Or ham. Or broccoli (in a particular mood) or ham. Bacon is good on top.

message 1035: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Bacon!

message 1036: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments Is there a breakfast version?

message 1037: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Right now I'm up, 2:30AM. I wish I wasn't. Normally I don't mind that much but I can't modify my day much...I have to observe a student teach at 8:19 then hang around for a late afternoon student awards thing. So I've got all day just sort of, um, sitting there. I'm pretty much caught up before the rush. Maybe I'll go to the library and sleep.

message 1038: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments BACON!

Sorry... I heard it calling out from my computer.

RA, are you really able to sleep at the library? They must have comfy chairs there.

message 1039: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
8:19 is a very specific observation time

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Yeah, what's with the oddly specific student teaching time, RA?

I'm feeling sad, because my Teen Book Group ended last night, and I don't know if it's going to be able to start up again in the fall. It may not survive all the budget cuts. :(

message 1041: by RandomAnthony (last edited Apr 22, 2009 10:15AM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments How much can a teen book group cost? That sucks.

8:19 is when the class started. Don't ask me why. I just showed up to watch. I sat by the fish tank and watched the fish while I was supposed to be observing. But from what I did see of the student, well, he did a good job:)

Oh, Sherrie, the library has awesome chairs...

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments our church starts at 11:01. we feel very clever about that

message 1043: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments The Presbyterian church I visit every now and then has an 11:27 and a 5:05.

Right now, I'm grumbling to myself about the way the guitar always disappears when I want it most. I bet those boys in 106 took it again....

message 1044: by Matthieu (last edited Apr 22, 2009 09:10PM) (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments I wish I could give you mine--I haven't played it since I arrived at school. So much for being in the jazz ensemble, huh?

It's resting in its case beneath my bed.

message 1045: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I'm going to happy hour. I'm uber happy at this moment (see Woot thread) and I'm only going to get happier on $2 margaritas.

message 1046: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Enjoy, Sarah. Don't drink and drive, though.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Have fun, Sarah! What Larry said!

message 1048: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Nope, the restaurant is right down the street. :) Yay!

message 1049: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments We've all seen pictures of Sarah drunk, thanks to the "beer goggles" thread, and she looks like she'll have a damn good time at Happy Hour:)

message 1050: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Hee hee... RA, you haven't seen nothin'. That's probably the most flattering drunk picture I have. LOL
