Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Why not just wear a rubber glove?

That's a question for the ages, Kevin. It should be carved in stone and mounted on a wall somewhere in a public place.

Félix (habitseven) Sitting on my hotel room in Tucson tonight. Oh how beautiful is is here tonight.

message 757: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Today's sunset was not so beautiful. Clouds came out of nowhere at the end of our perfect mid-seventy-degree day. It is supposed to rain tomorrow. : /

Right now I'm sitting at my desk, listening to the public jazz radio station. Just finished a lesson plan for tomorrow, and I'm finishing up the final two slacker papers. I have my own work to get to next, and then I go to the Jr. High to tutor a student who is trying to write a novel.
I had a migrane yesterday, and my headache medicine lingers and makes me slow the next day, like a haze in my synapses.

message 759: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's going up to 90 here in Tucson today.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I don't think I could live in Tuscon, Larry. I lived in Texas because I thought I preferred hot weather, but I didn't know what I was getting into.

I'm sorry you're feeling hazy, Sally. I do, too. I'm at home, feeling very sick today. Achy all over, and a nasty cough. Bleah.

Not my idea of a good souvenir from my trip, but I'm sure that's where I got it - on one of those planes. The plane from Buenos Aires was PACKED, and huge. And full of unhappy people, as it left an hour late. I bet one of those grouchy people was a germ bomb...

message 761: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I like it dryer. So far, the temp is not oppressive here.

Hope you feel better soon, Jackie.

message 762: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Jackie sounds very sick on facebook. If she's too sick to get on the computer much, you know she's sick. That'll teach her to take a vacation.

Right now I'm thinking of drinking coffee and working out (not at the same time, that would get messy) by 5:30 so I can hit a coffee shop by 6:30 and work for a while until I have to do the "sick kid" duty with one of my sons all day. I'm trying not to see this as a major inconvenience and rather as an opportunity to hang out with my son. I'm about 25% successful at this point.

message 763: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's the right thing to do, RA.

message 764: by Ivy (new)

Ivy (theafricangourmet) RA, its an opportunity to hang out with your son

message 765: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Yeah, two of them are home, actually..fun so far:)

Just saw this pic online:

message 766: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments working on a monsta spreadsheet. my mind is swirling with numbers. is this what happens when you actually have to work?

message 767: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's it, kevin. I'm editing a monsta document created by a monsta consultant whom I would like to brain about now. Impending deadline, not enough time to get it right the first time.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Yep, I'm still sick, though I'm feeling better than yesterday, when I couldn't even finish reading the threads here on TC before falling asleep, let alone post.

Today, my big ambitions are to get better, and to make toast. I've got the butter out so it'll spread easier, because I'm just not up to dealing with rock hard butter today... ; )

message 769: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments wow, that is pretty sick when you need softened butter

message 770: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Get better soon, Librarian.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Thanks, Larry.
Kevin, even when I'm NOT sick, I hate trying to spread butter right out of the refrigerator. It's futile, I tell you! :D

message 772: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments futile to resist?

(you even talk like a trekkie)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Why, thank you, Kevin! But I'm not a fanatic. I don't like Earl Grey tea, so even though Picard drinks it, I don't. I'm reasonable.

And I would NEVER wear my Star Trek uniform to jury duty.

message 774: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell It's a good way to get out of jury duty.

message 775: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments It didn't work for Liz Lemon, unfortunately...but wait, no, that was a Princess Leia outfit...

message 776: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments yeah, my Worf masks doesn't go over well in traffic court either

Jackie, get one of these! It works like magic!

message 778: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell That's a nice crock.

message 779: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Do you have one of those, Sally?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments What a crock! Hee!

Well, someone had to say it... Sally, that looks cool. I wonder if there's a Fiestaware version?

message 781: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I do have one. I don't know if there is a fiestaware version, but mine came in a variety of colors.

message 782: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Currently listening to Erik Satie's Socrate while working on a paper about combinatorics. Also, working on several Luttinger liquid equations.

I have a fascinating life...

message 783: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments I haven't heard that one, Matthew, but what I've heard of his stuff has always been very soothing (his Gnossiennes are probably one of my favorite piano... what would you call it? a collection?).

I am boiling water for a large mug of tea. I've pulled out my most comfortable pillow to accompany me through the last cantos of Dante's hell. It's been a long day.

message 784: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments I'd like to consider myself a Satie aficionado; I grew up playing his compositions on the piano and guitar. Brilliant, brilliant man. I have much to say on the subject.

Canto XXXIII was always one of my favourites. Ugolino...

That sounds like a nice evening, actually...

Right now I'm drinking coffee and getting ready to work out before going in for what will be the last day before a quick Easter break.

I like Dante...must go back and re-read that eventually...

message 786: by Ivy (new)

Ivy (theafricangourmet) I'm working on a new book, Food Haiku to be exact Farmers fields give birth nature gift to mankind life blooms from soils kindness. I have not worked everything out but I know I want to fuse food and poetry.

message 787: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I went to bed at 8 o'clock last night because I was pooped and because I was hoping that a good night's rest would render me bright-eyed and bushy-tailed this morning. No such luck. I woke this morning with THE most ridiculous headache. I've washed down an aspirin and an ibuprofen tablet with my morning diet coke in the hope that it'll go away. It can't work fast enough. So far... still waiting. Ugh.

message 788: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments MOTHER F*CKING HEADACHE!!! GO! AWAY!

Dammit.

message 789: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That sucks. Hope it gets better soon.

message 790: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Tucson airport, waiting for a ride-in-the-sky homeward today. Hey guess what? The national travel advisory threat level is now ORANGE! WOW!! When did that change? (like 2003?) I can't believe they still make that stupid announcement.

I bet NSA will pick up on this post and start trailing me now. *sigh*

I hate being so cynical. Somebody say something to make me stop, please.

message 791: by Heidi (last edited Apr 09, 2009 08:48AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments It's gone now. :) Thanks, Larry.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Still home, sick. Drinking yet another mug of tea, and have big plans for oatmeal, later. Oatmeal with walnuts and raisins and cinnamon and stuff.

When I called in today, my boss told me to stay home tomorrow, too. Guess I sound pretty bad...

Read a whole book yesterday, which was nice. I may read another book today!

message 793: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's great, Heidi -- but I'm still cynical about national security shams.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Oh, and Larry, stop! Enjoy the ridiculousness of the color spectrum of our security level status.
Imagine what the colors would be, and be called, if it had been devised by the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy team. I'm sure they'd be soothing earthtones....

message 795: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Thanks, Jackie. That worked like a charm. :)

message 796: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) The oatmeal sounds very good, Jackie. Enjoy.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Thanks, Larry! You know, for a train guy, you sure FLY a lot...

message 798: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I avoid trains like the plague.

message 799: by Heidi (last edited Apr 09, 2009 09:49AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I like to add flavored coffee creamer to my oatmeal (irish coffee's my fave). :) It makes it super yummy... doesn't need much, either.

message 800: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments just got back from a very nice 3+ hour round trip drive to a project site. I took only side and back roads and it was beautiful. A nice cruise.
