It was freakishly cold and windy here this morning, but it never snowed. Now the sun is out so I think the worst of it is over.
It was freakishly cold here, too. Driving to work I thought of how much this morning felt like February.
I am sitting at my desk in the tax office reading East of Eden. It is slow today, but the book is very good. I can't believe it snowing where you guys are at.
I've lived in California too long to associate late March with snow.
I love East of Eden.Right now I'm up, 5:14AM, after crashing last night at 7. Man, I needed that. Yesterday was a long day. Today I'm working at home.
I was channel-surfing this morning and stumbled upon Mtv where, much to my surprise, they were actually playing music videos.
edit: They're playing old videos, too...I saw Shakira and Missy Elliot.
Hope you're on your way home, Larry...
Right now I´m figuring out how to get my laundry done by a service, because I´m running out of clean clothes.
Hm. With Jackie's language challenges this whole laundry service thing could be, ahem, rather interesting...
yeah, asking if someone can wash your clothes could come out like:"Is it possible to display my panties?"

East of Eden is one of my 2 favorite books ever!
I´m in pain. My feet are KILLING me! Today, after dropping off the laundry without creating an international incident, Chris and I went the wrong direction, and had to figure out the Metro to get to the zoo today. Yesterday, we tried to go to the zoo, but it´s closed on Mondays. After the zoo, we went to Ateneo Grand Splendid, the biggest bookstore in South America. Gotta say, compared to both Powell´s and The Elliott Bay Book Company, it didn´t have that much selection. But it was very pretty, nonetheless. The store is modeled after the Paris Opera House on the inside, with two balconies! And a cafe on the stage, where I enjoyed cafe con leche, and managed to order it correctly and everything!
Off to dinner now...
What now, Matthew? Jackie, I hope your feet feel better...
Today is going to be busy as hell.
I'm in the office now. Then I go to a school for an observation. Then I return to the office. Then I go back to the same school for a different observation. Then I go to a different school for another observation. Then I come back to the office for a meeting. Then I check in on a panel discussion the student government group organized. Then I go home.
At least today will not go slowly. Have a good one, everyone.
Busy is as busy does. Wait ... that makes no sense. Have a good one, anyway. I'll be trying to get through Denver again today.
Anthony: I was congratulating the incoming freshman class. In other words, the Princeton class of 2013. I didn't have much to say, so it was rather awkward. They're quite annoying. "Please, Mr. Freshman (soon to be sophomore--holy shit!), please tell us everything that we already know about Princeton!"So. Lame.
Ah...got it, Matty.:)Right now I'm working up the self-discipline to grade papers. Ready...set...go!
I´m all packed up and ready to fly home, but my flight isn´t until evening. I think a visit to the Evita Museum is in order...
Right now I'm emailing my clients just to check in. This can also be translated as killing time until noon, which is when I am leaving work today. Headed to Arkansas to dig for diamonds!!!
I'm presently editing a document written by someone who uses 40 words to say what can easily be said with 10. To call the man verbose is being kind. Words are disappearing faster than I've ever seen them disappear, leaving no trace of the verbosity they carry. So many words ... so little time. Words, begone!
I'm counting down the minutes until I can go home to read the book I borrowed from the library - I loooove reading Douchan Gersi! He's a French explorer/documentarian - v. articulate, humorous, engaging storytelling, seems to appreciate the strangeness of the situations into which he gets himself (befriending a tribe of headhunters, fighting pirates, getting lost in the jungles of Borneo).
I've read another of his books, and couldn't put it down while reading it. I'd love to watch some of his documentaries about his adventures. They're not available through the public library, though. :(
Right now I'm fighting off a headache and finishing a midterm writing project that is due at 5pm.
Sally! Not on Friday night! No! No! No!I'm so damn glad to be done with work. I'm gettin' drunk.
Hope you feel better to, Sarah, and you found a book, Ivy...
I'm with you, RA. First bottle of wine is gone already. Hang in there, Sally. We're in your corner, you know.
I'm unwinding for the weekend. It's a very good feeling -- except when I think about how quickly the weeks are passing in my life. Scares the living shit out of me these days.
Matthew -- grab ahold of life right now. This is the real thing. There are no dress rehearsals.
So depressing on a Friday night! If I've only got a blip, I'm going to spend it happily. Off to the movies, then! I hope I don't fall asleep.
I'm home! With my cats, who are shedding like no one's petted them for a week. Which is NOT the case, because the neighbors do come check them twice a day, but apparently they need more than that.Time for brushing and MORE brushing of the cats.
And tea, on MY couch. Yay!
Right now my wife and kids are watching television and eating popcorn. My wife is eating popcorn with a "popcorn fork". I swear I have never seen this utensil and I mocked her (gently) for using it. But I looked it up online and apparently they are fairly common.http://www.gadgetgrid.com/wp-content/...
Mock away, RA! The very idea of a popcorn fork is ridiculous. On the other hand, popcorn sounds DELICIOUS! :::wanders off to make some:::
