Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments thanks bun. because i am really active and am in seemingly good shape one tends to forget that you can look healthy and not really be that healthy. i got off eating clean a few years back after an injury and now realize that i am a high risk candidate for heart issues because of my genetics and unhealthy eating. all stuff i already knew but tried not to think about. i recently had a massive vision change that happened suddenly that prompted this investigation

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Kevin are you taking the meds for the cholesterol??

message 5554: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments no, starting lipator today. my bad cholesterol (LDL) count was like 310.

Is that all you think about, burnout?

message 5559: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments You know you wanted to know, Clark. You're welcome.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Lipitor is a pain to take every day--my husband has taken it for about 10 years. Recently he was able to reduce his dose to 1/2 a pill per day.

Victory! Lipitor is a good drug and VERY commonly prescribed. As our friend Dr. Brown likes to say, the risks associated with Lipitor are nothing when compared to the risks of sky-high cholesterol.

message 5564: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I love talking Lipitor, but can we switch back to dogs/mutts/purebreds for a few minutes? I looked at a sweet 2-year-old dog at the animal shelter today. She was a stray but is crate and house-trained. I checked and she was sweet to two little kids who were visiting and indifferent to the cats we met. She was a Lab/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix, we guessed. She is red like an Irish Setter (shorter, coarser hair) with pretty root beer colored eyes.

Does anyone know anything about this Chesapeake breed? I'm pretty familiar with labs, but not the Chesapeake breed. She is a little thin and needs de-worming but knew some commands and was very sweet and had good eye contact.

janine | 7709 comments right now i'm trying to catch up with the crazy that is TC. i've been away for less than 24 hours and already am feeling very overwhelmed.

i had an interview at a publisher today. i think i've convinced them to give me an internship (nine weeks). i hear from them next week.

message 5566: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Good luck janine.

Sarah | 13814 comments I've known some nice Chessies. They need exercise and stimulation, like most working breeds. Here's a good site for them - it gives some "don't get a Chessie if..."

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments @ Cynthia, I don't have a lot of personal experience with this breed but this link might help you get some good info.

janine | 7709 comments they told me i practically have it, but some logistics still need to be figured out (there was no opening, i just wrote a letter). if that can be arranged i'm in.

Thanks Sarah I read that--She must be a mix as she is only 40 pounds or so. But the waterproof coat definitely looks like her.

I have my fingers crossed for you, Janine. That's really great news.

Sarah | 13814 comments Yeah, my main dog preach is get a dog that has an energy level that matches what you can give. I hate seeing bored and shut-in working dogs.

message 5578: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Oh yes, I hate it when people use their dogs for lawn ornaments. Or are stupid enough to wonder why fluffy is eating the furniture while they're gone all day. GRRRR...frickin' dumbasses!

janine | 7709 comments done!

Agreed. I don't get the sense that she is high energy, but like my Grace, I think she likes to have a job to do.

Oh. Provisionally, I'll rescind the "way to go," Janine, but I'm confident I'll be able to reissue it when you get the final word on your internship.

Stina (stinalee) | 749 comments Right now, I am packing up two tiers of cake (alternating chocolate and yellow layers with chocolate fudge and cream cheese frosting) that I have crumb coated (buttercream frosting) and smoothed in preparation for my last cake decorating class of this session! It's wedding cake night and I should learn all sorts of things.

But, what in the hell am I going to do with a freaking wedding cake??

message 5589: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Eat it.

That's just it Britt, I've been eating cakes for 7 weeks now and I don't think I have the stamina to give two tiers a go.

I love cake though... maybe I'll give it a try?

Right now I'm preparing my interview portfolio and mini lesson for a BIG teaching interview tomorrow. Wish me luck. I'm terrified.
