joan hess problem with name and titles

Joan Hess is a prolific author. Her books are separated under Joan E. Hess and Joan Hess. Book covers do not show the E. Book titles also incorrect for some. Since this was done on purpose any problem with my fixing?

It appears to have been done on purpose because the books under the Joan E. Hess is the same as titles under just Joan Hess. But many of those titles under Hess (no middle E) are listed as Maggod (instead of Maggody) and such. No reason I can see for the split.

The question really is whether a human being did it this way for a reason, and I shouldn't do anything to change it back, or whether this was possibly accidentally computer generated (on purpose, but by accident?) and it just needs to be fixed.

Sorry about the brevity of the previous post. When I write on my Kindle, it takes too much one finger typing to be more explicit.

At least some of the Joan E. Hess are sourced from Onix, according to the librarian change log. I'm not seeing any covers with the initial included; I'd merge the profiles, imho.
