Michelle I would like to know if I should read this book... could anyone tell me what it's about or if they liked it?

Eric Bruen I can tell I liked it and was glad I read it. I won't bother telling you what it's about or why I liked it. Have a look at the 3000 reviews already on goodreads

It's well worth the read. The romance is a little involved, as it's a diary, but I strongly recommend it!

Michelle, This book is definitely worth the read. I read the book with my daughters when they were preteens and it offered them a real growing experience. I wished I had read it when I was younger.

Michelle Awesome! Thanks for commenting!

Rose Neild This is an important read in terms of understanding the common experience of humanity no matter where, no matter when, no matter what is going on around you but also because if we don't read we will never know and this is so important. one day try to be in amsterdam and visit the house where anne frank wrote her diary too. words fail me, but i ceratinly know how lucky i am.

Michelle Thanks! This definitly helped me!

Paula I read this when I was nearly 16 and I strongly identified with Anne, especially in her relations with her mother. It is amazing that someone of Anne's age could write so well and see herself and her family so well. And of course there is the tragedy of her and so many others' cruel and unnecessary deaths--murder--in the Holocaust. This book is a must-read.

Nancy I read this book as a teen, and I too identified with Anne. I read it again as an older adult, and I was amazed at the different view I had of the story. I had then looked at the story as a mother. I have read a lot of books on the holocaust, and this is an excellent example of how the Jews were treated during World War II. The diary takes place during the time Anne and her family are hiding from the Nazi's. They also had other Jewish people hiding out with them, and Anne writes of their interactions. It is a sad story, but a very good book to read.

Michelle It sounds very interesting...

Michele It is a part of history that must be read. Anne was very precocious and her writing brilliant. She was a victim of the Nazi Regime as well as so many others. Her Diary is a reflection of the atrocities that effected her family and friends. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I cried during the book knowing that such evil does exist in the world. It is a shame.

Yes you should, it is a truly moving book.

yooliah Yes.

Harry The point is to first study the details of the relocation of the Jews to the east..................then read the diary.

Paula Comfort I highly agree with Rose on message #9. This is one of the most important books you can read in reference to The Holocaust. I have read it a number of times at different ages in my life. I have visited the National Holocaust Museum in Wash. DC several times and having read a number of books on the Holocaust, especially this one deepened my understanding of one of the most horrific periods in history. Anne's positive personality survived even the most difficult of times and certainly her diary to Kitty helped her maintain her positive outlook on life and process relationships with her family and others. You will not regret reading this book.
