Nymn (nymne) | 32 comments Here's another book that's been puzzling me for years. Not popular or anything as far as I know but I'll give it a shot here anyway: Mother and daughter live in a house in America I think. Possibly England. In the past. Anytime between 60s to 90s. The girl's probably between 16 to 18 and not particularly mature or really much of an interesting character. She's a school girl.

They rent out one of the rooms one day to a slightly older blind guy and the protagonist becomes friends with him. There isn't really any romance, it's just a slow paced slice of life style of story. However, I'm certain the girl and the blind guy kissed near the end. There's also a scene where she took off her outter layer of clothes during summer and walked around the house as such. I think her mum was a little scandalised initially, her doing so in front of a man but it eventually became a norm.

Anna | 207 comments This sounds very much like See You Thursday by Jean Ure, which is set in the UK.

Marianne, the protagonist, is frequently accused by her mother and teachers of being immature; she is very against the idea of her mother taking in a blind lodger, but gradually develops feelings for him. There is definitely a scene, or rather a paragraph, in which her mother says to Marianne that she shouldn't run in and out of the bathroom dressed just in a towel now that there's a man in the house.

Jean Ure wrote a sequel, After Thursday, in which Marianne and Abe are going out with each other.
