Thanks Amber. I didn't know that the 3 book came up. But now I have a dilemma what to read first. I started Kitty in the Underworld (Kitty Norville, #12) by Carrie Vaughn but can't seem to get really into it. I bought today Biting Bad (Chicagoland Vampires, #8) by Chloe Neill and was thinking of reading it today but now that Blood Revolution (God Wars #3) by Connie Suttle I'm lost. So much good books at once, what to do? :(

Oh, I've read Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews and liked it, but I thought like something was missing, not quite sure what. But all in all it was a good read.

I want to read Angel's Ink...but it's a paperback and I'm concerned about how it might fare on the beach.

@margo I would wait if you hate cliff hangers. This one was huge worse than the last book. Next book is scheduled for sept I wish I could have waited tell that was out. Just wow I wanted to throw the book when I finished but since it was on iPad (no go).

Margo | 663 comments @ Amber - another cliff hanger? Seriously, what is it with Connie Suttle and cliff hangers? Well, yeah, I guess it's a good thing for selling books, 'cause you just must read another one, but common!

message 3310: by Amber (new)

Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3) by Laurell K. Hamilton

Gah, I had forgotten how irritating parts of this book were. Anita was a so stubborn (to the point of idiocy) and whiney … her naiveté was lol inducing too… Oh so much you have changed Ms. Blake….

Bleh @ this being the book where Richard comes in. I didn’t know he would turn out to be a bi-polar, freakazoid, crybaby then. I just knew he had bad taste in clothes … those damn Bill Cosby sweaters, really.

I liked JC, mostly, from the start, (If I ignored his fashion tastes) Richard was just … too pansy ass?

I picked Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews back up and I'm really liking it. Vacation is very good for getting reading done.

Finished Fifth Grave Past the Light. Omg I am totally looking into a map app that has those voices. I cracked up so hard. "Your going the wrong foocking way" "lost you will be". My husband keeps giving me weird looks.

I like the voice my sister has on hers. It sounds like a bored american till you get a spanish sounding name (we live near San Antonio so duh there will be spanish names) and it is like a switch is flipped and the GPS is actually a spanish speaking person for the one pronouncement, which has the added bonus of the voice being very emotional/energetic about it. Then it goes back to the hum drum boring voice.

message 3318: by Amber (new)

Amber (mixiemoon) | 233 comments @claire I agree the books are going down but her stupidness is pretty funny and slightly annoying sometimes. I like it tho oddly

@llaph her gps in the book was darth vader, ozzy Osborne, and yoda.

Sadly iPhone won't let me change the voices android has files that u can add but I can't find anything for mine :(.

Started Last Blood

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments @ Amber:

My sister uses a tomtom and she doesn't use it much when I am in the car ... because we know where we are going hah. I am not sure if she has other voices, I would so pick the yoda one though.
I know that there is turn by turn and pedestrian gps apps for the iphone. I would so want to use a different voice if I could lol. I haven't messed with it though, since I don't really get out much. :x

Sarah Wilson | 404 comments Read very little in July. The first week I was on vacation and only read on the drive. Reread the first two Cassie books and liked them as much as the first time. Funny to see Pritkin back then. Then in the hospital 7/15-7/21 and felt too crummy to read then. Now I'm still behind on reading due to recovery and all the catch up on things at home plus kid activities. I've lost weeks of summer with the kids:(
I read: Accidentally Yours by Bettye Griffin was a Kindle freebie. It was bad, horrible writing,1 star.
As You Wish by Eloisa James was enjoyable,3 stars.
Like Jake and Me by Mavis Jukes gets 1 star. I often don't rate kids books I read with my kids. This one was pretty bad for several reasons.
I, Spy? (Sophie Green Mystery, #1) by Kate Johnson was OK. Gave it 3 stars. Another freebie. I'm not going to continue the series.
Lady Bess by Claudy Conn yet another freebie. 3 stars but unmemorable. Seriously can't remember much about it even after rereading the blurb but I remember finding it enjoyable.

I love Edward but didn't like Obsidian Butterfly. Blue Moon was my least favorite by far. I was so pissed off when she got back with Richard that I put the book down for a while.

Reading Haunted on Bourbon Street (Jade Calhoun, #1) by Deanna Chase . So far it's pretty good. I'm about 21% in.

I liked Blue Moon for other reasons besides perma-pms Richard. It is not one of my favorites though, probably because I already know what a dumbass Richard is. I am in the middle of Narcissus in Chains right now ... talk about irritating as hell. I think I like the books without Richard more lol.

I always wondered how people must have felt when Anita ran away from her love life. That was a bold move for a series that revolves partially around sex.

message 3331: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments I think after reading the series so many times and knowing the bulk, if not the details, of what is going to happen make me want to mentally yell more that they are all f'ing idiots and to quit being so stupid.

The series didn't really get that into sex till after Obsidian Butterfly really. I guess the impact would have been more back when it first came out. I know I would have been irritated to say the least--you are right though.
It seems just as it might be going okay and getting better, relationships included, there is a big neener neener and that hope is crushed.

god allergies suck

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) anyways.... read The Iron Wyrm Affair (Bannon & Clare, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow which wasn't as good as I was hoping The Unidentified by Rae Mariz which was better than I was expecting and now im reading Long Time Dead (Torchwood, #17) by Sarah Pinborough which is alright and has already freaked me out a few times already!! lol

message 3334: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I finished Blood Song (Raven's Shadow, #1) by Anthony Ryan and it was utterly amazing. It's the best book I've read all year.

I also read Biting Bad (Chicagoland Vampires, #8) by Chloe Neill and it was OK. It was probably a little better than some of the previous instalments, but it might have suffered from my reading it straight after the best book I've read all year LOL! There's no way it was going to follow that easily. The ending was quite satisfying though, I'll say that.

message 3335: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments Oh good Lannister, because that is what I'm reading now. Biting Bad (Chicagoland Vampires, #8) by Chloe Neill . Good God there is too much talking/thinking going on a lot of the times. Am I bloodthirsty when I think “just hurry up and kill them already, screw politics”? (That or, just hurry up and get the sex going already damnit.)

message 3341: by Aileen (new)

Aileen | 867 comments @Llaph, I know how you feel. Anita Blake went from "okay" to "sex what felt like every other page".

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments I wanted to skip ahead at times, but I am listening to it and I just couldn't do it for some reason lol.

Seriously ... Jason Skyler or Shyler?? She needs a continuity, or whatever they are called, editor/person to point things out.

message 3345: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Maybe it is, I will have to wait till I listen to Blood Noir to see how she says it in that book. I looked it up and yeah it is Schuyler. My screen reader pronounces it as "Skyler". I maybe remembering stuff wrong, who knows!

Pet peeve here ... Nathaniel has long ass hair ... but unbraids it before bed?? When I had super long hair I would have rather braided it before I went to bed, or have a tangled mess sometimes.

Wee <3 Wicked & Truth

I remember now that it could just be the narrator, in the Merry series there is one narrator who does it throughout and at the beginning of the series she says Doyle as doi-ehl and the last 2 books she says dohl like Dole bananas or something. In the AB series there are a few different people who narrate and there are two different ones for both books … so yeah.

message 3349: by Aileen (new)

Aileen | 867 comments I'm so happy you heart the Wicked Truth!!! They may be my favs...next to JC, sometimes Asher, and the Traveler (vamp wise anyway). I wish there was more of the Traveler in the books, he was so epic...

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Finished:
Micah (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #13) by Laurell K. Hamilton

I am pretty sure the Traveler is the only vamp that I like who is on the council … I am thinking he was learning how to not be a total douche. JC, I like him, but I sometimes feel sorry for him with having to deal with Anita, Richard, and Asher. Asher has the tendency to act like a pouty little kid. >< It is kind of like he is a teacher presiding over a class of kindergarteners sometimes with how stubborn and dense people can be. lol
The Wicked Truth is great; I wish they showed up more in stories. I can deal with Anita not sleeping with them, as she says … her dance card is full. Just you know … threaten and torture enemies, look all growly and tough, and offer up helpful insights into Anita’s thinking too much about stuff is something they can do.
