What are you reading?
I hope you finally get through widow's web Llaph... I think once you read it the owen/gin stuff will make more sense. I read the owen novella, and I'M SUPER EXCITED for the next book. SU. PER. EX. CI. TED.
hi. I just finished (for now) the Experiment in Terror series. Let me know recommend this series to you all. it is by Karina Halle. :)
I'm currently reading
. I was expecting a slightly cheesy story featuring a hot Scottish ghost hunter. For a free book I figured I'd give it a shot. Well...it's not very good. Not bad, but the book doesn't have nearly enough romance to make up for weak plot execution. Interesting concept, weak execution.
@zeenat:I got the novella too, I had the series (plus the shorrts) loaded onto my reader ... getting the novella and the next book being out soon made my choice for me. My library is rather right on the money for books being available on the date of pub if it is a pocket book. So I know I will be able to read it asap. I love reading series back to back.
The way you typed out super excited ... lol to describe how that sounded to my screenreader
Prolly as excited as I am about tomorrow?!?! katekatekatekatekate
Maggie wrote: "hi. I just finished (for now) the Experiment in Terror series. Let me know recommend this series to you all. it is by Karina Halle. :)"First book's free for the Kindle, so I grabbed it. Thanks, Maggie! :)
OMG I am SU. PER. EX. CI. TED. for Kate too :) And the next greywalker comes out next month. And The next Tybalt... errr... Toby book come out beginning of September :D
I thought the next KD book came out August 1? Are you guys getting your books early? @Zeenat I am SOOOO excited for Chimes at Midnight, particularly after the end of Ashes of Honor. Wooooo Tybalt!!
Finished:Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep
Oh man … Donovan is such a douche-bag. I am glad I won’t see him for a bit. I try to never say I hate someone, it is just not right to be honest, but he so tries that in me. (Yes, I know he is a character, bite me.)
I hope I won’t have to wait too long for Magic Rises. I am excited for the next Toby book too now that I caught up on the series. :X
I am a nerd and keep a doc for new releases I want to keep my eye on, sorted by month/date. Then I have a "got" doc to edit ... I have this issue with keeping notes on stuff....
Llaph that's what my to read list here and on fictfact is for. I have a system lol I think a lot of us readers are that way!
I got used to using docs before I found GR so I still use them. I had books on my tbr shelf that I had forgot about.... I am just stubborn I guess! I would probably forget about them, since my normal way of reminding myself is out now (post its on my monitor hehe)Should have seen my desktop when I could still see, I had txts/lists/notes for a lot of things. I think that started when I used to work tech support lol.
The organization for my books ... ya OCD right there dude.
Finished:Venom (Elemental Assassin, #3) by Jennifer Estep
I get the urge to eat something when I read these books sometimes. Grrr eye talk aside (I think I blew that out of proportion a bit ) Estep does make characters that evoke strong feelings outta me. I can’t remember another that did this too me … I took an ambien…. Woooo swirlies
This ambien is not helping me with my mental powers of stealing your copy of magic rises, I think I shall ask for a refund.
I just finished my 18th book this month,
The Grimm Legacy (The Grimm Legacy #1) by Polly Shulman. My next book is
Undead to the World (The Bloodhound Files, #6) by D.D. Barant
I'm reading
. The concept is interesting and I like the plot, but the grammar is consistently bad. I don't know if I can keep reading because my brain keeps stumbling over errors in the text. It's distracting, and annoying. A published author should know how to use an apostrophe, damn it!
Finished:Cold Company by A.J. Aalto
I love authors that have freebies for an awesome series. Going back to Gin now, have to keep my mind off not having Magic Rises yet.

What did you think of Cold Company? I haven't read it yet but I want to.
@ Zeenat:I rather liked it too, I don't have a favorite for the series yet though.
@claire:
I loved the story ... it is just a short sort of I guess consulting thing. There isn't that much to it, but I loved Marnie's one liners and Harry so I did't pay too much attention to the story. Now I want to go read the first two books.
It did talk more about her powers and how Wes and Harry can affect them. The sock puppet part was funny too.
I love Marnie ... not because her name sounds like my maiden name or we share the same middle name and occasionally get called MJ....
It was in kindle and I don't know how to use the app on my computer so I can't cut and paste the exact quotes....
One of the constables asks Marnie if she got the fax she sent her. Marnie replys with "Let me go back to 1993 and go get it" or something like that lol.
The comment she made about Harry doing a bump and grind to disco while wearing a cherry red apron and shiny jack boots....
Llaph wrote: "@claire:The comment she made about Harry doing a bump and grind to disco while wearing a cherry red apron and shiny jack boots..."Oh that is such an unfair image to put in my head. I want one of my own!!
Llaph wrote: "I got used to using docs before I found GR so I still use them.... The organization for my books ... ya OCD right there dude. "LOL - You're not alone.
Mine even counts down to release date...:)
Started
, and barely a third in, I'm annoyed. What on earth possessed D.S.D to create such annoying characters!! Casper wasn't NEARLY so self-indulgent in W.A.T.C! And oooh... Ahna is a total ROYAL pain in the ass! (pun intended).
I wanted to just slap her! But that would just lead to more whining!

@Jax:In total agreement with that book ... I so wanted to see wtf with Casper and was sort of sadfacey about it. She is a whiny ... insertbadword here. I loved everything else for the most part though (as in previous books and stories).
Yup... D.S.D is lucky she threw in Keen... or I'd have thrown in the proverbial towel already...
But I wanna know more about her... She's, hmmm, quirky. :)
I'm a little perplexed by the arrival of Tish and Crim though. From what I gathered in W.A.T.C her 'gift' was limited to touch... so I wonder how she came by an object which led them there?
Okay so I finished with Sookie's books and I have to say... I am so disappointed :( I will probably read
but only to know how it ends and that's it.Now reading
and later planing to read
and
, not know what I'll start reading first yet, ah decisions, decisions :)
My review for both:Magic Rises http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Kitty in the Underworld http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Don't worry, I kept it as spoiler free as possible :)
@Jax:I think she can gather images or feelings off of stuff she touches, sort of like precog? It has been a bit since I read the first book tbh. I kind of wish the rest of the books were all Tish and Crimeny.... lol
Keen is interesting, I wonder how she got pulled over to that world.
@Margo:
Don't forget the free 2.5 story for Marnie off of amazon. I posted the link in the general thread.
I gave up on Kitty on Kitty's House of Horrors.... Okay, truth is my library quit putting them up and I forgot about that series till someone mentioned it. :P
I never finished Wicked as They Come. I just couldn't get into it. I'm looking forward to Magic Rises and I'm still reading
. It's odd because I'm only 35% of the way in but there's a big battle looming. I would have expected that from the climax, so I'm interested in seeing where the author goes from here.
Finished:Touched (The Marnie Baranuik Files #1) by A.J. Aalto
I just like Marnie bunches. Maybe it is juvenile … but I find her funny with her being a foul-mouthed, sarcastic bitch who is an unrepentant perv and a self-acknowledged dufus.

Nope I love her too. Although I really love Batten and Harry. Really, I love the whole world.
I just finished my 1st book this month,

Fall of Night (The Morganville Vampires #14) by Rachel Caine

Thank you XXX
@Margo Cold Company was good. I was worried when Aalto said it'd be darker than usual, but I still enjoyed it.I'm still on
. It's a long book, but that weirdly redeemed it for me. It's given the author the opportunity to develop the characters and do interesting things with the plot. Probably only going to be three stars for me though, because my brain keeps stumbling over misplaced periods and commas. It's an annoying distraction in an otherwise good story.
I am in the middle of re-reading Death Rejoices--Aalto said that short was darker? lolHer descriptions and wording to do the describing are so spot on, they are f'ing gross. Then again this book has a lot of zombies and zombies freak me the hell out anyway.
@Llaph Not going to lie, I couldn't read about the rotting zombies and eat lunch at the same time. But Batten is just so goddamn sexy he fixes it.

“Don’t laugh at the zombie weiner … you’ll reveal your location … don’t laugh at the zombie weiner … you will give away your location.”
There are so many wtflol one liners from Marnie….
Nothing really grosses me out … it came close tonight though. I was eating my dinner and listening to the book when Marnie and Mark first see the prego revenant/zombie rise … I was so glad I couldn’t see what I was eating. I am also glad I hadn’t gotten to the last scene of zombies in the book … omfg that is so very gross lol.

Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep
I had forgotten about the rampant eye talking … I didn’t forget how much I really dislike the annoyingly stubborn idealistic Donovan Caine though.
