Been on a trip since 6/27 and got back last night. So I started re-reading the Cassie books during the drive. In June I read Forbidden by Kelley Armstrong, a short story in her Women of the Otherworld series. I liked it.
Wrecked by Shiloh Walker was eh, forgettable.
The Psy-Changling series by Nalini Singh is ok. PNR is not my thing.
Read The Abandoned by Amanda Stevens, a prequel to her Graveyard Queen series and it was intriguing. So I started the first book The Restorer and am liking it.
The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead. It was ok. This is my least favorite of her series.
Quite liked Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, part of her Infernal Devices trilogy. It is better than her Mortal Instruments of which I read City of Fallen Angels. It was ok.
Read two Jill Myles books. She doesn't write superb, favorite books but they are usually fun and entertaining. Betrothed and The Beast's Bride were good. Betrothed had an interesting setting and a different take on vampires. The Beast's Bride was a cute, funny take on Beauty and the Beast.
Can't figure out why Amazon can put a book on for $5.99 and charge $8.89 for the kindle. Ebooks don't cost anywhere as much to publish as a paperback.
Agreed, Diane. Things like this drive me nuts because it's nonsensical. There are physical costs associated with paper books (printing, distribution etc) that ebooks either don't have or the costs are tiny. You reminded of this thing about MP3 vs CD, which is even more ludicrous.

How about e-books costing $14.99 ... or around there. Hi2waiting for my library to get Heart of Obsidian in ... and Afliction.(That is from my browsing I-Book store ... amazon might be different.)
I just finished my 5th book this month,
Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. My next book is
Deeper Than Midnight (Midnight Breed #9) by Lara Adrian
Diane wrote: "Can't figure out why Amazon can put a book on for $5.99 and charge $8.89 for the kindle. Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1) by Jenn BennettI liked the world, it was something new, but the story was kind of wishy-washy to me with some things. I liked it regardless and am hoping the next book gets better.
Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2) by Jenn BennettI liked this book better than the first book. Erm, this makes me look like I read entirely too much … oh wait … I do.
Finished
think I'll take a break before I start
I was irritated with some of the second book and need to take a breath before diving back in.
Finished:Binding the Shadows (Arcadia Bell, #3) by Jenn Bennett
Grrr @ cliffhanger @ the end of the book. I thought the other book I had was like book 4, but noooooo it is 2.5. My OCD about missing something in a series was tingling for a reason I guess. Now to wait till like … 2014, Bleh.
I want a damn tail I am jealous.
Read Leashing the Tempest (Arcadia Bell, #2.5) by Jenn Bennett rq....
I just finished my 6th book this month,
Deeper Than Midnight (Midnight Breed #9) by Lara Adrian. My next book is
Time Untime (Dark-Hunter, #22; Were-Hunter #9; Hellchaser, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Finished The Girl with the Dragon TattooGoing back to reading Red Country but probably will soon start the sequel to the girl with the draqon tattoo.

It's a great series - I read it a couple of times. I made a comment on your review about the Swedish mini-series on the trilogy with Roomi Rapace as Lisbet. It is a really good series, and does a great job of sticking to the books. I enjoyed watching it; there are a few spots that are different from the books, but that's to be expected anymore.
I already read a Witches' Handbook. I just finished My Life as a White Trash Zombie. I kind of hoped that the book would be funnier, given the title and the premise. But even though it wasn't a comedy, I did enjoy it.
Claire wrote: "I already read a Witches' Handbook. I just finished My Life as a White Trash Zombie. I kind of hoped that the book would be funnier, given the title and the premise. The "White Trash Zombie" books aren't bad at all - it's a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor. I thought they'd be idiotic because of the name, but they were OK. Read the latest one a couple of days ago - it took about three hours to get through it.I have "Witches Handbook" but haven't got around to reading it yet - spending too much time on technical books. It's getting old....
@Zeenat No, I didn't find White Trash Zombie very funny at all, which definitely disappointed me. But it's still worth reading.
I just finished my 7th and 8th book this month,
Time Untime (Dark-Hunter, #22; Were-Hunter #9; Hellchaser, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon and
Trial by Fire (Raised by Wolves #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. My next book is
Leopard's Prey (Leopard People #6) by Christine Feehan
Read
yesterday. Reading
now. I didn't expect to like this series as much as I do.Have any of you read these books? I'd like to discuss the details with someone.
I haven't read any, but like you I wasn't sure I would like them. Let us know what you think of them when your done :)
I read them along time ago, at least up to like Bone Magic. My library has 1-7, and 10 ... not reading a series missing that many in a row. I meant to keep an eye on it to see. It is like up to 14?? I remember liking it for the most part, maybe I will read it again to see if my opinions have changed.I read her Chintz and China series ... no thanks on that. I didn't even read the last book, that was back when I didn't know what else to read and was just picking stuff at random....
Diane wrote: "I haven't read any, but like you I wasn't sure I would like them. There are future events mentioned in Changeling that I'm really looking forward to seeing...if Yasmine leaves them out I will be pissed!
Sometimes I hated how each book switched sister perspectives. Only because I wanted to know what happened next to the current one and I was annoyed by how slow the story was moving after book ten other wise I enjoyed reading these.
Claire wrote: "Did they keep moving on? I want to see more about Smokey from Camille's perspective!"Yes the books rotate Camille, Delilah, then Menolly and start again. Smokey is in almost all the books in some role or another.
Finished:One Salt Sea (October Daye, #5) by Seanan McGuire
On a side note … her eating habits are rather disgusting. I can kind of get the grape jelly and powdered sugar on pancakes … but seriously … coffee and lucky charms? (That was in the previous book, but still.)
On another note … my spell check asks to replace Seanan with semen … the keystroke is habit for me like hitting ctrl s all of the time.
Finished Dead Ever After. I gave it 3 1/2 stars. Now I've started Fifth Grave Past The Light. I've waited so long for this book. I'm trying to read slow to make it last longer.
I am glad to have finally gotten a hold of the last three books. I still want to smack her sometimes, but I like her anyway--I am halfway through Ashes of Honor atm. @diane:
That never works ... at least for me it doesn't. I slow down my reader to make a book I had been waiting for last longer and find myself hitting the up button for the speed till I am back to where I was before. lol
Kind of like this series ... I am going through them fast even if I started out with the good intention of slowing the speed down. :x
Finished:Ashes of Honor (October Daye, #6) by Seanan McGuire
Fae have food issues … a ham sandwich with steak sauce and strawberry jam? Which reminds me that in the last book there was a chicken sandwich with strawberry jam too.
<3 Tybalt btw
LOL I REALLY tried to stretch out ever after, but i still finished it in a few hours LOLTybalt is love.
I just finished my 9th book this month,
Leopard's Prey (Leopard People #6) by Christine Feehan. My next book is
Rogue Descendant (Nikki Glass #3) by Jenna Black
Finished
and
. Reading
.I like how Yasmine Galenorn writes her characters. It's easy to tell from their thoughts that they don't think like humans, but she writes it so convincingly that it doesn't seem unnatural. There is no "well unlike humans, I think..." It makes the world that much more convincing.
That's upsetting. I just bought the first Cal Leandros book, LKH's new book, and a Dresden Files anthology today. I'm very excited to read all of them.@Zeenat Have you ever heard of/read Side Jobs?
I read side jobs in pieces while reading the series to fit with the story chronologically. I thought it was great, you don't really have to know the world really to read a short. My first dresden story was a short in strange brew and I didn't feel like I was missing anything.I would read the LKH, simply because I have read the others already. :P
I think I'm going to start with Affliction and then meander through Side Jobs. Although, given how much I love the Dresden Files, I may very well read the whole thing in one day.
Zeenat wrote: "You haven't read side jobs yet?!?!? I really like the thomas short story. I love his voice... !"No I didn't realize it existed. But now I am very excited =]

Its been on my radar for a while...and I know one of my local bookstores has it in stock! )"
Will do, Jax. So far my impressions are that it's quite slow paced and wordy, but that's not automatically a bad thing. I feel like I'm being slowly sucked into the plot. I hope it builds a bit more though. It's not a 'can't put down' kind of book (at least, not after reading 20%) but I'll see how it goes.
