Not much romance I hope and lots of politics? *looks at Lannister with puppy dog eyes*

There's a slow build up with one of the characters, but I think a love triangle may be looming. And there hasn't been a huge amount of politics so far, but it's set the scene for more in subsequent books I think. There's been lots of witchy mumbo jumbo though. I'd say more but I have to go get my chakras realigned. (I don't actually know what your chakras are. Mine are probably broken beyond all repair LOL!)
After seeing the previews so many times and being assured by hubby that he will never go see the movie....I started
. I'm not really a zombie fan but this one is different enough to be entertaining.

I don't know what to think of it yet but I can understand the appeal even if I rarely read Fantasy.
Just finished Everdark (The Dark Ink Chronicles) I'm enjoying this series. This was the 2nd book. Now reading Malice In Wonderland (Dulcie O'Neil) book
5. By H.P.Mallory
Shattered Circle (Persephone Alcmedi, #6) by Linda RobertsonRight now I like this series, who knows later. Sucks I will have to wait longer for the next book like the other series I read ... atleast I did not have to wait. Sometimes if I am reading a so-so series if I let it sit then the next book comes out I could care less if I read it or not.
I looked back at my post from earlier, man that was a dumb thing to say. Imagine that a story without a conflict ... what I had meant was a temp conflict for the sake of something extra to the story that could have been left out.
imo there are more politics in later books after the build-up between Persephone and Johnny. There is a triangle sort of ... it is kind of there and not there. It doesn't seem like it is an important part of story development. Yeah there is the love/hate/angst, but I personally do not think it plays a big part.
They have to spend time on deciding who/what/how much to tell people of things. For instance what will happen to who if this and who if that, along with what they might have to sacrifice.
I don't make much sense since I just finished the book and am pre-occupied with stuff 'sides the story.
BTW, zombies are evil and grody (they scares me)--I hate zombies ... and raptors. Jurrasic Park and WoW totally ruined raptors for me.
Llaph, you make it sound really intriguing and make me want to read more. Politics in books is one of my favourite things, often more so than romance.
Lannister wrote: "Llaph, you make it sound really intriguing and make me want to read more. Politics in books is one of my favourite things, often more so than romance."Yep yep!
I used to care about romance, then I read enough romance to really not care.
I still like romance in my books. Probably why I don't have the issues with PNR that a lot of you are having these days. Probably also because PNR is still relatively new to me.Now for something different. Starting

Yeah....I just won a copy of Vampires, Warlocks, and Exes, Oh My. by Laura Lee. Her second in the Pixie Dustseries. If you haven't read Pixie Dust you should it's a light, funny, fast read when your down in the dumps.
I just finished
and I really loved it. I'm even starting to get less annoyed at Murphy, although I doubt she'll ever be my favorite.
I really, really like Susan.
yeah I love susan and harry in that book. I know I talk about it all the time, BUT DUDE, the chemistry!?!? lol
Extremely hot together.@Ashleigh I'll be real interested in what you think of Prodigy. I didn't like Legend as much as I had wanted to, so I never preordered Prodigy considering how freaking expensive it is.
@ mello, yea the only reason i currently have it is cause my friend was awesome enough to lend it to me.
i wouldnt of bought it. i rather enjoy the first book but i like other books more and would rather spend money on them. lol.
hopefully its good!!

Thats pretty fair. Even I have times when I still want to read PNR and then do it. Its just that at other times I see how much potential the story and the world had and how much it was left unexplored.
My copy of House Rules didn't arrive today, so it'll need to wait till next weekend now. Since we're talking about PNR, I'm going to indulge myself in some and am starting
.Let's see just how hot this V guy actually is! :P
Hummm lemme know. I am not ever gonna read BDB, but I would like a somewhat unbiased opinion/description of V.

. I am loving this book, but it's taking me forever to read it cause I'm just so busy and other books come in the way that have a rush on it.Genre hopping and reading
because my friend wants to watch the movieRereading
@ Lannister:That is so wrong to me ... I would have fits if I read a book out of order from a series. I want to say something else, but I can't even put it together right. Sympathy fits, see, see, see?
I have read all of the books, some more than once; I just skip/skim the ones I don't like. I just have issues about possibly missing something....
RE politics vs. relationship stuff in Persephone books:
I admit to reading them fast, but what maneuvering that they had to do to keep the witches, vampires, and werewolves in order stuck in mind. (There are fairies but that is only like one book!)
To my dense self that was more important than the triangle bit, though I think it might take a bitmore precedence in books after Shattered Circle, I liked it.
RE PNR:
I am on the side of it still being newish to me. I spent most of my reading years before reading fantasy, sci-fi, and histories. I avoided all romance novels … the covers made me not want to read them.
My first ever romance was a historical romance, To Dance with Kings by Rosalind Laker, her covers did not turn me off. I used to be really big into art and can admit that covers could influence my decisions. Some led to really good books, Tanith Lee’s reprint of Biting the Sun which had both Drinking Sapphire Wine and Biting the Sun in it, and crappy books I did not like, I can’t remember the name really, but the cover was gorgeous.
This is what I get for waiting so long to look @ updates in my groups….
Oh ... I am re-reading:
Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin
They go by pretty fast, I have 6, 7, and 8 left.

I still prefer UF to PNR, but I definitely have my PNR favorites and haven't burned out on them yet.
Finished
and really loved it. Reading
Llaph, I have actually read the earlier BDB books! I don't think I could start a series on book five either LOL! I'm not really a big PNR romance fan, but I can handle one once in a while. I read BDB books 1 and 2 maybe a year or two back, then I read 3 and 4 last summer. And now I'm reading 5 and 6. I don't want to overdo it on the mush! :D
I'll probably read BDB 5 then read the next Persephone book and the new Chicagoland Vamps, then - finally - I'll get to read about Phury and his luscious hair!
Talking of historical romance, who's read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series? Is it dire?
Arushi wrote: "Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin wrote: "I still like romance in my books. Probably why I don't have the issues with PNR that a lot of you are having these days. Probably also because PNR is s..."I agree. Sometimes the world and story and characters are so interesting but then we get to following books and the characters in PNR keep changing. I'll have a hard time remembering all these characters and they stop being special since they keep changing and the formula is the same for each book. I've really liked some first books of PNR then we change characters and they don't get fully explored and the focus is more on the romance than on some of the great ideas the author came up with for the world and the plots are weak.
I do like some PNR but get bored with them quickly. A problem is spacing them apart makes me forget the overall arc and who these new people are and what all the details were of the previous characters. But if I read them all in a row it's so tedious. Then you really see how repetitive the series is and the same formula happens for each couple.
@Sarah Exactly. Things in PNR rarely seem to go all that different from couple to couple with each changing book and the overall storyline can get quite lost in all of that romance.@Lannister I refuse to read Outlander.

I'm about just over halfway through. It's not a bad book so far actually, though I see the vampire civilians are still getting killed all over the place. It's a miracle there are any left at all!!
I may have been subconsciously influenced by you Sarah, but I did think that V's reaction to Jane was a bit, hmmm, tepid? Maybe I'm forgetting the previous BDB books, since it is a while since I read them, but when they decided to bond with their woman, they were 100% behind the decision. V seemed a bit, well, surprised by his 'Mine' comment about Jane. It didn't have the assurance behind it that the other brothers seemed to have when they met their mate. I guess you could argue he reacted this way because he believed his feelings were all about Butch and he didn't expect to fall for someone else, but somehow the whole thing isn't as convincing as the other stories.
However, I am only halfway through, so maybe it will change as the story goes on.
I am liking the Phury bits. Poor little lamb. ;)

I have one more book to go, these books read super fast to me.
lol @ Jax, good choice. :P
@ Lannister:
I remember hearing a reffrence to her name and the series before and looked it up. I was interested sort of so I looked up the series and read all the blurbs GR had by-passing the comments and reviews....
I liken Outlander to a bad train wreck....
There are two types, the good and the bad. The good is a wreck with no casualties and the bad has them.
With the good it does not feel so bad to check into what happens nextand the bad ... it just is something macabre you are drawn to. Both have you wanting to learn/read more ... I do not know how else to explain it to be honest.
I guess it is a guilty pleasure for me that I love timetravel books and books with highlanders in them, so I thought to give it a try. Seriously, I am a rather jaded person and most things don't bother me, but this book ... had somethings I totally do not agree with happen and it just felt wrong to me. After reading the other blurbs I went to read the comments ... some people are more vocal it appears.
I will agree that some of the history parts are okay, what they decide to do is dumb ... seriously dumb. Don't kill her husband's ancestor because it is wrong or whatever(even though he has done a lot of bad shit to you both), but sure you two work to get Bonnie Prince Charlie and all the shit he stirred stopped ... make sense?
I am pretty picky about historicalish books, it was one of my hobbies, and I detest bullshitting on a subject when I know it pretty well. I catch myself sometimes mentally doing a WTF when I read some historical books ... "WTF idiot ... they did not use forks for daily eating back then, look the history of the fork up on wiki you freakin moron."
I tried reading the 2nd book, but couldn't do it since I pretty much ruined it for myself by looking ahead so to speak. Plus, there were a lot more other books I had rather read and I certainly could live without reading more and still don't get some people and their opinions about things.
I just do not know what else to say that doesn't sound like I am babbling and not making sense, I am pretty sure I wasn't very cohesive with my thoughts.
Llaph, wow, people seem really divided about the Outlander series. I was mildly curious about it, because I read about it on some blog or other and the blogger loved it. But others seem to despise it.There are some books that are bad but you just have to keep going to find out what happens next, even though you're constantly rolling your eyes! I think Chicagoland Vamps may possibly be going that way LOL.
I agree it's annoying when authors don't get facts right and it's not just historical books either. I was bitching a while back about the KMM's Fever series set in an Americanised version of Dublin, which really rubbed me the wrong way. If authors don't have time to research the facts, they should set their books elsewhere.
I just finished my 1st book this month, titled
Endure (Need #4) by Carrie Jones . My next book is
Shadow Heir (Dark Swan #4) by Richelle Mead
Finished:The Deadliest Bite (Jaz Parks, #8)by Jennifer Rardin
I really like that series, though I so would have loved to know what happened with Cole and other characters later. No matter how the series ended I think it ended nicely to me and not knowing was a minor irritation since I had a good idea of what happened already.
@ Lannister:
I would say it is a pepsi vs. coke thing ... or chevy vs. ford, or mac vs. pc....I agree on the CLV opinion ... why can't authors stick to what they started with? It is like they wanna get their books out and end up famous then the dumbass stick comes out and whacks them a few times and they sort of sell out. Makes me want to be selfish and wish my favorite authors stayed unknown and all mine so they wont turn into douch bags.
I bitched about the same thing earlier though it was New Orleans. It is stupid if someone thinks they should right about something do some damn research ... it is too easy to do so these days and the stuff that normally gets bullshitted about is general stuff that is easy to spend an hour or so on and get it.
Think I will just say what I normally think when I am speechless and that people are stupid and weird.
Lannister wrote: "Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin wrote: "@Lannister I refuse to read Outlander."LMAO!! Oh dear, is it as bad as that? :D"
I don't think it's bad so much as I don't want to read it. I can tolerate historical romances in small doses and the ones that I've read always have some paranormal element to them. I don't think I could read a straight HR. Especially one as long as Outlander.

I finally got a hold of Ever After, but I am holding off on it till I get my work done....
RE Outlander:
The historical romance element did not really bother me, it was what went on it it that really made me WTF. I am sure you can read the outrage in the review/comments, they are intersped with the "omgilovethisitissoawesome" review/comments!
I feel so out of the loop. I was only gone 3 days!! anyhow, I finished The Lies of Locke Lamora and started Red Seas Under Red Skies. Next will be the first Dresden File, hopefully.
The Gentlemen Bastards have me hooked :)
