You're already rereading Storm Front? Didn't you just read it like a week ago?!

message 1352: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments 3 weeks ago! sheesh that's a long time :P LOL I decided to reread now that Claire, and possibly Mello are reading the rest series.

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments No possibly! I told you I was about to start reading them again.

I just finished Dark Light of Mine (Overworld Chronicles #2) by John Corwin and it was a pretty good sequel. A lot of insanity in that book.

Now it's time to reacquaint myself with Harry Dresden and start Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) by Jim Butcher

Mello did you like Dark Light of Mine (Overworld Chronicles #2) by John Corwin . I couldn't get through it. I think I had overdone YA at the time and it felt very young to me.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments I did not read this book but many like it...and it looks it's free on Amazon, don't know for how long: Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee (YA Fantasy).

I did like it. It's not the most mature YA and there's almost too much going on in the story, but I'm really curious to know how things will end up. I didn't realize the third book came out last month, so I will be reading that, too.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Llaph, I can understand you not liking incorrect references. The worst for me is when the author drops sentences in French just to make it look authentic and totally f*cking up the wording. I'm not from New Orleans so I can't confirm if they have saying as grammatically deficient or not like I encounter in books but it makes me wince every time.

I get the same way with medical references. When an author tries to go too much in to detail and uses terms incorrectly, it makes it hard for me to buy. The one I frequently see that irritates me, is when they refer to the jugular pulsing and getting a fresh spray of arterial blood. It's not a friggin artery and it doesn't pulse......that would be the carotid!!! It would take two seconds to look that up. OK, rant over!

message 1378: by Zeenat (new)

message 1379: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments See, a few seconds with google and a person would know, years of experience here with that....
"are there crocodiles in louisiana?"
"what is that thing cafe du monde is famous for selling besides coffee?"

There are the ones who "research" too hard and you get nifty info dumps about a subject you did not really need to hear. Then there are the authors that "wing it" and you are just embarrassed for them ... well I am when I don't get annoyed and have the urge to throw my reader.

message 1380: by Gin (new)

Gin | 323 comments Those authors info dumps give away the fact that they just researched it. Spitting out a bunch of facts and terms doesn't make something seem real. The author needs to research so that they know it in their own head, but only write what's necessary to carry the plot.

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments Ahhhh! I just finished Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) by Jim Butcher and I cannot believe everything that happened in it. It really amazes me that Harry isn't stark raving mad. He's already seen and done way too much, but after that, he should be at the bottom of the deep end of the pool.

Gin | 323 comments I've finished Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) by Seanan McGuire I enjoyed it, but there were some details that didn't quite make sense to me. Plus I guessed the bad guy in the very beginning. Even so it was a great first of which I can tell already will most likely be a 5 star series.

Now I think I'll start The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith and I'll probably get through The Gauntlet by Karen Chance today too.

I'm not sure about the "better soon" part but I know that there is a movie going to be based on the book.

I actually thought it was cute love story but nothing special and yes halfway through I thought that the author had changed or she lost the concept of the story :/

Yes, I'm reading because you recommended! I like the characters and story and will see where it goes. What I didn't like was some plot holes. Reasons for some things didn't really make sense, but I'm trying to ignore that. The whole Ben thing is sad.

I heard good things about that book, but I did not get past the first few chapters. I can't fathom why other than it seemed so cliche to me. I did skip around and read some parts and thought they were interesting, just didn't want to read through the book. I think I ruined it for me with the skipping. :x

@ Sarah W:
Ben is one of the reasons I did not get past the 1 st half of book 2. Just too sad ... I am such a girly girl sometimes.

yea i liked how trav was strong and confident, now he just seems like a little boy who constantly throws wobberly's. Abs was cool cause she seemed fairly innocent but still had a past. i cant even explain how she's changed im just not impressed with it. lol.

it kinda feels like the story should of ended by now but the author randomly decided to keep going.

yea the reason why i picked this book up was cause of all the good stuff i was hearing about it!! but so far its really lacking. i'll keep reading and if it doesnt get any better soon i'll prob put it down and just wait for the movie.
