We don't celebrate Christmas. I only wish people a happy Yule. LOL

But Merry Curran works for me as well. :-)

This year I announced to family members that I would be serving barbeque for Christmas dinner. They all decided to go eat turkey at my sister's house instead.
Heh heh.
Now I can read in peace...and eat barbeque, too.

just wanted to say Merry Christmas guys! hope you have a fantastic day!!!

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Enjee, smart move! I kinda wish I could blow off my family and stay home in peace and quiet on Christmas Day.

Ashleigh, did you just give that guy a roll in the hay LMAO!!

message 1157: by Mon (new)

Mon (monmor) | 199 comments Feliz Natal to all of you guys! (yes, thats how we say it in Brazil :D)

Is sooo hot here, and everybody is outside drinking cold wine. So nice.

message 1158: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Wilson | 404 comments I'm at my brother and sister-in-law's house. It's actually nice and I cook with my sister-in-law. Way easier than when I was younger and it was just me cooking for dad and brothers and my family. No mom around. I just wish I had one. Now the in-laws are a nightmare. I won't even get into that. Probably have to head over there tomorrow.

message 1160: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments At least you knew it was coming, I forgot. I am date dyslexic, honest I even forget my own birthday when it is coming up most of the time.
I moved in with my family again a few months ago (long stupid story) My mom has mellowed in her old age (lol she turned 54 this year) so she does not give me as much crap as she used to. (plus I have xanax I can take now!)
We live in Texas BBQ is not a threat ... we are having brisket along with ham tomorrow.

My sister and I split the cost to buy my mom a purse for christmas, she came in my room this evening and said, "here you need to wrap this."
1. I am blind
2. she failed at giving me something to wrap it with
Know what I did? I keep boxes and had gotten a new one earlier in the week that was the right size. I took out that mass of tissue paper in the purse, put it into the box, sealed it with duct tape (I always have a roll, it is imperative in most cases), wrapped up the tissue paper around the box as best as I could, and made a bow sort of with the duct tape. There take that Angie ... She complained about wrapping gifts, I told her to buy bags an quit bitching about it. She then yammered on about buying those ... I told her just use grocery bags who cares? (I am so not a girly girl) she informed me that was what she wrapped my presents in. She was going to put bows on the boxes, but changed her mind.
My family is very weird.

Arushi | 3652 comments Merry Christmas all of you :)

Merry Curran Sarah! That so works for me!

message 1162: by Jax (new)

Jax | 831 comments @ Margo... Sorry about your iffy christmas - I feel your pain...
However, your pain relieves mine a little, knowing that I'm not the only one with a mother and sister that apparently never hear a word that comes out of your mouth. I get a,b and c and then a d as well!
I did however solve my issue slightly by moving away...
Now I mostly have to put up with the phone calls...

So, on that note...
Happy Yule or Lithia (depending on your hemisphere)
Merry Christmas
and...

Merry Curran to everyone! :D

message 1163: by Margo (new)

Margo | 663 comments Well currently I'm sitting at my mother's home with my sister, her husband and kids. They just opened a box full of cloths which were sent from Canada for the girls so we have a fashion show :). Of course my sister complains "were do I put all that stuff" and my mother makes tons of pictures so I have 5 minutes break :D

Yep... I know that feeling. It is one of those series. But it is definitely gritty and worth a read.

message 1173: by Gin (new)

Gin | 323 comments At Arushi and Mello I'm definitely enjoying it. Somehow the darker aspects of it out way the cheesy parts. I bet the series is going to be really good though.

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments Oh it will, Gin. It is on the darker side and it will get more so as it goes on.

Finished On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young . The hotness that is that book... Wow!

Starting City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare

message 1175: by Arushi (last edited Dec 27, 2012 09:07AM) (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments @Mello - really? Hummm I have heard some really mixed reviews for On Dublin Street. But if you say its good, I'll consider giving it a try.

Also, you might enjoy this: http://smexybooks.com/2012/12/an-on-d...

Its an excerpt of the main characters Christmas after the book.

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments I'll be reading that when I get home.

As for the book, I really loved it. Joss has issues. Those issues could probably get on peoples' nerves. I was surprised that they didn't bother me. I think it's only 'cause I know I get funny in relationships, too. I think it's worth giving it a try.

message 1177: by Diane (new)

Diane (FriskyVamp) | 372 comments Finished Love is Darkness#1 by Caroline Hanson. It was pretty good....good enough that I want to read the next one. I'm going to look in my library and see what I want to read next.

message 1178: by Diane (new)

Diane (FriskyVamp) | 372 comments Found one...Love and Blood (Blood Ties) by Jessica Gibson. Has anyone read this? I know it hasn't been out very long.

message 1179: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Last Kiss Goodnight (Otherworld Assassin, #1) by Gena Showalter
All I can say is WTF, this book was just wrong, I rarely if ever give a 1 rating to a book and I can't recall giving a book by Showalter less than a 3 ... I was tempted at a few points to not finish this book.
It was like whacking the alien huntress world she made with a big stick, not my favorite series, but I still liked it and this book was a total WTF to me.

P.S. Shill reviews are still stupid and reading the GR page reviews did let me know I am not crazy in what I thought.

I'll say it: If the cover was not so pretty, I probably would have passed on it.

I did not like it ... and that says a lot for me with a Showalter book.

message 1188: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I think I may start Grave Memory (Alex Craft, #3) by Kalayna Price because I have it in paperback. My migraines have been acting up lately, which makes spending hours reading an e-book a Bad Idea. *sigh* the Dresden Files will have to wait until I can get to a bookstore.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments @ Arushi, i had a hard time reading Alice in zombieland...maybe i'll pass on this one then.

The Descent series - FREE

message 1191: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments @Val - I have to admit, its not good. I haven't read Alice in Zombieland and now I probably won't. This book is like a template. Everything happens, but nothing is deep enough. It started off on a good note, but it all went downhill from there.

(view spoiler)

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments @Arushi From what I've hear, Gena has really toned down her sex scenes in her writing lately. A shame.

@Gin Hope you enjoy it!

Finished City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare and City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare . Really good end for that arc.

Reading City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare

I am not sure if its toned down or just that she doesn't care about the sex part anymore so it ends up being bland. I am good if there is no sex, but if it going to be there, might as well make it hot, or even sweet will do. But not just bleh.

Many wonder if it has to do with her being ill and finding comfort in religion. She even writes about that on her website.

message 1196: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments That does explain a lot actually. It might not even be the religion, just the illness itself is an explanation.

series.

message 1199: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Happy New Year Everyone :)

I am just starting the short Room With a View Hot Down Under by Kylie Scott which is set in the same universe as Flesh.

Also, Room with a View is available for free on Amazon as part of the year end sale: http://www.amazon.com/Room-With-View-...

I can't find the thread where we placed info on free books for some reason. Sigh. Will look for it again later.

Margo | 663 comments Happy New Year!!!

I want to start today A Taste of Fire #1 by R. Tezak 'cause it sounds really similar to one of the stories in my head which I'm telling myself every evening to finally fall asleep so I decided to give it a try.

I don't know if I manage to actually start it today 'cause I have house to clean for the New Years Party and food to make but if not today than tomorrow for sure. :)

Once again Happy New Year Everyone xxx
