Ok so I've been a little depressed and didn't want to start reading anything new so I went back and reread some books and manga. Now I came back to my favorite Connie Suttle and have read the second book from High Demon series
and currently I am on a third book of Legend of the Ir'Indicti series
:)
I'm reading Dead on the Delta, I just can't get into it. I'll try reading some more, but I may have to put it down and try something else.

This seems more like a second book than a first. To much background information that you have no idea what they are really talking about.

Exactly what I thought, I kept feeling I missed a book. I never finished it … I wasn’t too keen on the FMC either. I put up with chess because I fell in love with the world she made … not because she was an addict. If I made sense …

"Ooh. what did you think of it?"
I'm reading it too. I'm liking it so far though I agree with Anna's review that it would probably help if you knew some basic info about Shakespeare's life, and the major players in it, before you started. I'm about ~40% through and my cutie's just shown up, being all cool and sassy and mouthy!! :D
Well, if you've made it so far Lannister you'll enjoy the rest. I really struggled up to that point, the style was so dry and I couldn't engage with the players, including Shakespeare really although I did like Augustine. From Kit's first mention it just got better and I was really intrigued how she would do the Will/Kit links. (view spoiler)@Arushi, I think I'd recommend it as long as you can get though the first 40% of the novel! The more you know about Shakespeare/Marlowe and Elizabethan theatre the easier it is. I kept looking up info on the key players on Wikipedia. She has a cast list at the back of the ebook, but I didn't find it till I finished the novel.
Sorry that's really dry. Trying hard to keep a lid on it. XP
@Anna - no not dry. Thanks :) It means that I will read the first 40% in one go.. and maybe do some research beforehand. @Lannister - 'cool, and sassy and mouthy' huh? well.. guess something never quite change :P
I'm quickly working my way through the October Daye books. I have a feeling that I'm wayyyyy ahead of the group read but I can't help myself!
My DH re-read distracted me from the group read.. but I should start.. thanks for the reminder Claire :)

My hero!
Actually I had completely forgotten it was coming out.. along with a LOT of books I suppose.. anyhow.. I'll get it soon now :) Thanks!!!
EDIT: @Mello - Saw your comment later. Thanks :)
I just finished my 10th book this month, titled English Short Stories 1800-1900(Penguin Audiobooks)by Wilkie Collins, Joseph Conrad, Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell, Thomas Hardy and Rudyard Kipling. My next book is
The Heat (The Big Bad Wolf #1)by Heather Killough-Walden

Same here.
Same here.
At the risk of sounding like an echo, I've never read the Dresden Files either and really want to! So, Gin, I think that makes you the FIRST person to read the books, rather than the last (in this group at least LOL!)
I only read the first book and some short stories because they were in anthologies ... I can't remember why I did not keep reading them since it was a while back. I liked them though.
Thé audiobooks of the Dresden Files....James Marsters's voice. I. Iistened to all the books because of that.....and once you get past book 2 the story really takes off. One of my fav series.
Guess I'm not the only one then. I'm finally getting to it because of a recommends challenge. I'm enjoying it so far. You're right Valerie, the narrator is perfect! I don't listen to many books, but I try to pick series that people seem to think might be better in audio than actually reading.
Mello, I usually listen to about 1 or 2 books a month. I could never listen to books exclusively, but they help motivate me to accomplish mundane tasks that I have no desire to complete.
Oh, I could never listen to them as much as some people do, but one of these days, I may try one out.
I've never really tried audiobooks and think I'll only do that if Vin Diesel reads them. LOL
Maybe we could do a Dresden Files group read.
Btw, has the author ever explained why he used the name Dresden for his hero? It's a city in Germany and I always wonder if he had a reason for that.

I Burn for You (Primes, #1) by Susan Sizemoreand
I Thirst for You (Primes, #2) by Susan Sizemore
Having to go through my books got me to re-read an old series I had, the "book" is actually a 3 book bundle with the first three stories in the series ... Who knows if I will finish it.
As for a read together, what does that entail?
I have the TTS copies of some of the Dresden books but never finished them. I checked a bit ago and NLS (talking book club part of library of congress) has a good deal of them. They aren't marked with "commercial audio book" so they used their own voice actor for the books.
I will say that listening to real people read the book to me makes a markedly difference to how I saw a series. (TTS vs. DTP {text-to-speech vs. Digital talking book}).
You get the right pronunciations (most of the time), who says what, and if the voice actor is any good the emotion not in an overly dramatic way. Plus you can do laundry, eat, and clean while listening to a book ... I can see how it would be annoying though, with CD players/tape deck you can't really change the speed and that would be massively bad if you speed read.
People say that my reader sounds like Alvin the chipmunk is reading to me or maybe it would be Brittney since I use a female voice.
I'd be up for a Dresden Files group read! I've no idea why it's called that, but I don't know all that much about the author. Maybe he likes the porcelain LOL!I've never got much into audio books either except for long drives where they're excellent. I can see the appeal that when you're wandering about or doing housework or whatever, but I tend to listen to podcasts when I'm doing that. I think if I started listening to audio books, I'd need to give up my podcasts, and I don't want to do that.
BTW, does anyone know if there's such a thing as an UF podcast? I've never actually searched for one, but just wondered if anyone knew in passing.
