Hi guys, I'm Sammy :) I joined a couple of weeks ago (I think?) but have been really busy so just getting round to introducing myself now.1. Where in the world are you?
I am living in the United Kingdom, in Manchester specifically (and I was born here).
2. What's your favourite book/series?
This one is a hard one, as I love so many books, but I guess it's between Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson series, Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series and Karen Marie Moning's Fever series.
3. Tell us why you chose the avatar you have?
I had a picture of myself before but for some reason had the urge to remove it lol
4. Name a famous person that makes you swoon?
Ian Somerhalder. His eyes. *drool*
5. What's your favourite dessert?
Hmmmm... I can't pick a favourite, but if I was in a restaurant, I would pick anything with chocolate!
6. Anything else you want to share about yourself?
I'm a full-time student doing a degree in Psychology at the University of Manchester. I will (hopefully) be graduating this year. I'm also a volunteer at Samaritans on the side (a suicide helpline for those who don't know what it is). :)
Hi Sammy! Welcome to the group. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. Anyone who likes chocolate is all right by me! :)I haven't got round to reading the Charley Davidson series yet, though I know a lot of people like it. One of these days ...
Oh, you've reminded me that I forgot to ask the bonus questions! Have you read the Dory books yet, Sammy? Would you say you were Team Cassie or Team Dory? I've been Team Dory for at least six months, but I might change my mind again later in the year. :)
PS Well done on the Samaritans work. That's something to be proud of.
Thank you! And to be honest I've not read the Dory books. I have been meaning to for a long time, but I was so tired of vampire characters in general - just feels like it's been done too much. Recently I read the Vampires in America series (D. B. Reynolds) and they were surprisingly good so I might just read the Dory books soon. I love Cassie's character though, I love that Karen has given her a strong-willed/stubborn personality without making her annoying, so at the moment I am most definitely team Cassie :D
I know what you mean about too many vamps. It's getting harder for authors to come up with something that's new and interesting and doesn't feel like a rehash of what's been done already. But having said that, I do love the Dory books. There are a lot of vamps and some Fey characters in the books, and a few crossover characters from the Cassie series (primarily Mircea and Louis-Cesare). We started doing a Dory reread last summer in anticipation of the third Dory book that came out in October, and now Dory is my favourite. I think opinion in the group is probably fairly evenly split between Cassie and Dory, but, in a nutshell, if you liked the Cassie books, you'll probably like the Dory ones too.Anyway, I'll stop giving you the hard sell! :D The most important thing is that you enjoy what you read.
However, since you've only read the Cassie books, I'll go to my fallback bonus question: Do you prefer Mircea or Pritkin? Or both? Or neither? Hmmm, I wonder if anyone doesn't want either Pritkin or Mircea for Cassie. That would be interesting.
Hi Sammy, well done for the Samaritans work and welcome! Good luck in your final year. Ian Somerhalder and chocolate - excellent combination.I notice Lannister is keeping quiet about Marlowe on the previous question...
If you have time, go for the Dory books - I was team Cassie all the way till Fury's Kiss (#3)- now I'm even. (and I suspect we will start to get some overlap between the two books in time).
Anna wrote: "I notice Lannister is keeping quiet about Marlowe on the previous question..."Hehe, I don't want to freak out newcomers to the group with my obsessions! And, ahem, don't you have a small Marlowe obsession yourself?? Hmmm? :D
Hi, Sammy. I prefer Cassie but the Dory books are good too and I think you'll get more info reading both. They are probably going to affect each other more now.
Agreed, Sarah. I don't think the convergence will happen in Tempt the Stars, but possibly in the next Dory book.
I realized I didn't see these questions before. 1) I'm in San Antonio, TX, USA
2) favorite series: Cassandra Palmer, Kate Daniels, the Hollows, Jane Yellowrock, Night Huntress, Mercy Thompson, probably more but I'll stop now
3) It was funny.
4)Chris Hemsworth
5)I don't have a favorite dessert. I like a lot of the homemade desserts I make: many chocolate baked things, cookie balls, lemon meringue pie, apple pie, peanut butter pie. Also hot fudge/caramel sundaes.
6) I like reading and I have 3 kids. Not much free time.
1. Where in the world are you?I live in South Yorkshire in the UK
2. What's your favourite book/series?
Obv both the Cassie and Dory Series as well as anything Anne Rice. I love Classic Literature so anything Brontë, Dickens, Austen, Byron, Shakespeare and Hardy. I read almost anything.
3. Tell us why you chose the avatar you have?
I haven't got one at the moment. It's on the to do list.
4. Name a famous person that makes you swoon?
Eddie Redmayne or David Anders :)
5. What's your favourite dessert?
Cherry Pie and Custard or Pecan Cheesecake
6. Anything else you want to share about yourself?
I've been reading the comments here for months and I've finally got round to joining so I can join in. Woooo :)
Hi Ashlea, welcome to the group! I hope you haven't been snowed in recently. Glad you finally decided to take the plunge and join in! :)
Thank you Sarah! Cheers Lannister and no I haven't although it came close, my school even closed for the first time in 4 years. And I'm glad I did too. Thank you as well Anna and it has to be our favourite mage- Pritkin. I'd be stick thin and I'm sure I could think of an alternative way of "exercising" ;) :L
Hello! 1. Where in the world are you?
Outside Stockholm, Sweden
2. What's your favourite book/series?
Hard one! I can narrow it down to two, and it is the Dorinda-series or the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. But which one of them I cannot tell.
3. Tell us why you chose the avatar you have?
Morgan has me charmed with the eyes and dimples.
4. Name a famous person that makes you swoon?
Easy - Pritkin! Oh, you meant a REAL person? ;) Deborah Ann Woll. :)
5. What's your favourite dessert?
Must be the Semla. Doctors* recomendation: at least one a day! ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semla
*It counts even if the doctor ordering it was telling you in a dream, right?
6. Anything else you want to share about yourself?
Hmm. Sort of a nerd about the reading, something I'm a bit proud of. I love to float away in my (and other peoples) imaginary worlds. But between my new hobby workout at the gym, spending time with the kid, see friends and family I don't have that much time any more. Fortunately I have a job where I just need to be present, so that is my haven where I have the opportunity to read.
I also love to have a strong heroine in a book!
Hi Carolin, welcome along. I approve of dream doctors ordering you to eat semla!Look forward to chatting with you. :)
I have to confess I'd never heard of Semla before, but that pic on the Wikipedia page looks absolutely delish!
Anna, a weekend in Sweden can't be that expensive! ;)http://www.grouprecipes.com/60865/sem...
I must confess that I don't do my semlor myself, but that recipe seems pretty much like the ones I eat. If you can find the buns somewhere it is easy to do by yourself.
1. Where in the world are you?I live in northern florida.
2. What's your favourite book/series?
Cassandra Palmer, of course! Though I do like Dorina Basarab, too. But I'm a big Mircea fan. Louis-Cesare just doesn't do it for me. Of course, I like Marlowe, too. He just cracks me up sometimes.
3. Tell us why you chose the avatar you have?
Don't have one.
4. Name a famous person that makes you swoon?
Tom Hiddleston! Loki! Yum!
5. What's your favourite dessert?
Chocolate chip cookies (not the crunchy kind) or cherry cobbler.
6. Anything else you want to share about yourself?
I'm a senior in college. Last semester, baby!
Hi Julie, welcome to the group! Despite what Anna says, Marlowe fans are particularly welcome here!! :D (You may get shouted at if you talk about him too much though. I certainly do LOL!) Do join in and share your favourite books/scenes with us. :)
Lannister wrote: "(You may get shouted at if you talk about him too much though. I certainly do LOL!"It's the graphic imagery not the frequency Lannister! :D>
Thank you very much! Although now I'm starting to wonder if I want to be Marlowe's fan girl, I'm going to have to get in line.
1. Where in the world are you?Utah
2. What's your favourite book/series?
Hollows, Outlander, Mercy Thompson, Alpah and Omega, All Souls Trilogy, Fever. So many books, so little time....and of course Cassandra and Dorina
3. Tell us why you chose the avatar you have?
Nothing original. Just me.
4. Name a famous person that makes you swoon?
David. Gandy.
5. What's your favourite dessert?
Chocolate cake donuts. But I'm more of a cruncy/salty kind of girl.
6. Anything else you want to share about yourself?
I'm a mother of five. My life revolves around being Mom. I love to read, and I probably get more emotionally involved in the characters lives than is healthy, but here I am.
Julie, don't worry, Marlowe is man enough for us all! :DHi Heather, welcome to the group. Am impressed at five children too. I can't even manage a cat. Hope you manage to find lots of quiet time for reading. You deserve it!
Julie, enjoy your last semester in college!Heather I totally want 5 kids, but I haven't started yet so I doubt I have time enough to make it happen!
Welcome everyone!
Anna wrote: "Wow Heather, 5! I gave up at 3! Do you prefer Cassie or Dory?"Cassie is fun to read, but I really like Dory. I read Cassie first then started Dorina. I wish I would of read both the series in order, in tandem I guess I'm trying to say. I think you'd get more, and more would make sense that way.

If I want to read I usually have to choose between reading and sleep. Reading wins a lot. And I have three cats and two dogs. Sometimes I feel like the Little Old Lady that lived in a shoe, with a petting zoo.

What about Pritkin giving you chocolate as revard after running laps?
P.S. Welcome to the group Sabrina!
