Mitzi (vintagegoodness) | 10 comments I've been all wrapped up in it the last few days, telling everyone I know about my new history crush on Simon Kenton, describing brutal torture scenes in great detail to my poor (not really that interested) boyfriend... and I'm only half way through the book!

I'm trying to read as many books as I can set in 18th century Kentucky, and so far this one is shooting to the top of my favorites list. I've not read any of Eckert's other books, but I see them stacked on my nightstand in the future, that's for sure! :)

Linda Graham (lindalgraham) | 11 comments The book description sounds intriguing! There's more than torture scenes, though, right? (I close my eyes during gruesome movie/TV scenes and skip over those parts in books).

Mitzi (vintagegoodness) | 10 comments Hey Linda, yes a lot more than torture scenes, you can skip them when you see them so don't let that stop you from checking it out... :)

OMG! I just recommended for anyone who loves American history to read anything by Alan Eckert. His books helped me in writing my Wilderness trilogy - INTO THE WILDERNESS (Fr/Indian wars) - INTO THE VALLEY (Revolutionary war) - and INTO THE PRAIRIE (Tecumseh). His books are REAL HISTORY told like novels and should be required reading for Jr. High and High School History classes. Better than any school text book can tell it. Rosanne Bittner

Mitzi (vintagegoodness) | 10 comments Hi Rosanne, WOW you have an impressive list of books! I just added the Wilderness books to my to-read list. :) I will definitely be reading more of Eckert's books too!

I have the feeling I have one of your books on the pile, but you have so many and the big green buttons are clogging up my browser and I can't look at see which one it is.
