Monica I was kinda disappointed in this book. I dont know i just was hoping for a better seven. Piper,Frank, jason r just boring characters. Dont get me wrong this is still one of the strongest series of any type i have ever read. I just wished piper was arrogant or something more like her mother. Piper just annoyed me in this book. I wished nico had a stronger role but i think he will in the next. I love hazel and leo their history is great and well developed characters imo. And i love their abilities. But the best part of this series is the mythology and the charcacters involved in it. I think Annabeth really came into her own in this book. I enjoyed her and leo's narrations

Aurora I think the characterization for Piper was consistent with the first book. I also think that Piper isn't arrogant just because she tries not to bring attention to herself. Arrogance is definitely an attention-getter.

I loved this book. I think it's way different than all of the other books, but it was amazing.

Mostly, this book was around Annabeth, and, duh, the mark of athena. the rest were mainly side characters

Aurora Annabeth was the central character of this book. The other characters didn't have a to accomplish the main plot point. But Annabeth had to find the Athena Parthenos.

I agree...50% with you lol

I think the base plot was cool and interesting, and i did enjoy annabeth's and leo's POV.

Piper was more tolerable in MOA as oppopse to TLH, IMO; but sadly still annoying.

Hazel and Leo did develop and that was cool.

but i sort of felt that frank and jason weren't portrayed at their best. i mean i get that frank was a clumsy person and that he'd be a bit insecure abt leo, but the frank who existed at the end of SoN didn't really feel the same as the frank who was presented in MOA.At the end SoN he was suppose to be a bit stronger, but he appeared less developed and more like the weak link; and apprantly most useful when something/someone need transporting.

whereas jason, even though in TLH ( well I personally) didn't get a good feel of his personality,...well he just seemed so...idk annoying and love sick...and considering he'd been at CJ for 13/14 years, and CHB only 8 months, its just...strange.

Aurora I think it was interesting seeing Jason and Frank from different perspectives, but I kind of felt like they were unimportant to the storyline in this book. I wish we'd seen stuff from their perspectives.

Tony Andersen I thought it was pretty decent but the cliffhanger at the end my jaw dropped! Tartarus i mean Kronos Medusa the minotaur the titans! Ouranos everyones there!

sigh...yeah but so many POVs would hv been a mess.

but hmm idk how to explain this so bear wid me
what I really was trying to say was that the POVs felt slightly biased to me ( okay not the best word but I cann't find the appropriate one in my brain at this current moment)

annabeth's was fine because she had her own thing to do. but in the other POVs it just felt as though because this is leo's POV, or Piper's or even percy, they had to be portrayed as the stronger/smarter one. yeah, I get its their pov, but for eg', with leo, he always has the plan while whoever he's with is at their wits end.
sigh...i'm probably the only one who feels like dat though lol

oh well

we'll hv to wait till the next bk.....

which

is

so

far

away....

!!!

I agree totally with u about jason and frank and that may be the reasons i wasnt feeling either in this book. I just wish that piper was replaced with reyna, thalia or my girl clarisse(who i think is a great character) in the prophecy 7

Tony Andersen I really can't imagine how the next books gonna go how is percy gonna fight a titan and face all his old enemies! he could barely do it even with the curse of achilles

Raven Pummill Percys' skill is just gettin better i think he can do it!

Aurora Tony wrote: "I really can't imagine how the next books gonna go how is percy gonna fight a titan and face all his old enemies! he could barely do it even with the curse of achilles"

Heck. Yeah, now he's going to have to fight all those enemies, and they certainly haven't forgotten him. It will be amazing if they survive. But, as Nico said, Percy is the strongest demigod he's met. And he has Annabeth on his side, and she's the only demigod to have found the Athena Parthenos. Together, they've fought Kronos and won. Surely they, of all the demigods, could survive. Hopefully they'll still be sane.

Hannah I thought the book was amazing, one thing that bothered me was how short Annabeth's quest was. I mean, I was expecting a super long quest that she wouldn't return from till the next book. It needed to be longer.
Frank didn't stand out for me in this book, I liked him more in the last one. Hazel and Leo I like a lot though.
I liked how Jason and Percy were pretty good friends, I was worried about their friendship because of the cover so I was relieved that they were only fighting because they were possessed.
I felt like they met too many gods. It all played a part somehow, but it felt like they should have met more monsters or something.
The scene with Annabeth and Percy in the stables was so cute! I was just smiling when Percy was telling her about how he imagined their future in New Rome.
I can't wait for the next book... An entire year to wait! It's going to be torture, but luckily another book (The Books of Beginning 2: The Fire Chronicle) is coming out tomorrow, so I'll be distracted for a bit.

Aurora I felt like all the Romans were kind of lost in this book, like they weren't paid as much attention, but I think that may just be because they weren't narrators.

And OMG you are going to love the Fire Chronicle! I just finished it like an hour ago.

You already have it? What, how? It's release date is tomorrow... At least, that is what I thought, now I'm confused.

Aurora Yeah, I thought the Fire Chronicle wasn't released until tomorrow, but when I went to the bookstore on Tuesday to pick up Mark of Athena, I saw it on an end-cap. So I'm not sure what that's about, but I wasn't going to question it. I just read it- as soon as I finished Mark of Athena, of course.

Allison this was so amazing! When i first got it i was so happy i read it until my mom took it and hid it from me until i did my homework (oops.) I wish piper hadn't narrated and instead Frank did. (Frank is awesome) I LOVED Annabeth's narration. Percy was awesome as usual... and Percabeth is back THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I was scared they'd break up, just to mess with my head and kill it (and the rest of me too, of source.)

Leah Everyone is so judgmental. I do not dislike a single character in this series, except for maybe Gaea, but who likes her? I thought the book was brilliant.
