What's On Your Pull List?
My current pull list is:Witch Doctor
Saga
The Walking Dead
Sweet Tooth
Before Watchmen (all of them... I know, I know... but it's just like a train wreck that I can't turn away from).
Fatale
How are you finding Revival? I was a little iffy and read the free preview, but haven't gotten into it.
Mine was (until I recently had to stop spending on comics) just:Buffy
Angel & Faith
Fables
So now I'm empty handed. Generally avoiding the comic books stores for fear of buying every book adaption they do. *sweats*
Kay - are you and I the only two people currently with a pull list? The horror.
I know there must be more around here that have their local comic book store pull comics for them.
As I am new to the wonderful world of comics I don't have a pull list yet. I am heading down to my local store as soon as my girlfriend gives in and let's me have one.
I'm thinking my first additions will be Saga and The Walking Dead. I'm quite interested to see what the Willow mini-series that starts next month will look like too so will probably add that too (even though I'm not sure it counts because it won't go on for every month).
Other than that I think I will be adding more with each comic I get in to, I've just got my hands on Witch Doctor, enjoying it so far but not sure if I'm enjoying it enough though.

I'm reading these monthly:Saga
Mind the Gap
Gambit
I, Vampire
Before Watchmen - Dr Manhattan, Rorschach, and Silk Spectre only
Revival (It's okay so far)
Fairest (but I'm a few issues behind and not digging it too much so far, LOVE the covers though)
Astonishing X-men (just started this one)
No Place Like Home (little behind on this and not sure if I'm going to stick with it)
I also picked up a couple of one-shots recently. Looker was decent. I'd like to see more of the relationship with her and the blind ex-cop. Bought Rose and Thorn but haven't read it yet.
Got the first issues of Fasion Beast and Happy. Still deciding on those.
My comic pull list includes:Buffy
Angel & Faith
Spike
Gambit
Fables
Walking Dead
Courtney Crumin
Justice League Dark
ElfQuest (although there has been nothing new in ages)
Glad to see other Gambit fans. Love him!For those reading Fatale, do you suggest trades or monthlies? How is the story? I just bought the first trade. I'm seduced by those gorgeous covers though.

I'm enjoying it. I picked it up just on the strength that it's called a "farm noir," which sounds like kicks. It's very rural with elements of zombies, crime, and religion. Let me say that the "revivers" as they call them are nothing like your average zombies. There are a few racial cliches that bothered me, but once I got past that, I thought the concept is pretty unique. Butt-kicking females seem to be a theme also. I would suggest picking up the first issue to see if you like it.

As much as I love The Walking Dead, I would tell a new reader to get the trades instead of buying singles (unless you get caught up and don't want to wait). There are quite a few fillers, and the covers and art are nothing spectacular. Its selling point is shock factor and some really enthralling storytelling at its peak. By now, at issue 103, the storyline has gotten dry for me. There are a few landmark issues (issue #50 has color!) and variants that you may like to pick up though.
I really want to get into Fables, but it's at 120 issues right now! I don't like jumping midway into a series so I might just go ahead and grab the first trade one of these days.
I don't have enough epic fantasy on my list, what do you guys suggest? I'm in the mood for some medieval drama.

I've been buying the trades since I first read scans of the first 6 last year. It's such a great series. The first trade is a really bad representation of the series, as it feels like a hard-boiled detective story, where's it's really a fantasy adventure with chilling stories interwoven. It's kinda dark.ETA: FABLES! I'm talking about Fables...
Yes, you have to give Fables a little time. The first book is decent but it gets much better the further you get into the series. They explore so many different fairy tales/fables characters. It's a lot of fun.I stalled reading it recently, need to read the Super Team trade.
I absolutely love the cover artist too, James Jean. He has his own book of just Fables covers.
Grrr, I'm so impatient when trying to feel out a new comic. I'll get the first two trades of Fables instead of one.

Did you know a film adaptation of Happy is in the works? RZA is going to direct it.

Already? Happy just came out! Maybe it's good then, lol. I still need to finish reading it. I didn't know RZA directed. First time?

I guess anything with a Morrison stamp on it would get picked up pretty quickly lol. Morrison will also be writing the script. It hasn't been backed by any studio or financer yet so it might be years before we see it, if that. Yeah, you can say RZA's been toying around with directing for a while. His first official film is actually releasing next month called The Man with the Iron Fists. It looks borderline tacky, but I'm a super Wu- fan so I'll support anything he pulls out of his ass lol. I'm happy for him.

I think I'll probably take your advice on this one, I borrowed them all from a college friend and was enjoying it more a few trades ago. I'm not totally caught up yet, just finished the Life Among Them arc. I'll definitely continue reading them but probably not buying the singles. The friend I got them from also only has up to issue 90 which sucks because the way my insomnia is going I'll have these all wrapped up by the end of tonight.

I wish I had more cash, so I could have a larger pull list, but so far, these are the only ones I make sure to get as soon as they're out:Batgirl
Wonder Woman
No Place Like Home (though my store hasn't caught up to what's been released)
Amethyst
Hoax Hunters
Whenever I get the cash, I'm also trying to catch up on:
Birds of Prey
Batwoman
Saga
Fables
Supergirl
Justice League Dark
iZombie
Locke and Key

Kay, that trailer has a LOT going on in it. LOLIt actually looks fun though, and funny. Is RZA doing the music for it also? I remember he did the music for smoething recently - was it Inglorious Basterds?
Morgan, what do you think of No Place Like Home and Wonder Woman?

I'll admit that I was a bit turned off by the way that they suddenly changed her origin story, and the way that they seemed to force extra men into her tale, esp. when they weren't really necessary. But the new art concepts for the gods, and the twisting and turning plot-line are worth it. I also love her loyalty to her traveling companions, and the fact that she really is willing to give everything to help Zola, as she promised.

Yeah, he's doing the score and arranging the soundtrack. I'm not sure if he had anything to do with Inglorious Basterds, but he has worked with Tarantino for Kill Bill.
In other news, I got the first three trades of Fables today! Will be reading it soon and I'll let y'all know what I think.

What a coincidence; I was just making my list for tomorrow! I read digital comics, so I don't have a comic shop guy pulling books aside for me, but here's my digital pull list:Amazing Spider-Man
Avengers
Avenging Spider-Man
Captain Marvel
Daredevil
Fury MAX
Gambit
Hawkeye
Incredible Hulk
Invincible Iron Man
New Avengers
Scarlet Spider
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man
Ultimate Comics X-Men
Wolverine
Yes, I'm a Marvel girl, and Spidey is my favorite! :)
Michelle wrote: "What a coincidence; I was just making my list for tomorrow! I'm thinking of reading the Bendis/Maleev trades and am curious what you thought of them, if you've read them. I bought Parts of a Hole and Vision Quest by David Mack already but haven't read them yet.
I've only read the newest Daredevil series by Mark Waid, which I think is fantastic. However, I have read quite a bit of Bendis, and I've loved all of it. He wrote Ultimate Spider-Man back when it was still Peter Parker, and also the Spider-Men Earth 616/Ultimates crossover, both of which were excellent. Then again, he also wrote Fear Itself, which I liked but a lot of people didn't. ;)
That's a common problem. You go in for 2 comics and come out with 5 and a trade. I had to stop going every week. I was going broke! What is A-Babies?
Chimney wrote: "Michelle wrote: "I don't know a whole lot about The Punisher, but I can say that the first issue left me like this: O_O!"
Sounds like I gotta check it out! :)
Chimney wrote: "Avengers Babies vs X-Men Babies, it's a one-shot spin-off of the Avengers vs X-Men series. The art is so adorably cute that it could rot teeth!"LMAO... Seriously? That's an idea. Will have to take a look.
Did anyone buy this comic? I'm a few pages in and it's fun so far. Nice art.Halloween Eve
Artist Amy Reeder & writer Brandon Montclare.
Eve has an imagination that’s more than active—it can be downright dangerous! Working late at the costume super-store Halloween Land, she gets lost in her own thoughts until something goes bump in the night... The rubber masks and plastic novelties are coming to life, and Eve must face ghosts, goblins, and gorilla suits made real!
Chimney wrote: "Okay, I want to the comic store today to pick up A-Babies vs X-Babies and I ended up buying way more than I intended, including adding two more series to my pull list!"
Read it yesterday and they're so adorable fighting over a teddy bear (^_^). If I had kids, I would definitely read it aloud as a bedtime story lol. I'm surprised there's not many baby/toddler versions of Marvel/DC comics. It seems like a trend that would catch on quick seeing how chibis are so popular in Japan.

It looks really neat. Might have to check that out one of these late, ghoulish nights... Is it any scary?

Anna (Bananas!) wrote: "I see several people are reading Locke and Key. Can you tell me about it?"
I highly recommend Locke & Key. At first glance, it looks like a harmless fantasy story about a family moving into an heirloom mansion where the kids discover these unique keys with magical powers. Thennn, you're like three issues in and thinking "Oh shit, this is kind of twisted." It's a very interesting plot with many turns and surprises. The artwork threw me off a bit, because the story is borderline horror and the illustration comes off wide-eyed and bubbly. However, I come across many more people who love the artwork than not. After I read the first issue, I finished all five trades within the next 2-3 weeks so for me, it was pretty addicting lol. Great writing and character development from Joe Hill. I think you would enjoy it.

Kay, Halloween Eve is more fun than scary so far. I will check out Locke and Key. I like twisted, although the art sounds strange. Thanks for explaining it!
Deadpool & Now! DeadpoolBecause I love Deadpool! I'm a DC Girl, but this is the only Marvel Character I follow, because he's amazing.
Erin/Chimney, I keep hearing about Deadpool...and didn't he kill the Marvel universe or something in his first new issue? Anyway, just curious what's the draw with this character. I don't know much about him. Also, yeah on Gambit!
I finally made it to the comic store today, there are two main ones in Glasgow. I went to the chain store first because it is conveniently placed between my flat and uni but the guy treated me like dirt and there was a minimum of three titles to be able to have one.
So I went to the other one and it was perfect, less cramped and less crowded than the other one and the guy said there was no minimum on titles. Anyway, I added Saga and Willow Wonderland and then decided to check out this A-Babies vs X-Babies and also picked up the first volume of Chew.
I'm excited to get them both read and also to have a store I actually like going to!

Chimney, Deadpool sounds great! I will definitely check it out. Will see if the trade is out. Stefani, what a crappy experience at that first store.
I want to to start a thread about cool comics shops. I visited one in Ft. Lauderdale that was amazing.
I love the one I go to in Dallas. They are the nicest people.
Chimney wrote: "He constantly breaks the fourth wall too which, of course, makes all the other Marvel characters think he is off his rocker (and he is)."Ha, that's great, all the other characters are wondering who he's talking to?
That's one of the things I liked about Scarlet too, that she talks directly to the reader.
