Katy (katyas-69) | 497 comments It's probably not cricket to start a thread about myself, but I couldn't help but notice that someone has apparently taken the time to go through and remove my name as editor on a number of books. These books were added, by the author, with my name also as editor, and are listed as such on Amazon. Since there is an editor field, I'm wondering why this has been done? And who took the time out of their busy schedule to take the time to target all the books on which I've worked? And why?

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments Unless there is no named author we do not routinely added editors in the same way we would not add proof readers, cover artist or publisher name.

Edit: to further clarify:

If it was an anthology then the editor is listed first then the contributors but if it is a book that has been "edited" to make it readable etc then the editor does not get credit.

I see... still, it seems strange that after all this time someone would take it upon themselves to go through and make all those changes.

thanks for the information - since there was an "editor" field, all the authors I've worked with assumed that meant if you were giving your editor credit, you put their name there. But I see what you are saying about the anthology.

Beth (bethjustbeth) | 1568 comments Sometimes, when I run across something that I'm fixing, rather than stopping with the book I found it on, I'll go into the author, to see if it's happened more than once. I doubt it's a targeted edit, towards you, rather it's probably someone who saw one of them, then went to your profile and cleaned them all up. I've done that with translators and narrators. One will be showing as an actual author on a book that I "read," and I'll go into the narrator's profile to make sure the rest of them are credited properly.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments I do the same as Beth, if I find one item needing a fix I'll check all are accredited correctly
