Ah yes, Sup..."
The thing I've argued about DC is that unlike Marvel their heroes are all based in powers which don't connect well to modern audiences. For instance they're either alien-origin, cosmic-based or come from godly sources. The only big hero they have that is non superhuman is Batman and he's been successful of late. Marvel on the other hand has plenty of heroes with more science based powers or powers which are based on social issues of current. For instance gene therapy and the idea of genetic mutation and being outsiders for instance.
I liked the previous Superman movie as a movie but not necessarily as a Superman movie. They took a lot of licence with the character's roots.

I still haven't read the book, but hope I will till the start / end of the season 3... Let's hope also they've learnt something from the fan rebukes of the last season (view spoiler) .["br"]>["br"]>

I doubt they will (one reason I've avoided the tv show). I mean it's one thing to read it but another to see it in a show. The author G.R.R Martin comes across as a very gratuitous type of author. By which, not to belittle him as he is quite intelligent and a decent writer, I mean that he seems to love certain concepts and be unwilling to get rid of them for the sake of the story. Loads of gratuitous sensual sequences for instance and long, long books that rehash ideas over and over...

Actually, I read an article where he basically said that he talked to the guys who were going to make the show and he said 'we have to keep all the sex.' He said that the sex was 'really important', so important that they changed Dany's age around that sex theme so that she was an adult. Which kind of disgusted me when I heard it because it pointed out one of my flaws with the series. Martin seems more focused on the gratuitous side of things than the story (which is interesting but bogged down by superfluous detail).

Hm, didn't know that. That's a bit repulsive and strange... I would rather like to have a series that would more tell than show. It adds to mystery and tension when you do not see everything, in any kind of movie, not only this series.
I do not have problem with nudity (and swearing and violence while we're on this) when it is relevant to the story - I do have when you have a girl stripping naked without so much reason except for supposed amusement of male viewers (protagonists do not seem very amused). Such forcible explicit presentation of women as pieces of meat on everyone's disposal doesn't help the story. It's rather tasteless, and dehumanizing for everybody involved, the cast, crew and viewers. I didn't notice any actor and actress having fun doing these scenes. And I've read in some board that one viewer managed to make series watchable for his 12-year old son by cutting all these uncomfortable scenes, which tells a lot for their relevance to the story.
Maybe you have noticed, but not a single main female character did strip herself, only those unknown ones did, those appearing for a couple of minutes or less. I felt that also as an insult to acting profession, as if directors used these wanna-be-actresses' desire to appear in the famous show to deliberately demean them in front of the camera and the crew.
I must note however, that first season wasn't that bad regarding superficial nudity. Maybe there is hope, maybe they will listen and cut that down for the third season.

Anyway, I haven't had much desire to watch the series because it just didn't appeal to me that much. I do enjoy the books, though, although some of his details are superfluous and I'm ready for the series to be done with.
I'm trying to go see Lincoln before it leaves the theaters. I keep hearing such good things about it!

Alana wrote: "Dany is a main character and she was quite naked in one scene in season one. Granted, that particular one I didn't mind so much because it built on her developing relationship with her husband..."
True, she is main character but was unknown actress till now. Her nudity was relevant to the storyline, expressing also how she was exploited by her own brother and also her newborn strength at the end of the season -- although all these scenes might have been more decent for girl's sake anyway. There were on boards many more (not always flattering!) comments of her looks than of her role. As for other main characters in same position, were Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Lannister lovers) obliged to do their thing completely naked in front of the cameras?
But, I was complaining chiefly of the season two. Well, if you didn't like much the first season, then you wouldn't definitely the second :)

We can at least hope these two would really be the end of the series :D

There's no official film poster yet, but I wish anyway to announce that Irvine Welsh's Filth got its adaptation, featuring some of the coolest British actors today - James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent and Eddie Marsan. The film that I bet will be as controversial as the novel was, is supposed to be released sometime this year.

The first trailer for Ender's Game's adaptation coming out this November is here:

It seems yet another film adaptation is going to be made from really well known brothers Grimm's fairy tale - Cinderella, coming out 2014. Disney is willing to make it really appealing - the director is Kenneth Branagh and Richard Madden plays Prince Charming, starring together with Lily James and Kate Blanchett.
There are some adaptations still in rumors: yet another Macbeth, but with Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender, and well, not so classic, but known, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

R.I.P.D. is sci-fi dark comedy (the title is short from Rest in Peace Department), based on Dark Horse's graphic novel R.I.P.D.: City of the Damned, written by Peter Lenkov. The cast is quite strong - Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Mary-Louise Parker.
The trailer, although a bit more revealing than necessary, seems promising:

If not already, this summer we may see two adaptations of Shakespeare's plays including well-known names: Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing and Julian Fellowes' Romeo and Juliet.

Yes me too! I plan to see an extended edition - that may seem masochistic, but can't help myself :)
P.S. there are many posters on The Hobbit's website, but I most eagerly await Bard's first appearance :)

I hope they do the death narrator thing justice! Should be a decent movie if everything goes to plan...

Aah, the death narrator. That would be interesting, to see how they will pull it off.

Ah yes, Superman's coming out soon too. I hope DC would be more successful with this new reboot. Although I didn't find much fault with the last one, Rooth seemed quite ok Superman :/
A bit off topic -- DC seems constantly in struggle to keep his heroes up-to-date for this modern audience, very unlike Marvel. I can't recall right now any really good adaptation of their comics beside Batman and some Supermans. For an example, Jonah Hex (who's I think actually antihero) had potential, I was quite interested in the character and the setting, but in the end what could have been smart story turned out to be dumb. Or DC creative forces do not have any rights to meddle with the film production or they really do not understand that today's audience isn't so easily impressionable as it might have been 50 years ago. Just my two cents on the matter...
