Dave Wood (pocket7976) in an effort to work out how many books I actually have in my TBR pile I've finally got round to scanning and pitting them on good Reads - I'm at about 88 so far but that doesn't include those on the Kindle. Probably have a TBR of around 100 at this point

Olga Godim (olgagodim) | 308 comments BTW: how do you find free books for Kindle? Is there a list on Amazon somewhere?

lol! I have a million different places I get them from. I read romances so my romance groups post romance freebies. I also follow the Dear Author blog (romance) they give daily deals and freebies.

Then I get a lot of free info from different people I follow PLUS I MobileRead has an entire free board.

Then there's another blog I follow, Baen has a Free Library and Phoenix (I think that's the name) sends me a monthly email with a free coupon code.

I started by just typing 'free Kindle downloads' in Amazon search. That will get you started.

I also subscribe to a couple of 'free download' newsletters, one I've gotten quite a few through is http://ereadernewstoday.com/

Then your library may have an on-line library download function as well, which can give you access to some of the more popular current books.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Don't forget about gutenberg.org. They have over a million books that are out of copyright. Many are wonderful reads.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments TBH, if you don't mind running into quite a lot of dreck...there's no real reason to buy books...ever.

I get so many books for free that I have to curate the books I do get. I usually refuse to get more than 3-4 a day unless they are really short.

There are so many authors out there now and they are all fighting for attention...and more join the fray every single day. Sometimes you get lucky and find a diamond... I've gotten lucky a few times.

Gutenberg alone can keep you going for quite some time: they have complete Sherlock Holmes, a couple of Agatha Christie books, Deathworld 1, some Conan, quite a few of Lord Dunsany - just to name a few.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Evgeny, check out the Australian Gutenberg, too.
http://gutenberg.net.au/
They have some different books. For instance, there is only one story of Robert E. Howard's on Gutenberg.org, but the Aussie version has 50 or more.
