I Don't Understand?

Of course, RM never went into detail about what kind of gun it was. If it was a 357. magnum, it really wouldn't have matter if Rose and Dimitri threw themselves in front of Lissa. The round would have gone straight through them.
Speaking of which, why the hell would Tasha try to shoot Lissa anyway? After working so hard (killing the last queen) to get her on the throne, why would she turn around and try to kill her?

I read and loved all of the books in the series but it's been so long since I read them, I remember the part you're talking about and I never thought about it I guess. But maybe Tasha knew that Rose would take the bullet for Lissa and that's why she was shooting at her, but also I remember that she snapped, she was CRAZY by that point, at least I thought she was. I don't know but that's all I've got.

That's the thing. Tasha was never crazy. I actually started a post on it. Tasha was always, calm, cool, intelligent and supportive. I've read sooooo many reviews that agree RM made Tasha the murderer for shock value alone. Not because it was a logical choice or because there were hidden moments where Tasha appeared unstable or jealous of Rose (Because, there aren't any).
She just did it because Tasha was the least likely person. That's it. It turned out to be more of an angry WTF?! moment instead of a shocked WTF?! moment.
And poor poor Christian. :(

As for the who was Dimitri protecting question.... I think it reflects that since he AND Rose have decided to stay Guardians there will always be a chance that they'll have to decide between eachother and the people they're protecting. There's nothing wrong with it in my opinion, as long as they're both on the same page with regard to possible outcomes.

I agree she was calm and cool and all that, and I was shocked when she was revealed as the murderer but I really thought she had lost it. I really thought she snapped. She was in love with Dimitri and when he turned Strigoi maybe that was put her over the edge and then she went nuts, maybe she decided she had nothing to lose. But I thought too that there was a little bit of resentment towards the royals for not using their powers and depending on the dampirs for protection. I don't know but I never thought that RM wrote it that way, I guess I just never saw it that way.

I was shocked too but not for the same reasons. I just remember Tasha being all nice and supportive and even lending Rose her jewlery in Spirit Bound. Then in the next book she's suddenly a jealous psycho that frames Rose even though she must have known that Dimitri rejected her after he was turned back?
It makes zero sense.

Up till that point in the book, the dangerous situation was just hypothetical but now it was happening and Dimitri tried to protect them but he isn't sure if he did it out of love for Rose or loyalty as a Guardian to Lissa.

Plus, he's way more loyal to Rose than Christian. He'd try to protect her over him if it came down to it.

One big question I have is this. It's been bothering me so much for quite some time. At the end of the book, someone shoots at Lissa. Rose goes to block it, and Dimitri steps in. When Rose asks Dimitri who he was going to step in front of, she says he doesn't know. What am I missing here? I honestly don't understand. Shouldn't he have said he was going to save Rose?
I know people hate Rose, but I thought Dimitri treated her so poorly at times. I wanted to scream at Rose "STOP BEGGING!"
So yeah, please help me out!
