Jay Howard (jay_howard) "Have you ever seen a twenty pound note all crumpled up?" asked the wife.
"No," I said.
She gave me a sexy little smile, slowly reached into her cleavage and pulled out a crumpled twenty pound note.

"Have you ever seen a fifty pound note all crumpled up?" she asked.
"No," I said.
She gave me another sexy little smile, seductively reached into her knickers and pulled out a crumpled fifty pound note.

"Now," she said, "have you ever seen 30,000 pounds all crumpled up?"
"No," I said, intrigued.

"Well, go and take a quick look in the garage."

Jay Howard (jay_howard) NEW ELEMENT DISCOVERED “Heaviest element known to science has now been discovered”

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second ...to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium' s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass. When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol=Ad), an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Jay this is the best, most accurate description of our government I've ever seen. Good for a deep belly laugh, and too good to keep cooped up here on Goodreads. Would you mind if I send it to a few dozen of my friends, giving you credit for it, of course? LesH

I was over my inlaws’ place, and he was having trouble locking his safe because the lock was stiff. I wasn’t sure whether to lubricate it with graphite, silican spray or an oil (he had all three things right there). So I googled it. After finding out all about whether lubrication is safe with contraception, among other things, I ended up taking a punt on lubricating the safe with graphite powder.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) We’ve been a little bit… er… ‘damp’ for the last few weeks here in Somerset. So I decided the Olympic events should be expanded……

Somerset has just been announced as the venue for the newest Winter Olympic sport – the Bridgwater Triathlon
• Highest splash wave from a standard saloon car: this will be judged by the soak level of clothes of pedestrians
• 4x4 water skiing: judged for speed, distance, and level of difficulty of the skier’s stunt moves
• Fording: both depth and speed of water will be taken into account in the marking
Residents of the Somerset Levels and Moors have been practising for this triathlon for 5 weeks and are hot favourites to win.
