The book A clockwork orange is a story of a fifteen year old boy named Alex. Alex has a gang of friends in which he chooses to do devastating things with. One day in an act of violence Alex’s gang commits an act of mutiny against him. At this moment the police come and take Alex away to jail. In jail they try to "fix" Alex and change him to a Good Samaritan.
I would give this book 4 stars. The reason I would give this book that many stars is because it’s a good book with an interesting plot. The book has a interesting style of writing in it.
“… by definition, a human being is endowed with free will. He can use this to choose between good and evil. If he can only perform good or only perform evil, then he is a clockwork orange- meaning that he has the appearance of an organism lovely with colour and juice but is in fact only a clockwork toy…” (Anthony Burgess ix)
We as humans are all imperfect and we cannot be all god or all bad. There always needs to be a balance because if we were just one side of the good- bad spectrum then we would just be a lifeless, inanimate object.
This book is a really good book for upper level high school and college students. The reason being that some of the scenes in the book are a little to grown up for some lower class levels. I would recommend this book to anyone who is trying to read a challenging book reason being that this book uses a type of slang never seen before by us.
