You live in Florida! That's why I revived the thread.

Is it true that the oldest people in the world live in Tampa, and their grandparents live in St. Petersburg?

smetchie | 4034 comments Is it true that St. Augustine is the oldest city? (I love St. Augustine)

Youndyc | 1255 comments I don't know about St. Pete having the grandparents, but I do know that they have the only municipal shuffleboard club I've ever seen. It's quite lovely.

Not sure about St. Augustine either. I think it was not the oldest settlement, but it's the oldest one with surviving structures - or the oldest continuously settled place in US or something like that. I should Google it.

Harry (harry_harry) | 226 comments St Augustine is indeed the Nation's Oldest City. Let me clarify, it is the oldest European city, or the oldest occupied city in the US.

It is home to most of my family from generations and generations...dating back to the Menorcans from Spain who met some ridiculously harsh treatment from the English (shocker) and even harsher treatment by the day to day conditions of an unsettled Florida.

Florida is a bitch. Pretty in places, but a nasty terrain and landscape that I would have packed up and left within minutes of landing there. "F" that...it's too damn prickly and hot for me.

But, I do love St. Augustine. Even though I've tried the Fountain of Youth, and I keep getting heavier and more wrinkled... that shit ain't working!
