James (radione) | 3 comments Great timing! I had just finished it when I saw the S&L pick and I quite enjoyed it.

Kevin Brew This is my first S&L's book of the month (I'm listening to is actually). I admit that I was attracted to it after seeing the film trailer earlier this year.

I've just finished the 2nd story. So far the individual stories have been enjoyable, but the book hasn't gripped me as a whole yet.

Early days yet, only time will tell.

Aloha | 919 comments I'm starting to like books that give a big reward when you're done with it, because it keeps you guessing until you're done. And sometimes they're so demanding that you have to read it more than once until it finally soaks up into your brain in a big realization.

Ronan O'Driscoll I love David Mitchell. Have read number9dream and The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet. I am surprised and delighted to see this as a pick for the S&L group as the best genre to put his work in is "pop-literary fiction". He has elements of sci-fi and historical fiction (and other genres but primarily those) but is not confined to them. I think Mitchell is in the vein of writers like Ian (M.) Banks or even Anthony Burgess. His main goal is to entertain so don't be put off by some of the literary pyro-technics. I am starting Cloud Atlas tonight. I've been looking forward to it for months!

I don't want to get spoilery here, but I have to disagree with you. Interconnectedness is the whole point, from my perspective. I'll just direct you to one passage in particular - Vyvyan's dream, as he recounts it to Frobisher. It is the most obvious piece of evidence, but just one of many "entaglements."
