The Birth House by Ami McKay:)
The Birth House by Ami McKay:)
I haven't really seen any graphic novels around, I don't think the stores in my town sell them at all.

Brenda - you are so right, I think a lot of people still associative graphic novels with the Marvel superhero genera. Which is fine, but there is so much more to them now.

I got one recently from another council Kadi, and it did take a fair while...hopefully it'll arrive soon:)

I just finished reading Batman, Vol. 1: The Court of Owls
(5 star review)... and am just finishing Batwoman, Vol. 1: Hydrology
(4 or 5 stars as well)Then I am going to start on Batman: Hong Kong
. The funny thing is, I never was big into graphic novels before, but recently I have found an appreciation for them.
Not a graphic novel fan, so I've picked The Children's Book by A S Byatt from my friend Eileen's list for the October challenge.
I've just finished my book from a friends list The Love Of Good Women by Isabel Miller 3 stars, I read in a night.
I have never read a graphic novel and must admit that they dont really appeal to me, however, I noticed that Zoey and Suzanne are reading
. I love Diana Gabaldons books so I thought I would give it a try. I have just placed it on reserve at the library
Deb wrote: "I have never read a graphic novel and must admit that they dont really appeal to me, however, I noticed that Zoey and Suzanne are reading

I haven't done many challenges lately; and Ive never really been into graphic novels. Until now. Whoop. I'll be probably be reading The Sandman, Vol. 2: The Doll's House, since I loved the first installment, and have now got the second & third in my hands. Plus, my english teacher loves them and says he'll fail me if I dont finish the whole series by the end of the year (because he wants to talk about them with me, and they're his favorites), so yeah.
If not this one, I might doThe Walking Dead, Vol. 3: Safety Behind Bars. Ideally i'd read it at the end of the third season, in February, but I dont know if im strong enough.
k Ill stop typing now.

. I don't think it had the depth of the original novel, but the artwork was great. Looking forward to hearing what you think Deb.
It is soooo hard trying to decide what to read next, if anyone has any suggestions of any books that are like Finnikin of the rock by Melinda Marchetta, could they let me know...

Carolyne wrote: "It is soooo hard trying to decide what to read next, if anyone has any suggestions of any books that are like Finnikin of the rock by Melinda Marchetta, could they let me know..."I loved Finnikin of the Rock! There are two more that follow, I think the third is released, but the next one definitely is!
The first thing that came to mind thinking about similar books was Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, but it's not really the same. The next thing I thought of was a trilogy by Garth Nix Sabriel, Lirael: Daughter of the Clayr and Abhorsen. They're not the same either, but I loved them in almost the same way!
I hope you're able to find something to love as much!
Just finished my first for this challenge; Choke by Chuck Palahniuk, which a friend gave me cause she ended up with two copies. Rating it four stars.
I'd forgotten I'd signed up for this. I'll take a break from my Spring reading and read this one instead:
I finished my graphic novel for this challenge The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman and my review is here.... http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
A wonderful book!
A wonderful book!
Am half way through I Came To Say Goodbye which appears on just about everybody's list so I figured it fitted the criteria for this challenge. I haven't read anything by Caroline Overington before and I'm pleased at how much I'm enjoying this book. Have just reserved Matilda Is Missing and hope to pick it up in the next few days.
Almost finished White Oleander, which I borrowed from a friend probably nearly a year ago. I'm glad I finally read it, it's a beautifully written book, and I'm wondering why it took so long!

I have just finished
from Brenda's list and enjoyed it very much. If I get time I will read
as that rates highly on quite a few friend's lists.
