Given the condition it's in, I have to agree, it sounds unread. From a collector standpoint, that's good. From fan standpoint, not so much.

Jonathan (nathandjoe) | 51 comments Someone on my Instagram feed just posted a pic of this one saying they had bought it...so I guess it has been snapped up!

message 503: by David (new)

David Merrill | 31 comments I guess I should be getting a finders fee from the dealer. Lol heck, if I had an extra hundred dollars lying around, I'd have snapped it up myself to replace my former library copy.

message 504: by Luke (new)

Luke (definitelynotthomaspynchon) | 11 comments Anyone having any luck lately? The lowest I've gotten a seller down to is $78 (or about $100 Canadian for me, and a trip down to the border). Anyone aware of any better deals floating around? I'm debating pulling the trigger on this or just waiting around until the Dzanc copy.

message 505: by Nathan "N.R.", James Mayn (new)

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 662 comments 78 is lower than I've seen in months and months. If it's in good condition, I'd say go for it. The Dzanc we still don't have a release date for ; and it'll be pb most likely.

agreed - you may eventually find one for 60-range, but you could wait a year for it. And it's really not worth waiting all those extra months to save $10. At $78, it's still a bargain for the experience you'll have!

message 507: by Luke (new)

Luke (definitelynotthomaspynchon) | 11 comments Managed to get another seller down to $60 with shipping and took it! If anyone is looking the readingrescuers is willing to drop theirs down to $75 and it doesn't seem to be in too bad of condition. Just thought I'd let people know.

Can you link me to the seller? I think I'm going to take this deal

Luke informed me it was sold. Time to start the haggling with other sellers online!

message 514: by Nick (new)

Nick | 28 comments Supply definitely seems to be drying up... it's been quite some time since I last saw anything listed under $100 (save for a single ebay auction at $60, which sold in 10 minutes) - and I check multiple times a day.

message 515: by Madison (new)

Madison Santos | 3 comments A big thank you to Luke for his tips, I got a bookseller to lower the price to $65.

message 516: by Nick (new)

Nick | 28 comments There's an ex-lib on eBay for $90 OBO right now

Luke (definitelynotthomaspynchon) | 11 comments BookDepository Listing and Amazon.ca Listing Google listing, PersusBooksGroup, (there are more but I'm too lazy to type out the HTML code). What is odd is that the ISBN comes up with a totally different book; but regardless, I think we might have a date: 11 Jul 2017. Mark your calendars accordingly.

Jacob | 19 comments Hey everybody!

I have an extra copy of Women & Men that I have decided to deacquisition myself of, and am probably going to post it on eBay soon. I'd be just as happy to strike a deal in this fine forum.

It's in near perfect condition, seemingly unread. I found this copy in a used store some years ago in Yellow Springs, Ohio, home to Antioch University. There are no marks in the book, nor damage. The jacket is very slightly yellowed from its original cream color, and the jacket also has one minute tear (0.5 cm) on the back edge.

$60 + shipping (from Canada), or best offer! Reply here or at M.Siefring@gmail.com. Pics available too.

But supposedly we have a due date for the second [edit: third?] edition...
I don't know what to do.

Depending upon preferences of course ; but this is one of those that are especially beautiful in hardcover. The advantage of the forthcoming edition (aside from $$$) is that it should be the most textually accurate possible. Joe's making sure every letter is the right letter. But this hardcover is one beautiful thing and (personally) I'd have it no other way!

message 527: by Jacob (last edited Nov 28, 2016 08:00PM) (new)

Jacob | 19 comments Well, swiftly enough, I think one of this forum's members has met my offer.

Nathan, are you aware of textual inaccuracies (typos or otherwise) in the Knopf edition? When I read it in 2011 I didn't pick up on any, or if so, only the exceedingly rare typo.

I am glad to have found a buyer through this forum rather than elsewhere!

I don't recall having been struck by any. But now that you mention it, I sure do hope Joe and/or Dzanc provide us with a list of any changes/corrections made for this new edition.

Thank you Terry for posting your book offer on here first. And thank you Nathan for starting this group in the first place.

message 530: by Kyle (new)

Kyle | 13 comments Does anyone know what is going on with this? I found a few sites that show: "Dzanc Books; Reprint edition (July 21 2017)" for a new edition of Women and Men. Is this based on rumor, or are they about to announce a date soon?

https://www.bookdepository.com/Women-...

https://www.amazon.ca/Women-Men-Josep... -- look at product info.

Not sure. The Book Dep listing almost looks legit. One of us'll have to get an email shot off to Dzanc. But the date feels almost right ; just need some hard confirmation. Fingers=crossed?

Very cool! Now if only amazon would get their page cleared up (isbn is still MonkeyBicycle) and/or Dzanc would get their page set up ;; we could get some of these good gr's some pre-orders.

message 535: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan (nathandjoe) | 51 comments I don't know about you, but I will be buying a copy to support them, despite already having the hardback. Maybe do a bit of a re-read too.

Ditto. I have 4 copies of it already! What not a 5th? Though this is more to support Joe than Dzanc

message 537: by Geoff (new)

Geoff | 9 comments Yeah I'll buy this out of general support, cuz I got me a sexy 1st edition hardcover anyways. But let's give Joe some dough.

message 538: by Nathan "N.R.", James Mayn (new)

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 662 comments So I sent an Incorrect Info Report into amazon ; hoping they'll get rid of that MonkeyBicycle. But I doubt they'll do anything soon given that Dzanc still doesn't have a listing for it.

message 539: by Nathan "N.R.", James Mayn (last edited Mar 08, 2017 07:55AM) (new)

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 662 comments Prices for hardcover of Women & Men have fallen to the US$75 range. Condition however leaves something to be desired ::
https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...

https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/Sear...

Still no update on the Dzanc edition.

message 540: by Nathan "N.R.", James Mayn (new)

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 662 comments Update on the new edition. Still pretty unconvincing.

Joe's webpage is now listing it for "Fall 2017".

B&N has it listed for pre=order, pub's on "7/11/2017", for $22.95 (list) and a healthy 39% off.

amazon's classic scrambled egg still has "Monkeybicycle Issue 5" associated with the isbn, but does have the generic yellow Dzanc cover now ; but the price is still wrong.

I'm pretty much fatigued waiting for this thing.

Every convo I've had with him recently, he just kinda elides the answer about when it's coming. We'll get it when we get it. He's cooking away at water--close to finished, he claims. Also been talking about a novel he's been working on since the late '40s nearing completion, another novel which has been excerpted on the internet (Voir Dire), not as close to done and secret whispers of a novella. I can say no more.

message 542: by David (new)

David | 22 comments So is this actually going to happen? B&N still has a july 11th releaae date, yet there is still no mention on Dzancs website. What gives?

message 543: by Nathan "N.R.", James Mayn (new)

Joe's page still says "Fall 2017". I've heard no further updates.

message 544: by David (new)

David | 22 comments I contacted Dzanc Books. Still waiting for a reply. Im still wondering whether it will be an ebook or a physical copy. Strange that there absolutely nothing on the Dzanc website

message 545: by David (new)

David | 22 comments Sorry about the typos.

message 546: by David (new)

David | 22 comments Still no response from them 2 days later. My order from B&N is supposed to ship out tommorrow, I have my doubts

message 547: by Justin (new)

Justin Holinka | 16 comments Amazon.co.uk now has August 15 for the release date. Not that that means anything.

message 548: by Aksaichin (new)

Aksaichin | 4 comments I'm sure there are laws about preorders that Dzanc will be breaking if Women and Men doesn't come out soon.

message 549: by David (new)

David | 22 comments Yeah I know. Like obviously it won't be some major bestseller, so why can't they stop crapping on the small crowd of people who are going to buy it. A bit of transparency would be nice

message 550: by Ian (new)

Ian Scuffling (ianscuffling) | 21 comments I've just reached out to Joe in hopes of gaining some clarity on this, among other things. Will let you all know if he has any hard dates or info--he typically eludes the question when I've brought it up in previous correspondences over the years.
