Jason Parent I'll join back in. Has the group 2 review list been set up?

message 3: by Jay (last edited Sep 17, 2012 01:20PM) (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hi Jason - group 2 are just starting off today. I'll add your name for this group :)

I am happy to join, but don't make it difficult on yourself if there's no one else in the group who likes horror.

message 5: by Mike (new)

Mike Duron (mike_duron) Hey, this is great. When do we start holding off for Round 2 though?

message 6: by Anne (new)

Anne Carlisle (acarlisle) | 328 comments I'm happy to be added to Group 3.

Don't fret, Jason. We said at the start that we don't filter for genre. If someone can't or won't review what they are allocated we throw it open to our registered readers to do the review. If we find we have problems we'll have a discuss and a rethink, but I reckon it will all come good.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, I'll read horror.... Forgot that genre.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Message for Steve, Neel, Anne and Hock

Ella has pulled out of group 2, rounds 2, 3 and 4. Would one of you like to take her place instead of waiting for this group to form up and starting here with 4 rounds to do? First come, first served if you do.
Thanks.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, man...! I was too slow. Bugger! Can't wait for this group to get started :)

message 12: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) That's yes to both, Steve. Never mind, Neel - we've only been going 12 days and already 2 groups are sorted so you shouldn't have long to wait. It's good to see you're both so enthusiastic :)

message 13: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Steve wrote: "Thank you, Jay. So do I wait until round 2 to work in group 2 or do I start now?"

We haven't got the reviews in for round 1 yet, so it will be soon but not yet. Watch the Round 2 Group 2 thread.

message 14: by Alexes (new)

Alexes | 40 comments Has group 3 been assigned books yet?

message 15: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) I think we have one more registration coming in today, so the group will be complete and I'll be able to post the details for round 1 :)

message 16: by Mike (new)

Mike Duron (mike_duron) Who would have ever thought we'd have three rounds for group 1!? Fantastic!

Thanks, everyone, for participating. Thank you especially, Jay and Marie-Anne for coordinating this!

message 17: by Anne (new)

Anne Carlisle (acarlisle) | 328 comments Wow, this really did take off fast! Only one more person to go! I guess I'd better be at the ready...
Question on first steps:
Do we click on the Goodread's links to befriend everyone in our group, then exchange email addresses now? Or is there more to it than that?

message 18: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Group 1 opening
Hi folks, I don't know if you've seen the post, but Johnny has had to pull out of Group 1 after the first round. This leaves the group short of a reviewer, who is also being reviewed, for rounds 2 to 4.

Would any of you like to jump forward to Group 1 and do those 3 rounds? You can do it instead of this Group, or do it as well, so getting 7 reviews of your book(s).

First come, first served.
Thanks.

message 19: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Now to answer your question, Anne.

Different people like to work it in different ways. Personally, I prefer friending on GR and then arranging email attachment exchanges of files or sending Smashwords coupons. It really does depend on what each member can manage, but the bottom line is it is the author's responsibility to make contact with their reviewer and to get their book to them.

message 20: by Jason (new)

Jason Parent Looks like we're still waiting for one person here. I'm sorry, but I am going to have to drop out. October is going to be busy for me promoting my book (its horror, plus I love the season). I'd like to do it, but I am not sure I could keep up to schedule. So rather than hold the group back, I will return for a future group (if that's okay).

I will, of course, be able to finish my Group 2 obligations. I'm just too slow a reader... Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for all of your efforts Jay, Marie-Anne and Mike.

message 21: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) That's fine, Jason, thanks for letting us know about this group and sticking with your commitments for group 2. We'd certainly much rather know before a group is finalised than have someone drop out when it's already up and running.

Good luck with your promotion efforts, and you'll certainly be welcome in a later group.

message 22: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Sorry it's been a bit of a wait to get going, but we're all sorted now :)

A quick reminder:
- author gets their book to their reviewer
- standard review sites are here on GR, Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk
- other review sites are only by agreement between author and reviewer
- please post a link to your GR review here on the round thread so we all know you've done it and can quickly get to it for a peek ;)
- any problems along the way, use this thread or Talk to the Mods and we'll do our best to sort it for you

Thanks

You add the book to your reading list. Then you mark it as 'read' and click the edit button. Give it a review there.

Please send me a mobi or pdf of Whorticulture and I'll start ASAP. Looking forward to it! sandra at sandradehelen dot com. All best, sdh :-)

message 38: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Sandra, Marie-Anne has moved house recently and is struggling to get internet access again. However, I can get in touch with Rebecca, who is reviewing it now, and get it to you that way. What format can you can handle?

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thanks, Alexes :) It sounds fascinating stuff for someone like me who is trying to catch up on a subject I ditched in school purely because the teacher made it so dull.

As nearly half of you have already reviewed for round 1 (so fast!) I shall shortly post the details for round 2. No pressure to press ahead quickly, but it'll be there if you want to.
