Read from September 02 to 11, 2012 Rated 8.5 on a a .5 - 10 scale Published October 6th 2009 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers The Maze Runner Series (Book#1)
This is my 3rd reading of The Maze Runner. I originally rated this as a 4 but now after reading all the other books in this series, including the prequel, (released August 14th 2012) The Kill Order, and then rereading again, I upped my rating to a 5 on Goodreads.
I really enjoyed the premise of this story. What a strange life to suddenly find yourself in, like Thomas did. And apparently all the other Gladers did as well. Slowly the story unravels bit by bit to one new horror after another. I was completely sucked in wondering what, why, how...
I thought Thomas could be a bit whiney and self absorbed at times, and then out of the blue would become the most courageous and selfless character ever. Thank goodness I already had the second book, The Scorch Trials ready and waiting so I could dive in without missing a beat.
I also ran out and bought The Maze Runner for my nephews for Xmas knowing they'd love it as much as I did. They did!
Now on to my second read of the next 2 books! I can't get enough of this PA world and the strength of Thomas, Menho, Newt, Teresa, and all the other Gladers!
