That was very quick, & I wouldn't have thought of that approach. I will try to remember those steps for next time.
Again, Thanks.

Sorry vicki_girl,
I understood msg #877 to read that they had never been published as as they didn't have any indication of being shelved and had no reviews, I took the poster of #877 at his word.
I know from personal experience that one can receive / register an ISBN without publishing a work, based on the premise that one plans to.
I made a judgement call as none of the records had "shelving" info, none had reviews, in short there was no activity on any of those specific records.
I'm sorry if I erred.

There is no such thing. Once published, means published forever.
Based on Google's caches from Smashword and elsewhere, I have recreated those 5 books.

But that is absolutely NOT what happened in this case, as a quick Google of these titles + author name would show you.

I stand corrected. I would hope that fellow librarians can appreciate a) I'm human and b) there is always some judgement involved especially when "published" no longer means being in the standard book format. Online publishing has the potential to cloud the issue.

But that is absolutely NOT what happened ..."
So an apology is insufficient then. I'm at a loss then as to how I can properly explain my reasoning for making an error that I will not repeat.
Reasoning isn't the issue; experience is. And that is why most librarians leave deletion requests in this thread for superlibrarians to deal with.
Every librarian who has done more than a few dozen edits has probably made at least a few mistakes. But deletions are essentially undoable.

Understood Rivka,
I will limit myself to combines, creates, covers, alternates and such. All other I will leave to those more experienced than myself.
It would have been nice to have my apology recognized rather than simply being called to task for erring.

Also please merge http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/96... (cropped isbn) into http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/93...
Thanks!

and also delete this edition http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15... into the main one
thanks

Carl, I think that's the point of confusion: GR does not keep a list of available books. GR keeps a list of all books which were ever available, whether or not they're currently in print.
Carl wrote: " Amazon and Smashwords allowed me to remove them. Why not Goodreads?"
Because they are bookstores, and Goodreads is more like a library than a bookstore. As Cait said, the idea is to have a list of all books, not just currently-in-print ones.

Thanks! (just in case, the ones from 887 are still pending)
