Tahlia Newland (tahliaN) | 90 comments I just discovered that I'm 88th on the top reviewers list for Australia & when I looked at the list I realised that there are a lot of Aussies reading and reviewing a lot of books. I visit quite a lot of book blogs but most of them are in the US, and I'd love to find more Aussie ones. I'm interested in hearing about how you approach your reviewing too.

Tahlia, I just moved this thread for you:) There are a couple of other blogging threads under this heading, you can check them out too if you wish:)

Lynxie | 680 comments Hi Tahlia,

After reading this post, I just looked and I'm currently #108 top reviewer for Aus :D

I've just started my blog, it's not 100% for book reviews, but given I read a lot, they do pop up quite a bit.

Feel free to check it out if you'd like.

l I would love to have a blog, but I do most of my reviewing on Goodreads. I'm #161 Top Reviewer in Australia, and #14 Most Popular Reviewer This Month in Australia.

I saw your comment on my blog just now :P Thanks for stopping by

message 8: by Tahlia (new)

Tahlia Newland (tahliaN) | 90 comments There's not many comments here. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how I can find other Aussie book blogs?

Lauren and Lynxie, if you're interested in fantasy or magical realism, I'd be happy to give you any of my ebooks for review. They're all listed on my page. Two of them are short stories, but A Matter of Perception includes both of them plus The Drorgon Slayers Choice - a paranormal romance of 8 chapters.
Message me if you're interested.

Did you check the other blogs listed in this thread Tahlia? Sherri formed one which is on FB...Michael has a couple going...

Go here http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/8... and there's a link to the FB one by Sherri...

Here's Michael's book bloggers group http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/6... and you'll find lots there!

Good luck!

message 10: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) I don't have a couple going on; only one Aussie Book Blogger group :P

There are a few book bloggers here Tahla, but you might have better luck checking out the Book blogger group. Plenty of bloggers there with links to their sites so you can go check their review policies and approach the right ones for you.

Tahlia Newland (tahliaN) | 90 comments Thanks everyone. I need to set aside a day to visit you all. Sometime when my download quota isn't so low. I'm in the bush and on satelite so it's expensive and I'm always trying to pack everything into the off peak time when I have 3 times what I have on peak. It's crazy.

I fully agree with the sentiments expressed in your post on Censorship in your blog, Ashleigh. During my 30 years as a foreign correspondent in Asia I experienced the censorship of authoritarian states and obstacles to freedom of expression. I was horrified by the recent proposal by the Federal Government for a media law to apply new controls over the press and free expression generally.

Fortunately, the legislation has been shelved. But I believe we need to keep constantly alert to resist any efforts to curb freedom of expression in books or anywhere else. You might like to take a look at my post on Defending Free Speech in the left-hand column of my blog:

http://iangstewart.typepad.com/my_web...

We have to be particularly on guard against book censorship by stealth through calls for the removal of words or phrases to make a publication “politically correct” and moves by groups or government to apply censorship, as you say, for “the good of the public”.

Amy (Lost in a Good Book) (babyleo88) | 28 comments Hey guys, I made a post on here about my blog, unfortunately I have since had to move to a new site. All my posts are still there but I have a new URL: http://lostinagoodbk.wordpress.com/

Now the long task of updating all my scattered links begins as well. What fun :)

I am keen to start a blog but have no idea where to start. What's the best site to set up a blog account?

I would recommend Wordpress.com as a place to start, while blogspot may be easier, in the long run you are better off with wordpress. It's not too difficult to setup and use and there is so many options if you do decide to be a serious blogger.

Hi Angela! I created my blog through blogspot and I found it all very easy which is good because I'm not very 'techie'.

message 47: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie | 680 comments I also use Wordpress, It's super easy to use and you can change the level of customisation you're after depending on your technical abilities. It's perfectly acceptable to just use one of the free templates and off you go.

Good luck with the blog Angela. :D

Jessica I was wondering if people could give me some constructive criticism about my quotes blog that I made for personal use and for when I have an events/display assignment as a part of my Diploma of Library and Information Services later this year in April and May -- http://thebookquotation.tumblr.com/

If you decide to give me some feedback, please do it on my tumblr blog's ask, a primate message through here or on the email on the blog. It's easier for me to be notice it that way than a reply on here.
