I would say they are worth the money, there was only one that I rated 3 Stars the rest have all been 4 & the latest 5. It's definitely pnr in the sense that each book concentrates on an individual couple but they all have different obstacles to overcome to reach that HEA. The overall stoy arc is where it gets interesting, I love the fght scenes with the Slayers and that's usually where Deborah surprises me. I would say if you like the first one which centres around Quinn - you will enjoy the rest of them. He plays an important part in each book :)

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments Hi, Tents! Our next shelf is up ~ 'dark-fantasy'.

I found a book rather quickly this week. One of my Nov challenge books was shelved 'dark-fantasy' by two people. YAY! So, I'll be reading Thirteen (Women of the Otherworld, #13) by Kelley Armstrong .

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

I am still plugging away at A Discovery of Witches. I am liking it, but I think it could have been shorter. I feel like I have been reading it forever. I should be done in the next couple of days.

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Amanda I felt that way when I picked it two rounds ago! It is a long book!

I love bingo for making me start series that I have been meaning to start for years but never have. Now I just need to finish the ones I liked. :)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Great picks, ladies. I'm going to read Grave Dance (Alex Craft, #2) by Kalayna Price .

The first book, Grave Witch was all kinds of Meh (I actually read it for BSB R4) but I'm hoping second time's a charm.

Favorite Series Read:
Kissin' Tell (Rough Riders, #13) by Lorelei James
Date Finished: November 5th
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Review:

I haven't been a big fan of LJ's "Rough Riders" series for awhile but I've had hope that RR would return to it's former glory. It hasn't and after reading KT, I firmly believe that it won't. It's the same damn book over and over again with different character names & sexual positions. KT is about Tell McKay and Georgia Hotchkiss. They went to high school together, where Georgia was the popular beautiful cheerleader who manipulated the geeky, adoring Tell when she wasn't outright ignoring him. And now they're grown up....but they're not. If I didn't know 10 years had passed, I'd have thought they were still stupid ass, self-centered kids.

I did not enjoy this book. Both G & T were immature as hells. They played a lot of head games with each other. Yes, the sexy times were amazing but given that KT felt like YA with smut, it only served to make the sex scenes uncomfortable as hells for me. I'm pretty sure I'm done with RR.

Review
Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) by Seanan McGuire

Don't let my rating fool you. This is a solid book. The audio isn't great (I had to listen to it on 2X speed. There isn't much of a story or a plot, but the world building is amazing. The characters are interesting, have depth and likable. And I am on the hook for the next book. I like Mira Grant as an author and I like her books under this name as well. I am very excited to have found a new series and I am looking forward to trying her other series as well.

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I finished Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance on 11/4/12 and give it 4 stars. Parts of me loved this book and small parts of me felt it was a bit disjointed. I see I am the only one in the group that hasn't read it yet, so I can speak freely :) I loved Tomas in the beginning (not sure why since he only appeared briefly) so I was bummed when they kept shoving Mircea at Cassie. The way things jumped around so much was a bit jarring, but I still enjoyed the book. I will definitely be reading the next book.

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments Sorry you didn't enjoy your book more Lethal. I read Rough, Raw, and Ready (Rough Riders, #5) by Lorelei James and that was a fun read, but haven't taken the time to read any others. So many of them just didn't sound as good as that one to even bother with.

Good idea Regina... are we in a race with anybody?

Okay, now to get all leader-y on you guys(you guys have been really great since this is the first time I have done so!)...
Amanda, anyway to skip ahead and read your dark fantasy book before finishing your favorite series read since it goes with our four in a row? I am only asking since you said your read for that shelf was such a chunkster and we may not need it.

message 418: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Heather I believe we are. There is another group that will have 5 in a row with psychic as well. My book will be GhosTV (PsyCop, #6) by Jordan Castillo Price . I probably just jinxed us.

I am in Tampa, FL. Beautiful city and I'm loving the warm weather. Chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday though. Not what you want to hear when you are about to fly the friendly skies. :-)

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments Regina, I was really lucky my first two rounds of playing, 2 & 3 I think, and was on the winning team. It was fun, one of the rounds we were alone reading for the stamp but the other was a race to the finish. I think Lethal said she had won before as well, but I could be remembering that wrong.

You were right; I had the pleasure of being on the team that won the first round of BSB. Hehehehe. The Fall semester ends soon, so suffice it to say, I'm burning the midnight oil these days. =( But I'll try to have my "Dark Fantasy" book read by Saturday, Team. Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Thanks for understanding, ladies. I just feel real bad. It usually doesn't take me this long to Triple R but it's been harder than usual this round. I'm also going to chance my "Dark Fantasy" book. Every time I pick up "Grave Dance" I end up putting it back down. It's not a book I wanted to read and my heart isn't really in it. Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments Thirteen (Women of the Otherworld, #13)
Thirteen by Kelley Armstrong
Series: Women of the Otherworld
Shelf: dark-fantasy
Read: 7 Nov 2012
Rating: 4 of 5 stars
Review:
Thirteen, the conclusion to Kelley's Women of the Otherworld series, centers mostly around Savannah. The storyline threading through the previous two books comes to a conclusion with THIRTEEN, as does the series as a whole. I appreciated Kelley's letter in the beginning of the book explaining why she chose, out of all of the amazing Otherworld characters, to have Savannah as the narrator. Thankfully, each of the Women of the Otherworld narrate a chapter, which gives us a chance to reconnect with them.

Honestly, I don't know exactly what to include in my review. As a series-long fan, I will say that I was pleasantly surprised at how happy I felt at the end of the book. I expected to feel a pressing need for more, but, at least for now, I feel satisfied. Kelley's done her characters and fans right by creating a scenario in which all of the beloved and some of the forgotten have regrouped in one final battle. Well, maybe not so final as she has promised a few Otherworld shorts in the future - possibly even returning to world in greater length at some point. Until we meet again, my sweets.

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I've decided to read Hit List (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #20) by Laurell K. Hamilton for 2012. It was a tough decision between a few books, I might still change, but I am trying to get all caught up in my existing series and this is one of the few I have left.

Shelf: Dark Fantasy
Finished 11/10
4★

Victoria Gardella is a female Venator (vampire slayer). After a series of life-changing events, she returns to her duties and finds no vampires in London. When she discovers a society of mortals who protect vampires, she travels to Italy to learn more about the society and ends up trying to stop an evil vampire from activating a magical mirror that can control demons.

I found the second half of the book much more interesting than the first. The action picked up after Max reappeared and was pretty much non-stop from then on. I enjoyed learning more background information on Victoria, Sebastian and Max in this book. The ending left me hanging and wanting to find out what happens next to each of them.

Review

Tied Up, Tied Down (Rough Riders, #4) by Lorelei James

I have taken a few years off of the series, despite having gone on a shopping spree and purchased almost all of them that were published a few years ago. The Rough Riders had just tired me out, I guess there is only so much a gal can take. :) This is #4 in the series, I had already read 1-3 and then #5. I liked #4. It is the first one without a threesome -- woohoo! This one was a sweet romance, involving a baby and a couple coming back together. I think the time off served me well, because now I am moving on and reading #6. I am guessing this one will have a threesome again ....

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I finished Hit List (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #20) by Laurell K. Hamilton on 11/11/12 and give it 3.5 stars. I know I am one of the few people that have stuck with the series this long, but I have been able to deal with Anita and the ardeur. I actually liked some of the recent relationship storylines, minus some of the endless sex scenes, more than some of the procedural crime stories of the early books. This book was a bit more of a blend of the two. I am getting tired though of the cops in each town Anita visits judging her for sleeping with the monsters. This time there was one in particular that seemed to hold a grudge, the characters made it clear he definitely had a problem with ther, and then it was never explained what that problem was. That and the resolution to the big bad evil of the last few books was what knocked the stars down for me on this one. Here she has been fighting the Harlequinn and how powerful they are and in one short scene it all comes to an end, what??? All in all though, I enjoyed it, I know I am rare, but I do still enjoy these books, even though parts, Olaf, and the angry cops especially, bug the crud out of me.

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson, #4) by Darynda Jones
Shelf: Dark-Fantasy
Read: 12/11/12
Rated: 4 Stars

Review:
With everything that happend at the end of Third Grave I was eager to read Fourth Grave to see how Charley was coping. My heart went out to her when we discover she's not doing as well as I hoped (can't say I blame her though!).

Although this wasn't my favourite book in the series there was plenty of things I did love - Cookie (Margarita loving BFF's are a must!), Amber (I'm suddenly full of questions about my 12yr old niece!), Artemis (how I miss my Rottie...) and the most imprtant one of all - REYES! And we are treated to naked Reyes... Holy hotness!

I enjoyed the T-shirt quote chapter titles, Charley's uniqu sense of humour although I got a little confused with some of the names. Only Charley would name her spleen. Lots of revelations about Charley and hints of what's to come. Can't wait for the next one!!

Usually these are a one sittng read for me but it took me 3 or 4 attempts to finish it, that's not to say I didn't enjoy it though.
