R6: Team #9 ~ Cloud Nine Assassins

Thanks! I love my people, but I confess after this rally of a day, I'm completely satisfied sitting down to read a bit while I bake *chuckle*
By the way, introduction: I'm an architecture student by night, children carer by day, voracious reader all around the clock. Live in Argentina, in Buenos Aires actually, though I'm from a little town on the inside of the country that only those born there believe it's obviously a place people should just know about. We never quite get it when it doesn't automatically get a "yeah, I've heard of it, it's..."

Happy Bday!!!! I would not say I move fast just a little Goodreads obsessive :) I knew you would check in as I am pretty sure you have played multiple rounds. Mandy here is a good way to describe the shelves this is what my first captain put together to describe how to check a book you want to read for a shelf. As my wonderful first captain Sherri puts it:
"Perhaps the best way to describe how it works is to go through an example. I'll use a shelf that is NOT part of the SOS challenge to avoid any confusions. Say the shelf called is Contemporary Romance
There are a couple of ways to find out what book is on the shelf. First, you can click on the shelf link and a listing of the 18,000+ books with that tag will appear. Then you have to scroll through the pages to find a book.
A second way of finding a book is to pick a book that you want to read and then search the genres to see if its on the list. To do this go to the book you want to look at. Let's say I have How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf. So I go to that book, and on the right had side, fairly near the top of the page you will see a box titled "GENRES." The top 10 shelves are listed right there. If the shelf is not there click on the GENRES title. That will take you to the pages of all the titles. The quickest way to find out if that book is on the shelf is to do a search (Ctrl+f) and type Contemporary Romance is your search box (locaation will vary for the browser you are using). For How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf there are 25 persons that have that book tagged with Contemporary Romance. I should note that you need to do the search on each of the pages, it will not search all of them at once (which would be really nice).
Once you know what book you are going to use, come back here and post something like
I will be reading How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf for the Contemporary Romance Shelf.
You can even add the picture if you want.
If you haven't added book links before, when you are adding your comments in the comments box there is a "add book/author" link above the box. Click on that and add your book title and press enter and then slections will pop up. Select either book link or book cover at the bottom of the selection box and then click add next to your title. That is all to selecting your book. It's easier than it sounds and once you have been through it, you will be a pro.
Hopefully that helps the newbies!"

All right all so Cloud Nine Assassins it is and I was hoping to come up with a picture for our Master List and near the top of our thread. I am glad you are a creative one Dawn. I have absolutely no patience for stuff like that. I will just copy and paste it on there if it would like to cooperate with me :)
Meghan, that's a really good Master List. Very easy to see who's close.
Dawn, we'll have a banner? How cool is that!

Meghan that makes it so much simpler. Thank you very much. I can't wait to start. So what's all this about a free spot? I notice that everyone is picking one out.
Mandy here is a link to the free space rules. You can read the book anytime after the challenge starts. If you still have questions after reading that let us know.
Question: Can we start our Free-shelf now, or do we have to wait till the first announcement on the 16th?
Zanahoria (Taly) wrote: "Question: Can we start our Free-shelf now, or do we have to wait till the first announcement on the 16th?"I am not positive but I am pretty sure we just have to wait until it is offically Sunday Morning in Japan. It is about 1:20pm Saturday there right now.
I start my free space at midnight JST if I am not currently reading another book. So for Mountain Standard Time that is about 10:00a Saturday morning. It doesn't look like I will be starting then this time around.
Ok, then I'm picking something else, 'cause I've started Matched for another group read :D
Maybe I'll take a Book of the Month.

Good thing, 'cause it'll open docks for bingo announcement. And it all sound so crazy, but don't you love it? Things like these make me want to read more :D
Since almost everyone else has their free spot I decided to read this one. I think it qualifies I followed the above steps from the link it's on the group shelves. Thanks
Finally I got it to work.
Here is the link if any one wants to repost it. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh...

I think for the kick ass heroine shelf, I'm going to read
. I've been meaning to read this for awhile and finally found it at the library. Plus, it fits into some other challenges, so that's a big bonus! :)
Week 1: B1-Kick Ass HeroineSteph Ann You Slay Me Sept 16, ★★★★, Review
Mandy Born at Midnight Sept 20, ★★★★★, Review
Meghan Graceling
Dawn The Mane Squeeze Sept 19, ★★★★,Review
Barbara Fair Game
Zanahoria Angelfall Sept 18, ★★★★★, Review
I'm choosing Angelfall. Been on my To-read-NOW! for a while, so I'm doing a happy dance and docking it right now.
To excited I started with a list of 20 books I really wanted to read from this shelf, and narrowed it down by flipping a coin. So this will be my book. I plan to start it after I finish my current read.
Thanks
Sorry been out of town for the day and just returned. Here are my books for kick-ass-heroine --

(from group bookshelf)
Hope everyone had a great weekend!I finished my kick ass heroine book last night. I should be able to post my review over my lunch hour this afternoon. :)
Wow, Steph, fast! Had a great weekend, you?
I've started the kick-ass just today (finished two others I had mid-read in between get-togethers during the weekend).
Haven't ye decided what I want for the Free-shelf. I'll finish Angelfall and see what I feel like tackling.

Wow Steph! Nice and quick. I am about 1/4 done with Unholy Ghosts for my Free Space, in between reading that and another book for another Bingo game :)
Zanahoria (Taly) wrote: "Wow, Steph, fast! Had a great weekend, you?"My weekend was nice and relaxing, just what I needed, as my workload at work is starting to show signs of increasing to stressful levels. So, it was good to be able to just escape into a book for awhile. :)
Meghan, I was lucky that my kick ass heroine book actually fit in with this week's shelf for CCC's bingo game as well. I doubt it's always going to work out so nicely for me! :)

Review:
This is the first Katie Macalister book I've ever read, but it certainly won't be the last. It was a very fun and fast read, which is just what I was in the mood for. I think all the characters were very well done, my favorite being Jim, the demon Newfoundland. He never failed to make me laugh. While I had my suspicions about who was behind the killings, there were still some unexpected twists along the way, which is definitely a good thing.
I think one of my favorite things about the book was really just the overall fun feeling I had while reading it. I think the problem some books have is the author tries too hard to be funny, and it comes across as forced. I didn't get that impression at all with this book. In fact, I spent most of the time reading with a smile on my face. What more can you ask for? :)
I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series!
Just came by to say "Hi" to my old teammate Steph Ann...I knew she would have at least one review up already! :)Best of luck to you and your new team!
You are just fine Mandy...If you are a quick reader, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
Glad yo liked it, Steph Ann. It does sound like fun :D
Good luck to you too Lisa, and good reading

Today was my birthday, so I've been running around fixing things for a get together tomorrow and a ear sticked to the phone :D
Just now I'm sitting, so I'll catch up. Meghan, girl, you move fast! Stay cap!
I liked Assa9 Assassins, but I also like Cloud Nine Assassins. I just pictured little angels coming down to club people with books and made me chuckle.
I'll probably take Matched for the Free-space.
