Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
Shelf: Dark Fantasy

You have and Antichrist, two babies and a strange game of follow the pea.
You've got a devil and an angel that after six thousand years on earth have more in common with each other than with their respective bosses. The descendant of a prophetess. Some witch finders.
You have an apocalypse coming. And a colorful collection of characters trying to stop it or push it forward. Most of the time, you wonder which one they are accomplishing.
I can't describe how much I enjoyed this book. First half was one long string of laughter. The third quarter was scary, the last strangely heartwarming. Expecting the humor, I actually ran the whole gamut of emotions.
Sometimes the narrative jumped too much, but somehow I can't really care right now.
All around awesome. Barbara had it right: absolutely irreverent, sacrilegious and hilarious. I can't stop smiling.

And yay for stamps!!
Yesss, stampsssss :D
And was I exited while writing that review, it was full of misspellings, lol.
Diving into Under the Never Sky now. Hope it's as awesome as touted.

lol, I felt so virtuous after whittling it down to one again after A Game of Thrones through me off course. I was hoping there would be a pause for Thanksgiving. How are the rest holding with the holidays coming?
We OK game-wise anyway Megahn :D

Katie Chandler is immune to magic and after living in NYC for a year she still sees weird things - fairies, elves and gargoyles which she ignores until Owen and Rod offer her a job at MSI (Magic, Spells and Illusions Inc). When she knows magic is real, things become interesting. I was disappointed with the Owen situation. I expected more. Well maybe in the next installment.
This is a unique take on magic with an intelligent heroine with some common sense which is definitely needed at MSI. A quick read with real characters and an interesting villain. I will definitely be continuing this series.

I'm so glad you liked it.

I have my psychic book picked out and my plans for Sunday ended up being canceled, so I'll have plenty of time to read if that shelf gets called!

Review:
I'm going to try to keep this spoiler free for those who may not have read the Fever series yet. I really enjoyed this book! It was interesting getting to see this world from a point of view other than Mac's. For the most part, I enjoyed Dani's narration, although her constant use of the word "Dude" did occasionally get on my nerves.
I remember reading somewhere that Karen Marie Moning said this series would uncomfortably straddle the line between the YA and adult genres, and this is definitely an accurate statement. There's some stuff here that made me feel a little uncomfortable, given that Dani's only 14, specifically (view spoiler) . This didn't negatively affect my view of the book though. And of course since this is a Karen Marie Moning book, we have a cliffhanger. Not as bad as some we've seen, but still definitely a cliffhanger. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I received Undeadly for review from Netgalley in return for a honest review. Molly is excited for her upcoming sweet sixteenth birthday when on the night before the party she has the fated Anubis dream. At her birthday party she meets a reaper named Rath who thinks she's odd because only reapers can see other reapers and she's not dead yet. Rath is at the party to reap a soul but not just any soul that of Molly's would be boyfriend. When Molly see's Rich crash to the ground dead she freaks and uses her necro magic to pull part of his soul and put it back inside of him saving his life she thinks. However saving his soul takes a lot out of her and she passes out to awake in her room.
Molly's father summons her downstairs where she meets for the first time her mother’s parents. When she was a child her mother became estranged from her parents when they didn't see eye to eye on her choices. She also learns that the man who she's thought all this time to be her father isn't her father at all. Plus her grandparents want her to go off to Nekyia a rich boarding school to train to be a proper Necro. Molly is unhappy about leaving her friends and Rick but she's very upset about being lied to by her dad so she accepts her grandparents offer.
At Nekyia Molly has the use of the family ghoul, she's put up in one of the best dorm rooms, required to join the elite clubs, and even has special training classes with Rath. Life couldn't be better until Rick followers her to school, and bodies start showing up. Will Molly be able to figure out what's killing the students before it gets her, and will she be able to stop the set like Anubis implied.
I really enjoyed reading Undeadly, to be fair I've had it on my kindle for months I just haven't been able to bring myself to it because of all the hype I've read about it. However I was surprised it was much better than I expected. I instantly connected with Molly she's just one of those characters you can't help not liking. Then we have Rick I didn't care for him at all and I was super happy when we were introduced to Rath I really liked his character and hope for more from him. Plus how cool would it be to have the magic to make zombies? I would so want to do that even though zombies scare me. I found the book very well written it's one of those a teen would love as well as a adult. I really liked the concept of the world that the characters live in, who wouldn't want to take classes on raising the dead, it's a unique concept that I found refreshingly new. Overall it's a great first in the series and I look forward to reading more about Molly in future books.

Continue Series?: Oh yeah!
If not for finals around the corner, I would have read this book in one sitting. It gripped me so. I actually read a good bulk of it in one evening, and had to practically be forced to leave the last fifth or so for the next day. It was awesome like that. I more or less like everything from this novel, so gush fest ahead.
The main characters have virtues and flaws and are differentiated. And they grow, Aria the most. World is well built without ever boring you with info dump. This is helped by the opposite starting point for Perry and Aria that set a tone of discovery through dialogue and experience. And what a world it is, rich and full of interesting things. Pace never, ever lets up.
My only, minor complain is Aria taking the discovery of her half nature as the reason for her survival. I liked better to think that while her heritage gave her a chance, it was her character and her will to keep going forward instead of tightening into a ball and just giving up what sent her through the threshold of survival.
Story sets up for a continuation, but wraps up well. For the last fifty pages I feared I would be left in this terrible cliff, hanging and waiting for the next volume. I was left at a nice rest stop, and love Rossi all the more for that. I still can't wait for the next book to come out.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as others Ms. Krinard has written. I felt it was too long and drawn out for true enjoyment. I kept having to force myself to go back and continue reading. As it's the first book in a new series, I'm hoping the others are paced better.
I'm too young to remember (or really know anything about) prohibition and flappers but it seems to me the author tried to mix too many things together for a truly cohesive story. I'm just saying...

It's been a pleasure ladies. Hope to see you all next round too. Happy Holidays!
