And Arya had light brown hair and looked like an Indian Princess or something. Nothing elf about her in that movie. Blech!

Don't waste your time. You would be completely livid, it was that bad. ESPECIALLY Eragon. The SFX with Saphira were pretty cool, though.
Good for you Katie. There are a lot of main plots that wasn't even portrayed in the movie. One example is that I haven't seen any dwarf in the movie. Ridiculous.
LOTR movie is good but the book is far greater. There are many more things I dislike about the movie. I will not tell to you, for your protection. lol
Why were saphira's wings feathered? They're supposed to be blue and transparent, veiny, and leathery. I also think that Liv Tyler who played Arwen in Lord of the Rings would have made the perfect Arya. From the first time I read Arya's character, I always envisioned her.
Have you watch the uncut version? You are right about the book though, I was reading fellowship and is 75% finished and I am still at the shire. (I think my phrasing is wrong)
haha yea ...isnt it sad how today a majority of books are 2oo pages or 3oo pages or less??
when like in the 1900 books could be as long as they wanted because books were more of a past time
instead of games or computer or tv...
I still wish they wouldnt dumb down some books that could have reached their full potential but editors made them smaller so kids wouldnt be over wealmed
We are talking about 19th century classics? They do bore me too, but not the story about mythology (I'm a sucker for fantasy)
Me too, that is why I am a member of Sci-fi Fantasy group here. They can suggest tons of good bokks.
in my opinion, it's not a girly fantasy book, the inheritance cycle is more like adventurous fantasy.
I don't like Girly fantasy either...or not TO much of itthough I am not quite sure what your defention of "girly fantasy" is
I have both read and seen Ella Enchanted and the book is so much betterbut I think Eragon the books compared to Eragon the movie were much worse
I am sad to say currently a hopeless romantic, but I think it makes the book all the better dont you?
well i suppose the guys in the group wouldnt think so
but...

srry. i replied to the wrong one! it is very confusing...
anyways... they should do a remake of Eragon, but I think it would be just as bad unless they do it like the people who did Princess Bride... they used almost the exact 'book words'... it went right along with the text...
(i love that movie/book)
they cannot do a remake of Eragon already!!it has to be like 30 or 50 years before they can...think of how cool it will look!@
wait are they making an eldest movie or aren't they i'm confused because i thought they're not making an eldest movie since eragon the movie didn't do so well.
no eldest movie yet. I think to have the eragon movie again you should buy all inheritance books rights just like twilight and harry potter.
Katie wrote: "Princess Bride was never remade, was it?"no i don't think it was... but the original is really good. i've seen it tons of times
um ok just i'll try and read the book after i finish reading all the twilight series, the book its really good i haven't seen the movie twilight yet but apparantly its good.
which one? twilight or Princess Bride? twilight is really new and Princess Bride is kinda old. when they didn't have the tech. to make really good special effects
yah i know what you mean Katie.... i thought it was weird, but also glad that he did it... cause otherwise we would have to endure S. Morgensterns 130 pages of packing and unpacking...lol

Hi all, sorry no posts in a while. I've been busy at work and out of town (Florida was soooooo nice when I was there).
Anyway, I wanted to mention on this that if any of you have heard of the Wheel of Time series, now being finished by Brandon Sanderson, there is a huge debate going on about how the "final" book in the whole stinking epic series (supposed to be book 12) is going to be so large that it will be split into 3 volumes. Word count is 750,000 and counting. Trust me when I tell you that this is HUGE. If you would like to read about the ins and outs of the publishing industry, I would recommend reading the latest entry of Brandon's blog at http://www.brandonsanderson.com/artic... . I learned a ton about why books are as short now as they are.
Oh, and The Princess Bride is AWESOME!!! Come on, one of the most quoted movies of ALL TIME! (My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!) The movie is actually early 80's vintage, and I have seen it way too many times. I have never broken down and read the book, so I might do that one of these days on a bad weather day.
Yes, the Ella Enchanted movie sucked eggs. Anne Hathaway is almost always a good choice, but in this case, so not. Or maybe it was the guy playing Prince Char. In any case, they totally ruined it, cause it wasn't even based on the book.I've not read Princess Bride, but I've seen the movie. When I found out it was like an 80s movie, I was like, *jaw drop* no way. But yes way. It's amazing. :) "Bye boys, have fun storming the castle!" *giggle*
I really didn't like the Eragon movie either. They pretty much screwed up what was in my head, too. I think I've seen one movie that didn't mess up what I was thinking the book was like, in my head, but I can't remember what it is right now.
Twilight was bad. They totally missed out on the best parts, like him tackling her onto his couch, and the real field of flowers. They filmed the meadow in like this swamp place that was soooo small, it was horrible. Rosalie, Emmett, and Esme were dead-ons, no pun intended, but the rest was really horrible. I'm sooo not buying the DVD. Not wasting perfectly good cash on a wrecked story. >_< When I found out they were casting Kristin Stewart, I freaked out, cause I remember her from the very beginning of "Speak," when she had these creepy stitches penciled over her lips. It's burned into my mind, so that every time I see her, she's a monster. And Robert Patterson was TOO creepy for me. Who knew that Carlisle was so pale, either? I pictured Alice's hair shorter, and they totally screwed up Jasper's hotness. He looks so epically vulnerable and afraid in the movie. Jasper is supposed to be wild, and untamed. I think the producers were high when they casted all but Rosalie, Emmett, and Esme.
Sorry for the random jump-in. xD I saw this thread and was like, wow, I have a lot to say on that subject. :)
