The suggestions for our Themed BotM have to be YA, but this is our Indie BotM Suggestions thread, so the suggestions don't have to be YA.

Great! I got confused, that's my theme of the day. Haha

David Merrill | 11 comments I misunderstood too. I thought they were all supposed to be YA. Now I'll have to think some more and put all my YA's in one basket. . .

Robin wrote: "I shamelessly nominate my own work!Los Angeles, or American Pharaohs"

Glad you scolded that shame and made it cower in a corner, Robin! The main point of our Indie Botm is to help indie authors promote their work and become known. You're in just the right place:)

message 10: by Dee (new)

Dee Doanes (deedoanes) | 9 comments I suggest my book. The Man With the Green Suitcase by Dee Doanes. It's a paranormal, mystery.

What does...
A prostitute,
A corrupt businessman, and
A disfigured young woman
Have in common with a mysterious, old homeless man who carries a green suitcase?

The old man comes into people’s lives because it is important for them to experience the visions that he is somehow able to show them—visions that even he doesn’t understand. But whoever he connects with will go through a transformation that will change the course of their life, for better or worse. The old man has no memory of who he is or even what the suitcase holds. But one day he will find out all about his own secret and dark past…

This story is magical realism, realistic with paranormal elements, a mystery that needs to be solved, and a man and woman who will finally realize that they were meant to come into each other’s lives and remain forever.
The Man With the Green Suitcase

Teresa (koalateabooks) Um....I'm not sure if this book has won BOTM yet, but I think Angelfall by Susan Ee would be a great read. It's YA...but it's Indie. And people tend to judge it before they pick it up - I did - but trust me! It's a must read!!

Can I nominate this for the YA themed BOTM?

Hmm...I think's it's best you nominate it on the Indie thread only, because it's got a better chance of winning here than it does on the YA thread. There are already some big suggestions there, like Unwind. Since everybody's heard of Unwind, they'll vote for that. People tend to go with what they know instead of taking the chance to try something new. Sad, but that's how it is.

On the other hand, Angelfall could be uber-popular and win both the YA poll AND the Indie poll. Then where would we be? Haha.

Red Tash (redtash) | 9 comments I think Angelfall is shaping up to be that popular. Like Wool. I heard something about film rights...that's a good sign it's going big.

Jo | 6 comments I want to nominate The Bellman Chronicles The Bellman Chronicles by Robert Hookey . It is free on Amazon this month on the 10th and the 11th. Great read.

Thanks, Jo! I will be getting that on the 10th, whether it wins the poll or not:D

Tammie | 11 comments Dark Waters Dark Waters (The Expedition, #1) by Jason Lewis

This author turned down a $200,000 book advance and film rights not to use a ghost written version of the story.

It's a bit like Bill Bryson's a Walk in the Woods meets Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and Between a Rock and a Hard Place.
People from all walks of life, from Jay Leno to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, have endorsed this project. It's a true story, about the first man to circle the Earth by human power. He endures just about every obstacle from 2 broken legs, to malaria, pirates, blood poisoning, near drowning you name it. After hearing his story, I put my animal rescue on hold to learn the publishing business. SO...as I'm new to the group if it is inappropriate in any way to nominate a book that you have a connection to, then I would respectfully beg your pardons. I'm learning the ropes and happy to be a part of the group. Enjoying the chats!

Cassandra Giovanni | 119 comments In Between Seasons by Cassandra Giovanni
At eighteen there is one thing Kate Ericson is certain of—the world is at war and has been since she was two years old. That was when her father pulled her family and a group of close friends to a God forsaken place in the middle of nowhere. For Kate there is no escape from the sea of lies she is drowning in until her world collides with Hunter Marks—the son of her father's biggest opponent. An opponent that Kate didn't even know existed. What Hunter kidnaps Kate for, and what her family will try to kill her to keep secret, is a knowledge that she doesn't have. Now Kate’s innocence seems to becoming undone at the seams of reality. Hunter then finds himself fighting the hopelessness that is creeping into the edges of her heart as she learns more about the corruption that has devoured their lives. As Hunter and Kate forge a strong and unique relationship it becomes clear that their love is something that the bureaucracy never expected, and that Hunter's father will do whatever he can to destroy it. Hunter believes he must sacrifice love in order to teach Kate that the world's deadliest weapon is her. Hunter and Kate will have to find the strength to rise above a deception that is so great, even the ones who created it don't realize its depth.

In Between Seasons is a new kind of dystopian novel, one that focuses on the characters and uses the lack of understanding of a corrupt world as the backdrop to shape them into who they are as people.

Chloe Miles | 2 comments Can I nominate my own too? I would be honored if you considered it :)

Faded (The Faded Trilogy, Book 1) by Chloe Miles

Faded

"Savannah wanted to kiss him, but she had never even kissed a human guy before, let alone a ghost. How was she supposed to kiss him if he wasn't really there?"

Savannah has never been in love before, but she's in love with Hunter Emmerton. He's cute, funny, charming...and a ghost. How can you date someone if nobody else can see them?

After seventeen-year-old Savannah Fraser and her three friends are killed in a car accident, they are given a second chance at life by a group of hundred-year-old teenage earthbound spirits who need their help.

Savannah and her friends learn that they are The Chosen Ones, which means they can switch between human and spirit form, heal people and control the weather. And they are also now invincible.

The Chosen Ones are the only ones who can defeat The Forces - a group of evil spirits who are slowly destroying the perfect little town of Fort Everwick with violent storms and not-so-natural disasters - and stop them from harming everyone they care about.

The Forces are set on destroying everything Savannah knows and loves, but they also have another plan - they want a new member to join them. They aren't willing to give up until they get the one they want...and they have Savannah firmly in their sights.

Savannah had never been confident in herself before, but with her new-found powers, she discovers just how strong herself and her friends really are. But what Savannah didn't count on was falling in love with Hunter. She's never loved anyone the way she loves Hunter and she knows he loves her too. But how can they be together forever if he no longer exists and she's the only one who can see him?

Will Savannah have enough belief in herself to defeat The Forces, or will they be able to lure her to the dark side and turn her against her loved ones...and tear her and Hunter apart?
