There are quite a few of them, Elizabeth. We've listed some of them in this thread:
Nathan Fillion in Castle New Show on ABC.
Nathan Fillion in Castle New Show on ABC.

I remember getting so excited when I saw the first TV trailer about Joss Whedon's new show. I was there that first night it played and I was just like "Squee!"
Every single week I was right there in front of my TV to watch it... right up until the night they showed episode 10 instead of 9, then started mixing the episodes up, changing the times it was on TV, changing the nights it was on, and then even screwing with my Tivo by saying it was going to be on at the usual time and I went to watch the episode and it was frickin' Prison Break.
I think my heart broke a little that day and I've never forgiven FOX. They ruined Firefly, Dark Angel, Dollhouse, and The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Still, I think I felt really proud when I signed the Save Firefly petition, and even though it didn't come back on the air... we got the Serenity movie. It was like a victory for all sci-fi nerd kind.
Welcome to the group, Harper! Wow, I wish I would have watched Firefly from the beginning. Not sure where I was or what I was doing then. But at least I did find it later and fall immediately in love!

I thought a "western in space" seemed like a strange idea, too, Dorothy. :) I really should have trusted Joss!

I finally posted my review of The Shepherd's Tale. As with the other Firefly graphic novels, my overwhelming thought is that it isn't as good as watching it on TV, but better than nothing.

John wrote: "I especially enjoy Castle."
Me too, John. It's not the same as Firefly but still a great show to watch.

Interesting, Arok! Not the typical way most people find Firefly, but in the end it only matters that you did.

You see, it began in December of 2003 when my friend James didn't get the newly released Firefly
on DVD. His father had asked him "What should I get you for Christmas?" and James replied the DVD set of that show Firefly. Seems simple enough, right? Well it wasn't. Come Christmas what does James get from his father? A Star Trek necktie. Now how anyone could mistake a i>Star Trek necktie for a box set of Firefly I have no idea. But what does all this half to do with me?
Well, you see, I knew that I was going to hear no end to this when James didn't get Firefly on DVD. So I went right out, bought him a set and gave it to him. That should have been the end of it - nope. James insisted that I had to watch the damn thing with him since I bought it for him. So come January 2004 we started watching it. I was hooked by the end of the second episode. After the third I went out and bought my own set of the box set. By the time James and I finished watching his set, I starting getting other friends to watch it and I gave away my set to another friend. So I had to go out and buy another set for myself, which I them gave away to ANOTHER friend and I went out and bought a fourth set.
So far everyone I've show the series has fallen in love it. I did have one friend who said she didn't like it, but I found out about a year later that she went back and watched her boyfriend's set (no I didn't buy him his copy) and ended up loving it.
Firefly: BEST SHOW EVER!

Sorry I've been gone so long! Loved all the new stories of how people first discovered Firefly! And welcome to all the new members.

Cut to a year or so later. I go to that same friend's house. He pops in a DVD and says, "I think you'll like this". This time, he showed me Out of Gas. It grabbed my attention. After that, we watched Shindig and I fell in love with Kaylee. Then, War Stories. That was all we watched, but I was hooked. After I left his house, I went straight to the store and bought the DVDs. I watched the entire set that week.
I've loved the show since.

That sounds great! I would love to see Serenity with a room full of fans!

Can't Stop The Serenity events happen all over the world. Check the website for an event near you - or organise one yourself for next year. cantstoptheserenity.com/events

Alright!!

I found out through my son-in-law a couple years ago.Never cared much for Buffy (though loved the movie of the same name."You threw a knife at my head").Tried to watch Angel but couldn't. When my son-in-law mentioned Firefly,I had asked ,Isn't with the spaceship flying over the cows?(I had seen promos for it on the Sci-fi channel)watched a few ep. then bought the season set on disc.

I watched this on TV when it came out. My daughter and I use to watch it in her room, as my husband was opposed to allowing me to watch anything done by Joss Whedon in the family room. My daughter and I were so bummed when it went off the air. Boo!
When Firefly came out on DVD, I pounced on it! The kids and I were watching it together one day and my husband walks into the room and starts watching. We were on the second episode and he says, 'Um, am I walking into the middle of this show? What is it?' Our jaws dropped. I said, 'We just started watching. Would you like to watch it from the beginning?' He said, yes. When he asked what it was, I told him how he'd turned down the opportunity to watch it when it first came out and he said he thought it'd be like Buffy, which it is not!
We have family Firefly marathons about 2-3 times a year, always with the Serenity movie afterwards. My husband still can't believe that the show was canceled!
There have been comic books based on the show, and I think they've done a wonderful job with the characters. Right now, "Leaves on the Wind" series is out, which is a continuation of the characters after Serenity.
