Do You Automatically Get a Librarian Status When you Join?

Someone invited me to this group (don't remember their name), giving a large description about the group. What caught my eye was that you could get a librarian status, having the privilege to add and edit books. Do you get this whenever you first join, or does someone have to give it to you?
