Any Sequel Possibilities

Oh, I definitely thought the author left it WIDE open for a sequel. Will he ever find the other person like him? How DO you stay in the same body for more than one day, and what happens to that person if you do? Definitely questions I'd like to have answered!

I'm really hoping for a sequel! I think there is a lot of story left to be told. I think this love story could just be the trigger for A to find out more about why he is the way he is.

I don't think there will be a sequel, but I really wish there were :( I think it is really unacceptable for the author to introduce so many new plot elements in the last 10% of the book (the Reverend Poole, the existence of others like A, the possibility of inhabiting a body for longer than a day) and then leave them unresolved. The concept behind the book had SO much promise and I really enjoyed reading it for the most part, but the number of loose ends left dangling at the end kind of ruined it for me. Even including the details of A's conversation with the Reverend might have provided some closure, but instead it is glossed over in a few sentences, despite the fact that this conversation was obviously a huge turning point for A and the catalyst behind A's dramatic choice to leave at the end. Omitting that scene and then hastily summarizing what happened in the last few pages is just lazy writing, imo.

So, yes, I think there is tremendous potential for a sequel to raise the stakes and explore the philosophy of identity and consciousness more deeply as A meets others who share his/her predicament and may live by a different set of rules. But given David Levithan's oeuvre (he writes about young people and relationships and romance, not science fiction), I think it's sadly unlikely to happen.

I'm hoping for a sequel. There are lots of questions need to be answered. Can A choose and stay on one body? Is A not the only one like that?

Now I think there is going to be a sequel because it is labeled (Every Day #1) on GR... Has it always been labeled that??

EDIT: There is a sequel set for release in 2015:

and a companion:

I just really want a sequel for this book because I need the closure. I need the last page where I can close the book feel good, knowing that either my OTP (one true pairing) Rhiannon and A either end up together and/or fall out terribly and go their separate ways. Please please please.

Sequel please coz i think the conflict there was no solution yet plase.. I'm sort of disappointed with this book

Definitely! The ending was so open and a sequel would do great! I'm still so interested at their relationship and A's life! Would defintely buy the book if there's any sequel

I say no movie, please no no no! It wouldn't be the same. And yes there will be a sequel TWO YEARS FROM NOW! Let's hope it comes sooner >.<

six days earlier is the sequel to this book, but an "before" form

For me, to like 'Rhiannon' as a book, the author will really have to take it somewhere else. If it's going to be just a recap of the story from her point of view, I won't be picking it up.

Also, the stories of the different hosts and the idea that there were more like A, were much more intriguing to me than Rhiannon.

I'd much prefer it if he wrote a sequel with A as the main character or a different character like A, who has different rules (or no rules) when it comes to changes the lives of the hosts.

i dont think a sequel is a good idea, there has never been such an interesting protagonist such as A, and the result of a sequel, though the book leaves a very open ending, i think would spoil what is a fantastic book. i dont doubt that levithan is a great writer, due to reading some of his other books, but i dont like the idea of a sequel. :)

I kind of liked the way the book ended. Rhiannon and A had what they had but at the end of the day, they couldn't be together.

That said, I can't wait to read the sequel. Rhiannon probably has it harder than A, living her life knowing that A's somewhere out there.

I loved this book so much and it was left in a cliffhanger so I believe there should definitely be a sequel to this book and have it explain a lot of the unanswered questions.

yes there will be ..

there actually is a sequel coming but it's not really a sequel. it's just the story again from Riannon's POV.

No, it finished the way it finished...just right

After reading the book, I was left with the question, "How do you end a great book/story?". Pretty challenging really that's why I don't want the book to end. A sequel will do justice to Every Day's current ending and it should be equally interesting or better :)

It does seem like a stand alone book, but I can't help but hope for a sequel. I don't think David Levithan has written many or even any sequels to any of his first-published books.
Wondering-- how do you guys imagine A? I'm still having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around the genderless thing. Does he have a gender to you? (Ha, I just put 'he' . . . .)

I really want a sequel because there were so many unanswered questions. As far as gender goes I believe in the end "A" would want to be a male just because he fell in love with Rhiannon. Can Rhiannon really love alexander ? knowing that "A" is out there? What about Nathen? does he now become friends with "A" ?

I don't feel this book really needs a sequel. Some books are better off left with loose ends for the reader to tie up themselves. I think that if David were to wright a sequel to this it would be breaking some sort of sacred oath between the reader and the writer. He would be writing into territory he has no right to be writing in.

I really like how it ended, though there were a lot of questions swarming in my head. It doesn't need to have a sequel.

I think there are definately enough lose ends to make a sequel. But should he write one? Probably not. Everyday was great, and I feel like another one wouldn't be close to as good.

I think there should be a sequel because even though the foundation of the book was about how A loved Rhiannon, but it was mostly about the complexity of how he wanted it to work. I loved how we saw him develop throughout the story in different lives, as he learned more about himself. I really want to learn more about him, why he's like this, and about others who are. I think this story ended on a note that it needs to be continued; in my opinion. I really want to know what happens to him.

Lets say the girl and her new man (sorry, forgot their names) are living happily ever after and nothing can bother their sweet, sweet love. OH NO BUT A IS STILL OUT THERE. It didn't work! He will never die, and he is back for his one true love! He realizes that this new guy will never love her the same way as he can and he decides that he will take over someone else's body and win her love back.

No, I'm just kidding. That would be horrible. The way this book ended made me sad, but it was also a sweet feeling. A was finally able to be released from the pain he was living & she was able to find someone to treat her right and didn't have to be in pain from his erm... condition.. anymore.

I thought that A had figured it out and was going to stay in Alexander's body, and not tell Rhiannon. That would be awesome.

Oh God, so many questions. What happens to Rhiannon and Alexander Lin? What about A? Will he ever figure out why is this happening to him? Will he ever stay in one body for as long as he wants to? I hope there's a sequel.

What if A got someone pregnant unwillingly? What would the baby be like? Would it have A's powers?

What happens to people's souls when A takes over? Where do they go?

I want a sequel...I really want the answers for all the questions in my mind. What is A? Who are others? How, how, how??

What could it be a perfect solution and end for A, IMHO, is a person in coma, whose soul has already left the body. Then A wouldn't feel too guilty about it and could live an ordinary life :)

I want a sequel. I can't sleep thinking what will happen next to A. For me, the ending is not the solution to the whole problem of the story. It is just running away is not the best choice. But I really hope David Levithan will continue A's journey and find a way of ending the story beautifully.

i like how the book ended. its really sad and sweet at the same time and i dont know if the sequel will be as captivating as the first book. But there will be a sequel to this book... "Rhiannon"

and i read this at a post random house tweeted...
"Nancy Hinkel at Knopf has acquired David Levithan's Rhiannon, the companion to Every Day, his recent novel about A, the character who changes bodies on a daily basis. The new book is told from the perspective of A's love interest, Rhiannon. Publication is set for spring 2015; Bill Clegg at WME brokered the deal for North American rights."

Isn't it marked as Everyday #1 implying that there'll be an everyday #2? I have no idea, I'd love one though! It's such a sweet book.

EDIT Yes, there's a book called 'Riannon' written from her perspective. It's due to be published in 2025. THESE AUTHORS RIP MY HEART OUT!

Not a sequel, but maybe a movie

I doubt there will be a sequel but I could imagine A moving to New York and finding someone that can deal with his lifestyle. I have hope for him to be happy!
