Should she write book two?

I was wondering if I was the only one who thought this. If you think no please say why so I can stop thinking about it. Really I can't stop. I really wish she wrote another one.

At first I wanted her to write another book to this one but as time passed, I realized that I liked it ending with book one. So many books these days are becoming part of series and trilogies and not for the right reasons. Authors are stretching out perfectly good stories for purely profit reasons. They would take a story and drag it on and get no where for an entire book then leave it at a cliff hanger to tempt you to buy the next. The results end up being truly crappy material. Meyers isn't really interested in doing a sequel, if she does it'll be because the movie did well.
I honestly think that The Host should just remain a stand alone book. I love the story and I don't think I could bear to see such a good story dragged out unnecessarily! And what would it be about? The only topic I could think of would be the humans re-claiming earth :/
Yea same! Maybe it could follow a different group of people?
Hmmm I haven't heard anything about her writing another. I always just assumed that The Host would remain a stand alone book
I love the whole premise of this book. It has such a huge range of possibilities for storylines that I think it would be a shame to leave it with just one. I completely agree about another book being about new characters. There's not as many expectations and it would give more freedom to a new plot
I really love this book so she better start writing the next book, this is for the sake of the "the Host" readers...

I have to admit, I'm torn on this subject. On the one hand there is so much scope for this concept to be taken in all kinds of directions. The original characters don't even need to be touched in order to keep the story going. On the other hand, any sequels would have to be as good as the original otherwise it could ruin what I deem to be an outstanding read.Weighing everything up I would like a sequel but maybe written about the trials of the seeker or the other group of humans introduced at the end. It's possible to write about the adventures of the main character in the other worlds she lived on. I did wonder about the same story from Jebs eyes or Jamies. Jeb saw all of this coming in advance, how frustrating would it have been to see it all happen?
Heck yeah, loved the first book. Meyers will make big money on this, so i hope there is another book :)
Despite the fact that I didn't like the book, even if I did like it I still think she shouldn't write a second.I mean, what would she write? The ending was too much of an ending for me and I would be afraid that she'd screw it up.
She should not write a sequel because when she does she screws up the first book. I loved The Host and I do not want to see it ruined by a sequel.
I liked the ending of the Host. I would love a sequel, but only if it was for the sake of continuing the plot, not to drag it out.
The only direction I think Meyer could take this without dragging out the plot is to have all the bands of human resistors (with the help of the Souls on their side, like Wanda) try to fight to get their world back. The humans would need help from the "traitor" Souls to know how to defeat the Souls.
No sequel, it just wouldn't work for this book, I loved it as a stand alone. She should write something new!

Hmm... maybe it's better as a standalone novel but I heard that she's gonna make a sequel.
There's something rumoured to be called "The Soul" as a sequel to The Host. Not sure if it will actually happen. Honestly in my opinion, I care not whether or not she makes the book, if she does I'll read it and probably love it (easy to please) and if not it was a great novel.
I would like it if she wrote a companion novel to The Host. How about that?

You mean she hasn't? I thought she started working on the sequel along time ago. (Shrug) Tells you what I know. :-)

Well, first of all, I didn't like the ending. I mean, seriously? It's just a very, very unrealistic happy ending, even for a fantasy book. In general, it wasn't that bad, but I think it would be better if she doesn't write a sequel.
If she does, I think it should be with a different set of characters. At the end of the first book, Wanda and the group meet another set of people who have their own "Wanda". I think the second should follow that group up until their meeting. It would be interesting to see what brought their group together and made the so accepting of Wanda's.
At first I wanted a book two. I couldn't believe that I wouldn't get to continue with these characters. Almost every book I read these days is part of a series. However, after awhile I become content with how the book ended. Everything was not wrapped in a neat bow. But it showed you how the world was progressing. How the two species were beginning the process of learning to live together. I think its perfect as one book.
No... I used to want her to write one, but after some time I came to the thought that it's better not to mess with a good thing. This was a complete story & doesn't need to be stretched out un-necessarily.
Well, since this was supposed to be a trilogy (as stated on the book jacket) YES she should write another one. I've been waiting...and waiting and so have a number of others - I work in a library and have many people ask me if I've heard anything about a new book yet.

I think it would be better if she just left it as is. I know her original plan was to make it a trilogy but I liked it as it was. I have a feeling that if she turned into a trilogy it would go in a direction where there is some sort of co-existence between humans and hosts.
I guess no because the end of the story was perfect the way it was ..
she has the name of the other 2 books in the host trilogy but still trying to decide if she wants to write them or not. i agree that the story had a wonderful ending and i don't wanna mess that up but i still wouldn't mind if she decides to right the next two
I really want her to write a sequel but it has to be as good as the host. I also think it would be cool if it followed the other group like you all said. I just can't see the next book without Wanda in it somewhere.

It says "a novel" on it, right? I always thought it should be a stand alone. I totally agree with Sierra.
I can see why it could keep going but for the love of God let us have "The Host" and let that be enough.

We still get to keep what we love about the host and wanda's story but we also would get to explore more of the world and maybe learn more about souls.
It was amazing reading host...... I really want about the host n all about wanda n Ian...the host was a nice novel hoping 4 d second 2 cum.....

I agree. There should be a Book Two. I thought this book was better than Twilight and that whole series.
No. I did not like this book. After reading Twilight Series, I don't think she should follow this area in writting. I think she should stick with the area she is better at.
At first I did not think I would like this book but ended up loving but I think one book is enough though...the ending was great & can't wait till the movie comes out:)
I felt like it dragged on and dragged on. It was a chore to read. It needed a good dose of Amanda Hocking - a lot more action and a lot more passion.It was anti climactic. I kept reading thinking that things would heat up but the pace was always the same. I love the way Stephanie writes. I loved the setting I thought the premise was unique - I cant say I disliked the bland characters but seriously when they left the cave not even then did it pick up. In a world overtaken by aliens, fodder which should have provided for so much more excitment and evoked more but it laid flat.
No. Not because I think it's bad - I reckon it's the best of Stephenie's books. But I think it really answers all the questions that need to be asked, and the way it ends really sells the idea of hope - that you don't need to see how things work out to trust that they will, that you don't need a big revolution or a summit at the UN to end this story. It's trusting that things will work out, just not the way we maybe expect or wish them to.
I think she shouldn't write a sequel we already feel like we as readers already feel we know the characters, and are wriiting the sequel in our head if she writes something one of us doesn't like then we automatically hate the book. Better leave a good book good then ruining it in the sequel and hating it.
I would like to read a sequel or companion novel that told the story of the other group of humans that were introduced at the end- how they survived, met up, and how they got their own 'traitor soul'. Granted I would be very disappointing if it was similar to the occurrences in The Host plot.
