I was in the 7th grade when i found this book it was around 2003-2005. Its a young adult fiction book. From what I remember the character in the book were forced to have barcodes on their skin so their government can keep track and contol them. Where they live is closed off from the outside world and the government does not allow people to leave and the character try to escape from there. From i remember I think it was post in the future where the world was destroyed and now that some sort of government was reformed they continued to tell the people it is dangerous to leave their home.
