Andrew✌️ (andrew619) | 40 comments I've finished in these days Don Quixote, a very good collection of adventures around this character. Currently I'm reading Pale as the Dead, a good mistery, light and no scary.

Thanks,

message 161: by Judith (new)

Judith | 559 comments The Inspector Gamache books are really really good, I hope she carries on with the series

message 162: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 5 comments I have only read one of the Inspector Gamache books, which was OK, but not quite my thing. I did see that she has another one out in August - The Long Way Home.

message 163: by Judith (new)

Judith | 559 comments The series had a background theme in all of them and it culminated with the last one, I will be interested to see if the next one continues to allude to the theme.

message 164: by Susan (new)

Susan Davis | 148 comments Thanks for the info about the Gamache book in August. I love this series. I thing you have to read the series starting with the first.

message 165: by Kim (new)

Kim | 42 comments I've always wanted to read the Gamache series.

message 166: by Judith (new)

Judith | 559 comments They are best read from the beginning and very enjoyable also a little bit quirky.

message 167: by AngryGreyCat (new)

AngryGreyCat (angrygreycatreads) | 554 comments Just read The Outsmarting of Criminals A Mystery Introducing Miss Felicity Prim by Steven Rigolosi For anyone who wants to read a change of pace - this is a satirical spoof of "village" mysteries. The protagonist even has a checklist to go by, including obtaining an animal sidekick. Not my usual read but very funny and well written. I much preferred it to GM Malliet's Death of a Cozy Writer which is along the same vein.

message 168: by Susan (new)

Susan Davis | 148 comments That sounds like a fun read and I'm going to order it. Just finished "LOVE STORY WITH MURDERS" by Harry Bingham. Excellent story line and a very quirky new detective.

message 169: by Judith (new)

Judith | 559 comments I have made a note of the book and will ask the library about it, we cannot always get titles because of the cut-backs

message 170: by Susan (new)

Susan Davis | 148 comments Wow, my library had it so I ordered it. Thanks for the suggestion. I too need a break from some of intense books I seem to read.

I tend to alternate heavier and lighter reads, with heavier reads being thrillers or darker mysteries or nonfiction and lighter reads being cozies, women's fiction or something funny.

message 174: by Judith (new)

Judith | 559 comments I have just ordered it from the library, looking forward to reading a new author

Wendy Percival | 5 comments Judith wrote: "Ihave just finished Linwood Barclay's No Time to Say Goodbye, it was really good, typical of his plots but good anyway"

I enjoyed that one of his, too, Judith. I won a pre-proofed copy in a prize draw just before it came out! I love the twist at the end... Can't remember the exact ending, come to think of it, but I remember it was good. I'd be happy to read it again but I've got too much else waiting on my TBR pile!

message 179: by Judith (new)

Judith | 559 comments All of his books are like that, real page turners, isn't it good to have a lovely TBR list?

message 186: by Judith (new)

Judith | 559 comments I love the Stuart MacBride books, they can get a bit gory at times but the charactors are very entertaining, I always make a bee line to be first on the list when they come into the library.

Currently reading. Great addition to the series with an intricate spy vs. spy plot & dryly funny dialogue.
