Christine (animecanuck) | 410 comments I've been asked to start this thread over here, and I thought I'd start with this one, since so many other people seem to have been following this series.

I'm also following the Sirantha Jax books by Ann Aguirre. I'm just starting Doubleblind - the third one (Grimspace was the alt). They are really, really good. The last one (Wanderlust) had some heartwrenching moments, if you like that kind of agony when you read. And this one is following on that track so far. (Not as much action... yet.) If you liked the first one, continue reading! Again, I really like the main character... and I feel that the cast of characters in this series is very well rounded. Ava/Amy is very good at crafting her plots, as I've actually felt a few surprises when reading her books. I love March... and the way telepathy is used, and he finishes Sirantha's thoughts out loud... it's a really fun element.

Since posting this originally in the other thread (where I'll make a link to this one, and links to other similar threads for every series we discuss elsewhere), I have seen some action already.

OKAY, now for the SPOILER *************

It's AGONIZING reading the beginning of this book because of what happened to him! He's so stone cold now! It makes sense... and I think I see a shadow of himself in him... and... ... Anyone else experiencing this, or who read it remembers feeling this way?

GAH!!!

And just... after the first bit of action when he talks to her after seeing Doc... AHHH!!! Am I right?!

************* End of spoiler

I'm going to be picking up Killbox at the library today, too.

I plan to read all of them now.

Thoughts?

Also, when posting in this thread, please make vague spoilers, OR, really denote your specific spoilers some how so that they may be skipped.

Thanks!

Emily Kao Messmer | 20 comments This is one of those series that I just had to continue. The world and character building was so great that I felt like I NEEDED to find out what happens next.

The 5th book, Aftermath (Sirantha Jax, #5) by Ann Aguirre , left me as a sobbing mess.

The last book of the series, Endgame (Sirantha Jax, #6) by Ann Aguirre , just recently came out and I'm kind of holding off on reading it because I don't want it to be over. I want to find out what happens to Jax, March, and Vel as the series concludes though.

Christine (animecanuck) | 410 comments Oooohhh... I just finished Doubleblind and have just begun Killbox (#4). For me, Wanderlust left me frustrated at the end, and Doubleblind so much so at the beginning.

Joanna | 33 comments Oh, I absolutely ADORE this series. I'll be reading the last one Endgame soon and I can't wait.

**MAJOR Spoiler Alert** (view spoiler)

I've been waiting to talk about this with someone who has read it so thank's so much for starting this discussion.

Christine (animecanuck) | 410 comments No... I read your first sentence, and I just finished Killbox - have an eBook loan of Aftermath on my computer and haven't started it yet. I'm really curious to see how it starts and where it goes from there, though.

Hopefully, we can compare notes soon! :D

Anna (spandwiches) | 6 comments I've just started Endgame too. Watching this space to compare notes and see what you alls think about how it ends!

UPDATE 10/2 W /SPOILERS!!!

Just finished Endgame this evening and am feeling very sad saying goodbye to Jax and co flying off into the unknown for adventures untold. I was really pleased with how the series ended and SO glad that she didn't have to sacrifice either March or Vel. I was sort of hoping that her and Vel's relationship would go down the physical road a little more, but I can see why Agguire chose not to go there.

One of my favourite things about the series is that no judgement is made on heterosexual, homosexual, homospecies relationships, so long as the involved parties are loving and committed. I really liked how the Tarn/Leviter relationship played out and that those characters were fleshed out a little more in this book. It also made me really happy that Jax's ends up in the most non-traditional "family" unit at the end of the book, heading off with her human lover, her alien partner, and her alien adopted son (or as close to), embracing the idea that family doesn't just need to be about blood.

Speaking of which, this was a hard book to read at times. Others in the series have been bloody too, but this felt particularly raw and graphic. I really like that there is no glory to war, even when the rot sides winning in this series. It hurts Jax to witness it as it hurts us to read it.

Now I want to start the series all over again.
