Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments There are lots of choices out there now.

Dave and I each have a Kindle Keyboard and a baby Kindle. Yeah, I know, but if one were to die, we'd be lost.

I've also downloaded the kindle app to my phone, my iPad and the laptop.

I've only read a few paragraphs on my phone, looked at a few books with pictures on my iPad, cookbooks mostly, and have tried reading on the laptop.

My favourite is my baby kindle, although I do use my KK quite a lot.

What about you lot?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I only have a KK! I downloaded the kindle app to my tablet but the lit screen is quite nasty to read on...

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments I only have my wifi only keyboard kindle.
But I do have kindle for PC app on my laptop. I have used it in the past, but recently someone mentioned using the cloud reader & I found this much better than the kindle for PC. For some reason the kindle for PC spends ages re-arranging all the books before you can open one.

I also have the kobo app downloaded just to look at, but haven't bought any books for that - it is for possibly borrowing library books but at the moment there are not many that I am desperate to borrow. Plenty of books in the library - just not ones that I want to read. My kindle TBR is long enough anyway.

So the answer is 95% use of kindle, 5% use of cloud reader.

& I don't have a tablet of any description and I wouldn't think of trying to read on my phone - if it even was capable of doing it.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oooooo Janet.

How does does the cloud reader work? This is the first I've heard of it.

The kindle for pc app is pants. I've had to uninstall and reinstall it twice.

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments I agree about the kindle app. It wouldn't download any new books just kept re-arranging the existing books on the page. I re-installed it to see if it would work - & it did just the once. I don't send any guidebooks/cookbooks to the kindle because I thought that with pictures they were better on the laptop.

I think it could have been Jud (or possibly Kath or Elle???) who mentioned the cloud reader - I can't remember how to download it but you read it as an app on your web browser. Try https://read.amazon.com/

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments I've got the small Kindle, which I use all the time.

I downloaded the Kindle app for the iPhone, but I never use it.

Does Acrobat Reader count...?

message 9: by Maxien (new)

Maxien Gorry (maxien78) Just the good old regular Kindle. I love it but have since fell in love with the Sony. Mostly because books can be borrowed from the library via the reader.

Sorry. Plum. :)

Well, yeah, that'd count.

Tim | 8539 comments I'm about equal between Kindle on my iPad and Kindle on my Nexus 7. The iPad is a better screen, smoother and more responsive, but sometimes the 7" Nexus is more convenient.

My KK comes a lowly third, for the rare times I find myself reading outside.

Don't think I even registered Kindle on my phone.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Wow Tim, that does surprise me.

I really can't curl up and read on my iPad.

Skyler West (skylerwest) | 25 comments I have had a Keyboard Kindle for the last couple of years. I wouldn't switch. I love it. Plus, the newer touchscreen models might get on my nerves now that I'm used to this. Might be nice to have a colour screen though.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have a Touch and the majority of my reading is done on that. I do use the Kindle app on my tabled and phone now and again, and occasionally on my laptop. Oh and I still have my keyboard Kindle, but it has been sadly neglected since I got the Touch

I was talking to someone on sunday who still used the original 1st generation Kindle! She showed it to me, and it was really different. All angles and sharp edges, and white as well. We laid it beside my Touch, and wow what a difference!

Pat () | -245 comments We have Kindle Keyboard and baby kindle 1 each. Plus PC app on 2 laptops and 1 desk top also the cloud reader. Read on laptop during day, KK in bed before sleep, and out and about. Cloud reader very rarely.

I have the paper set to Sepia, which takes the harshness off the backlight (turning it down a bit helps too).

Kath | 1233 comments t'was me that raved about the cloud reader cos i use it to read at work - so i guess most of my reading is done on that as currently i am too busy to read at weekends...
then as i read alot of ebooks borrowed from the library i have to use my tablet so my poor kindle doesnt get much use atm apart from the time i read in bed - probably 1/3 hour a day :(
but this will all change next week cos i am on holiday and so will be using my kindle alot more cos battery life is way way better than tablet...

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I use my Kindle Keyboard (wifi).I would love a baby kindle but I read mostly during the night so my lighted cover is essential.I have the app on my phone but have only used it a few times.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments For me, it's the Kindle Keyboard all the way for ordinary books. Technical books are read on my iPad as it is better for viewing the diagrams.

I can't say that I've ever tried the PC or Cloud versions.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments My trusty KK. Nearly 2 years old and I love it.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments My KK is what I use, but read on the kindle cloud while at work. I have kindle for PC but have only used it a couple of times and can't get the app for blackberry or I might use that more when out and about.

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments I use my KK when I'm at home, but I have a touch that I use when I travel.

Kinky sod.

Is that because you forget to take the kindle out with you?
;0)

Anita | 3313 comments I have the Touch which I love, I dont have kindle on my laptop but I now have it on my iPad and use the iPad to read things like history books and books with photos ect in them. I also am pleased to have it on iPad as it is a good back up should my kindle go wrong.
