Esther - The extraordinary true story of the First Fleet girl who became First Lady of the colony by Jessica North 1/4/19 (Non Fiction/Memoir)
Finally a new one from Aussie author Bronwyn Parry - and a new genre for her.
The Clothier's Daughter February 2019 (Historical Mystery/Romantic Suspense)

Looking forward to this one especially being a new genre.
Enough with the Daughter titles though! Don't the authors/publishers worry that in the end the readers won't remember which book is which because they all sound the same?

A debut novel and a lovely cover, presume it’s contemporary family with some historical??
Only know about it as the author is coming to our local library for a talk soon.

Haha! I thought that when I saw it :)

With you 100%, Phrynne

Totally agree, it's so frustrating to see all these title trends!
Text Publishing is re-releasing A Fence Around The Cuckoo and Fishing in the Styx by Ruth Park Parts 1 & 2 of her autobiography, they'll be out under Text Classics on 5/3/19.

For some reason, there is something appealing about The ___'s Daughter. I see I read 3 of them last year, and have about another 4 on my TBR list! I have to admit I probably wouldn't be as drawn in by The ___'s Son, however it's a little bit sad that the authors see their title characters main claim to fame as being whose daughter they are...!
And one of the ones I read last year was The Clockmaker's Daughter, and while I enjoyed the book, in general, it did grate on me that the clockmaker didn't even play enough of a part to warrant a part in the title, in my opinion!

Thriller/ Medical trial
Sounds interesting, have just picked it up on Netgalley as a ‘Read Now’.

For some..."
I wondered a little bit about that title too Kathryn. While I loved the book, and I have certainly remembered the title - which is never a given with me - it is an odd choice.
The clockmaker has nothing too do with the story, the fact that the narrator is his daughter has little enough to do with the plot... Just odd.
I wonder if the author had a different title in mind but was told that this one would be more fashionable.

Is she Aussie Marlin? There's nothing on her profile.

Possibly - but how silly of the publishers, if that's the case!! And the title didn't stick with me! I had to look back through my recently read "daughter" books to see which one it was that had ticked me off with the title choice!

Yes, I did some digging before I posted as well, as I had never heard of her. Not much info around though.
Hi Brenda, I am an Australian author also from Newcastle! I have just published my first book and was hoping you might be able to advise how I have it featured in this group? Thank you, Nikki
Hi Nikki, welcome to the group and congratulations on your debut! If you head to our Author Spotlight section - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... - click on "new topic" in the top right hand corner, you can then create your own thread to tell us all about your book.
Our books of the month are nominated and voted on, so you wouldn't be able to have it there (at this stage anyway) but I can add it to our bookshelf for you once you create your own thread. Good luck :)

Thank you Brenda! I appreciate that. I am just learning all about how to use Goodreads as an author instead of as a reader, so thank you for letting me know :)

Ooh - a new character! And set in Brisbane!

Brisbane? Ooooh! I'll have to look out for it :)

Thanks Brenda, will be looking out for this one😃

BIG WHITE LIES: The harsh Australian Outback guards many secrets. Is a nation's greatest shame one of them? by Jay Darby (debut) 23/1/19 (Thriller)
The Memory Tree, 3rd in the Tasmania Tales trilogy by Jennifer Scoullar is due out in September 2019. (Historical Fiction)

Eyes On You by Melbourne author Steve P. Vincent
EYES ON YOU is now for sale on Amazon worldwide.
It's a psychological thriller about obsession and the limits three people will go to to get what they want.
Ashley Wheeler will do anything to get her daughter back, but can she prevail with a serial killer on her tail?

Just about to start the first one in this series :)

Sounds good! Shame it already has a 1-star review just because of the title, though!
It annoys me so much Krystal! The work the authors put in and then someone does that without even reading it! Quite pathetic really!

Same, it's so disappointing! I have a specific shelf for books I won't read so no star rating accompanies them. Because even if you don't want to read something, it's unfair to give it one star if you haven't actually read it!
At least her comment makes it obvious she never read it. Hopefully everyone will just ignore her opinion lol
